Article Designated Paid Holidays. The following days are Designated Paid Holidays for employees covered by this Agreement: New Year's Day; Good Friday; Easter Monday; Xxxxxxxx Xxx (the day by the Governor General for observance of the birthday of the reigning sovereign); Canada Day; Day; the first Monday in August; Labour Day; Thanksgiving Day; Remembrance Day; Christmas Day; Boxing Day; Up to one (1) additional day will be observed when proclaimed by the Mayor of the Hamlet of one additional day when proclaimed by an act of Parliament as a national holiday, and any special day proclaimed by the Government of Canada or the Commissioner of The above Designated Paid Holidays do not apply to an employee who is absent without pay on both the day immediately preceding and the day following the Designated Paid Holiday. An employee who is required to work on a Designated Paid Holiday as part of his regularly scheduled hours of duty or as overtime when he is not scheduled to work he shall be paid in addition to the pay that he would have been granted had he not worked on the Designated Paid Holiday: one and one-half times his hourly rate for the first four (4)hours; and for all remaining hours two (2) times the hourly rate; or shall be given a holiday and pay at some other time convenient to and the Employer that is not later than his next annual vacation or the termination of his employment, whichever occurs first. Where a Designated Paid Holiday for an employee falls within a period of leave with pay, the Designated Paid Holiday shall not count as a day or leave. An employee absent without pay on both the employee’s full working day immediately preceding and the employee’s full day immediately following a designated holiday is not entitled to pay for the holiday, except in the case of an employee who is granted leave without pay under the provisions of Article Leave With or Without Pay for Staff Relations.
