Alternative Work Week. The Palomar Community College District may establish and modify within its discretion, and with the concurrence of the CCE/AFT, alternative workday and workweek schedules for bargaining unit employees pursuant to the Education Code Section 88040.
11.2.1 The Board may provide a 9-hour per day, 80-hours per two (2) week work schedule for classified employees.
11.2.2 The Board may provide a 9-hour per day for 4 days, and one 4-hour day work schedule for classified employees.
11.2.3 The Board may establish a 10-hour per day, four consecutive day workweek for classified employees.
11.2.4 Every position employing a schedule authorized under Education Code Section 88040 will be identified as having regular work hours for each day of the weekly schedule.
Alternative Work Week. Police Lieutenants and Police Captains have the option of working a 4-10 or 5-8 plan as shown below: The Police Chief reserves the right to change schedules based on emergency circumstances.
Alternative Work Week. If scheduling permits, management has the option to implement shifts of three (3) days at thirteen (13) hours straight time or three (3) days at twelve (12) hours straight time, subject to the terms and conditions as per Federal Legislation. Overtime would be calculated and paid after the completion of the modified work day. The Company may utilize combinations of shifts after the initial block is set up as an option to further create as many FT and PT shifts as possible as laid out in Article 36.01.
Alternative Work Week. The District will not implement either ten (10) or twelve (12) hour shifts in any unit without written notification to the Union.
Alternative Work Week. During the process of negotiations for a new Collective Agreement, the Parties agreed to Article 13.1.2 (New) which provides for an alternate work week consisting of four (4) days at ten (10) hours each. The following Articles of the Collective Agreement will therefore require amendment as they apply to this work week:
Alternative Work Week a. The Employer may implement ten 10 and twelve 12-hour shifts in any unit provided that two-thirds (2/3) of the affected classification of employees working in that unit vote by secret ballot election in favor of these shifts.
b. Should any group of employees petition to work either ten (10) or twelve (12) hour shifts, the Employer shall consider the request. Upon request from the Union, the Employer shall meet with the Union at a mutually agreeable time within ten (10) days of the petition to discuss the request. If the Employer does not grant the petition under this process, no further petition may be submitted by the affected classification for a period of twelve (12) months.
c. Should the Employer grant the request, the secret ballot election shall be scheduled within thirty (30) days of such determination. Where alternate workweek schedules are to be instituted, the Employer shall have sixty-days (60) days after the vote to adjust the schedules. This period may be extended by mutual agreement. No dispute arising under this section shall be grievable or arbitrable.

Alternative Work Week. The employee’s alternative work schedule must not adversely affect the normal operations of their department. Fiscal neutrality and a continued or improved level of service must be maintained.
8.3.1.1 A full-time employee and their supervisor and the cabinet-level administrator, may agree to a permanent or temporary alternative work schedule that is not less than thirty-seven (37) hours per week or seventy-four (74) hours every two (2) weeks (Per Ed Code 88040) with the approval of the superintendent/president and CSEA and in consultation with human resources.
8.3.1.2 No additional shift differential stipends will be generated and overtime or compensatory time off will not be granted unless hours worked exceed the scheduled workweek.
8.3.1.3 Employees not working a standard work week during a week in which there is a district holiday will revert back to a standard work week.
8.3.1.4 For purposes of calculating leave time used during an alternative schedule, accrued leave days will be converted to hours when used.
