ANNUAL LEAVE TRAVEL CONCESSIONS.
44.1 Employees stationed in remote areas The travel concessions contained in the following table are provided to employees and their dependents when proceeding on annual leave from headquarters situated in District Allowance Areas 3, 5 and 6, and in that portion of Area 4 located north of 30 degrees south latitude as provided for within Schedule B – Annual Leave Travel Concession Map.
44.2 Employees are required to serve 12 continuous months in these areas before qualifying for travel concessions. However, employees who have less than 12 months’ continuous service in these areas and who are required to proceed on annual leave to suit the employer’s convenience will be allowed the concession. The concession may also be given to an employee who proceeds on annual leave before completing the 12 continuous months’ service provided that the employee returns to the area to complete the 12 continuous months’ service at the expiration of the period of leave and should such employee not return or complete the required service, the employer may recover the value of the concession provided.
44.3 The employer will provide the concession by paying or reimbursing costs of annual leave travel for the employee and dependents travelling with the employee up to the cost of the fully flexible Government rates or equivalent return economy airfares to Perth as at 1 July each year, inclusive of GST, for the employee and their dependents. Upon request, the employer will provide the Union with a schedule of the fares used for the purposes of this subclause.
44.4 Where an employee elects to use transport other than their own, the employer may require that the travel be booked through the employer and where the cost of the fare exceeds the maximum provided for in subclause 44.3, the employer may require payment, or consignment of equivalent leave payments for the difference.
44.5 An employee travelling other than by air is entitled to payment of up to the equivalent fare calculated in accordance with this clause prior to the commencement of leave.
44.6 Only 1 annual leave travel concession per employee or dependent per annum is available.
44.7 For the purposes of determining eligibility for Annual Leave Travel Concession, a dependent will mean:
(a) a partner; and/or
(b) any child who relies on the employee for their main financial support; who does not have an equivalent entitlement of any kind.

(a) The travel concessions contained in the following table are provided to practitioners, their dependent partners and their dependent children when proceeding on annual leave from headquarters situated in District Allowance Areas 3, 5 and 6, and in that portion of Area 4 located north of 30 degrees South latitude.
(b) Practitioners are required to serve 12 continuous months in these areas before qualifying for travel concessions. However, practitioners who have less than 12 months continuous service in these areas and who are required to proceed on annual leave to suit the Employer’s convenience will be allowed the concessions. The concession may also be given to a practitioner who proceeds on annual leave before completing the years’ service provided that the practitioners returns to the area to complete the years’ service at the expiration of the period of leave and should such practitioner not return or complete the required service the Employer may recover the value of the concession provided.
(2) (a) The Employer will provide the concession by paying or reimbursing costs of annual leave travel for the practitioner, his/her dependent partner and his/her dependent children travelling with him/her up to the cost of standard return economy airfares to Perth as at 1 June each year inclusive of GST for the practitioner, his or her dependent partner and their dependent children provided that:
(i) The class of fare to be used as the standard fare is to be agreed between the Association and the Employer; and
(ii) The fare set is to apply from 1 July of that year to 30 June of the following year.

41.6 Travel concessions not utilised within twelve months of becoming due will lapse.
41.7 Part-time employees are entitled to travel concessions on a pro rata basis according to the usual number of hours worked per week.

(ii) Employees are required to serve a year in these areas before qualifying for travel concessions. However, employees who have less than a year’s service in these areas and who are required to proceed on annual leave to suit departmental convenience will be allowed the concessions. The concession may also be given to an employee who proceeds on annual leave before completing the year’s service provided that the employee returns to the area to complete the year’s service at the expiration of the period of leave.
(iii) Only one annual leave travel concession per employee or dependant per annum is available.
(iv) The mode of travel is to be at the discretion of the employer.
(v) Travel concessions not utilised within twelve months of becoming due will lapse.

ANNUAL LEAVE TRAVEL CONCESSIONS. (1) Employees who work north of the 26th parallel will be entitled to an annual travel benefit for recreation leave if they:
(a) have worked continuously in the area for 12 months; or
(b) are required to proceed on annual leave to suit the convenience of the employer.
(2) The employer will provide the benefit by paying or reimbursing costs of annual leave travel for the employee and his/her dependents travelling with him/her up to the cost of the prevailing market rate for return economy airfares to Perth inclusive of GST for the employee and the dependents.
(3) To be entitled to the travel benefit, the employee must:
(a) use the benefit within 12 months of it becoming due;
(b) apply for the benefit as soon as possible before taking the leave and if possible six (6) weeks in advance.
(c) go on leave to a destination outside Western Australia or below the 26th degree south latitude.
(d) return to his or her employment at the end of the leave; and
(e) complete an annual leave travel benefit declaration on returning from leave.
(4) When completing the annual leave travel benefit declaration the employee shall, where available, provide relevant tax invoices and receipts.
(5) If the benefit is for travel by air to Perth, the employer will directly book and purchase tickets for the employee and his/her dependent(s) and pay any associated taxes and charges.
(6) An employee travelling other than by air is entitled to an advance payment equivalent to the cost of the prevailing market rate for return economy airfares to Perth inclusive of GST for the employee and dependents paid prior to the commencement of leave.
(7) To be entitled to an advance payment of the travel benefit the employee must:
(a) Declare an intention to take annual leave entitling him or her to an annual leave travel benefit; and
(b) Undertake to immediately repay the money advanced if there is subsequently no entitlement to the benefit.
(8) An employee must apply for an advance benefit at least six (6) weeks prior to commencing leave but in an emergency the employer will make reasonable endeavours to provide an advance payment on request even if 6 weeks notice has not been given.
(9) If an advanced travel benefit is not repaid in accordance with (7)(b) within fourteen days, the employer may deduct the advanced money from any money owing to the employee. The employer may agree to a repayment programme on hardship grounds.

(i) The travel concessions contained in the table immediately following are provided to an employee, and their dependant(s), as defined in clause 6 – Definitions of this Agreement, when proceeding on annual leave to either Perth, Geraldton or other place outside of the employee’s district which is approved by the Employer, from Headquarters situated in the Annual Leave Travel Concession Areas 3, 5 and 6, and in that portion of Area 4 located north of 300 South latitude as provided by Schedule C.
(ii) Employees are required to serve a year in these areas before qualifying for travel concessions. However, employees who have less than a years service in these areas and who are required to proceed on annual leave to suit the Employers convenience or who are unable to complete the required twelve months’ service in the special area due to causes beyond the employee’s control will be allowed the concessions. The concession may also be given to an employee who proceeds on annual leave before completing the years service provided that the employee returns to the area to complete the years service at the expiration of the period of leave.
(iii) The mode of travel is to be at the discretion of the Employer.
(iv) Provided the concession does not exceed the value of the fully refundable return economy airfare from his or her Headquarters to Perth an employee may elect to use the concession to purchase return economy airfare or equivalent motor vehicle allowance to any destination of his or her choice. Should the cost of the chosen return economy airfare be less than the value of the fully refundable return economy airfare to Perth the lesser amount shall be paid. Accommodation costs of any travel package arrangement will not be paid as part of this concession.
(v) Travel concessions not utilised within twelve months of becoming due will lapse.
(vi) Where special circumstances exist the employee’s dependant(s) may utilise the concession provided in the clause at a different time to the employee. Special circumstances shall include circumstances where the leave roster precludes the employee from taking leave during school holidays or at the same time as his or her dependant(s).
(vii) Part-time or irregular part time employees are entitled to travel concessions on a pro rata basis according to the average number of hours worked per week. Travelling time shall be calculated on a pro rata basis according to the number of hours worked...
