COMPENSATION FOR ACCIDENTS AT WORK. 18.01 In the case of an accident as a result of which the employee is disabled for the balance of the day's shift, from earning full wages at the work at which he is employed, the Employer agrees to give the employee loss of earnings compensation covering the day the disability occurred up to one (1) day's pay on the basis of the amount he would have earned at his regular rate had he not been absent from work.

The Company agrees to provide work for an employee, following his proper release from the Workers' Compensation Board provided suitable work is available which the employee is capable of performing. An employee temporarily unable to perform his previous duties due to an injury received in the employ of the Company, who can return to work under temporary medical restriction, will be assigned by the Company to a temporary modified work program within his own classification, or given such other work as is available and which he is capable of performing, following agreement regarding such program among the W.C.B. Rehabilitation Counsellor, the Health & Safety Department, the District Manager or his appointee, and the employee concerned. The Company will supply to the Union a written copy of the modified work plan for each employee on a temporary modified work program.
COMPENSATION FOR ACCIDENTS AT WORK. If an employee is injured while at work and is required to leave the store for medical attention, the employee will be paid for the balance of the shift during which the accident occurred provided such injury requires the employee’s absence from work for the balance of the shift.
(a) If an employee is absent due to an illness or a work-related accident and compensation payment has not commenced within two (2) weeks, the Employer will, upon written request from the employee, grant the employee an advance of two (2) weeks’ wages, provided the employee is in immediate need of funds for their personal or family use.
(b) Any advance made by the Employer shall be repaid promptly by the employee when compensation payments commence.
(c) Failing re-payment, the Employer may deduct any remaining unpaid advance from an employee’s wages.

18.02 The parties agree to establish a joint Health and Safety committee which shall be based on two (2) persons as appointed by the Employer and two (2) persons as appointed by the Union. Such committee shall meet not less than once each three (3) months as prescribed in the Occupational Health and Safety Act.

An employee temporarily unable to perform his previous duties due to an injury received in the employ of the Company, who can return to work under temporary medical restriction, will be assigned by the Company to a temporary modified work program within his own job classification, or given such other work as is available and which he is capable of performing, following agreement regarding such program among the employee's doctor, the WSIB Rehabilitation Counsellor, the Health and Safety Department, the District Manager or his appointee, and the employee concerned.
14.02 WSIB Reports will be completed in duplicate and the second copy will be given to the injured worker. Both copies will be signed by authorized personnel. If the Company is going to question or contest the claim, they will inform the employee in writing of the reason for their action.
14.03 Employees off on WSIB will inform the Store Manager of their status on a monthly basis.
