Bereavement Leaves. Provided the part-time employee was scheduled to work:
(a) Should bereavement occur in an employee’s immediate family (parent, spouse, child, step-child, step-sibling, siblings, step-parents, same sex partner) the employee shall be granted such time off work with pay as is reasonable under the circumstances, up to a maximum of five (5) days and up to a maximum of three (3) days for an employee’s grandparent, grandparent-in-law, sibling-in-law, child-in-law, grandchild, parent’s siblings, parent-in-law, niece, nephew, nibbling.
(b) Bereavement leave must be taken within a period of thirty (30) days following death except that one (1) or more than one (1) day may be taken to make arrangements, complete administrative tasks related to the death of the person, for the internment or to attend a ceremony should it be held at a later date. Such leave cannot be divided in more than three (3) blocks.
(c) If the funeral is more than two hundred forty kilometres (240) away, the employee will receive an additional one (1) day with pay for attending the funeral.
(d) If bereavement falls during an employee’s vacation, they shall be able to carry over the paid time to be able to use at a later date.
(e) In the event of a delayed internment or ceremony for reason of religion or other protected grounds under the Ontario Human Rights Code, an employee may save one (1) of the days identified above without loss of pay to attend the internment or ceremony.
(f) Employee shall be paid bereavement days eight (8) hours at their regular rate of pay if their normal shift is eight (8) hours shift and ten
Bereavement Leaves. Up to five (5) days of absence with pay will be granted to Employees for the death of an Employee’s spouse, siblings, parents, guardians, child or xxxx. Two (2) days per year may be used for the death of an Employee's grandparents, grandchild, mother or father-in-law, brother or sister-in-law, niece, nephew, aunt or uncle, or significant other. Significant other is a person with whom a meaningful, long-term relationship has taken place (not to be confused with a good friend). If, unfortunately, there is more than one death that applies to this paragraph, an additional day will be granted. The District will consider extenuating circumstances, if more than two (2) days is needed for an above person. The Employee can request the Superintendent or his/her designee to consider additional days. One (1) of the five (5) days may be set apart to deal with matters related to the death which cannot be dealt with at another time.
Bereavement Leaves. A teacher may be absent for five (5) consecutive school days without loss of pay in the case of the death of a father/step-father, mother/step-mother, brother/step-brother, sister/step-sister, husband, wife or child regardless of where the deceased resided, or any other person with whom the teacher may then be living; and FURTHER, such teacher may be absent for three (3) consecutive school days without loss of pay due to the death of his/her own grandparent, father-in-law, mother-in-law, spouse’s brother or sister, spouse’s grandparent who had been residing with teacher, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, or grandchild; and FURTHER, such teacher may be absent three (3) consecutive school days without loss of pay in the case of the death of a person who had not been residing in the residence of the teacher providing said teacher is solely responsible for all funeral arrangements of the deceased; and FURTHER, such teacher may be absent for one (1) school day without loss of pay due to the death of a teacher’s uncle, aunt, first cousin, niece, nephew, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, or spouse’s uncle, aunt, first cousin, niece, nephew, grandparent, brother-in-law or sister-in-law; and FURTHER, any and all bereavement leaves specified within this Article for which a teacher is entitled due to the death of the teacher’s spouse and/or the spouse’s family members shall also apply to the death of a teacher’s domestic partner and/or the domestic partner’s family members. FURTHER, the Office of Human Resources shall notify the Union Office by e-mail when a teacher or school administrator commences bereavement leave or upon the death of a teacher or administrator.
Bereavement Leaves. A. Teachers shall be entitled to up to three (3) days bereavement leave per occurrence with pay in any school year for absence due to the death of a member of the immediate family of the teacher. "Immediate family" shall include: mother, father, brother, sister, father-in-law, mother-in-law, son- in-law, daughter-in-law, grandparents and grandchildren, like step-relations and partners.
B. Teachers shall be entitled to up to seven (7) days bereavement leave with pay for absence due to each death of their spouse or child(ren).
C. Teachers shall be entitled to up to three (3) days total bereavement leave with pay in any school year for absence due to the death of a close relative of the teacher. "Close relative" shall include: aunt, uncle, xxxxx, nephew, in-laws not included under (A) and close friends, provided the close friend lives in the teacher's home.
X. Xxxxxxxxxx to attend the funeral services may be granted to at least one teacher from the District in the case of death of a teacher retired from the District.
Bereavement Leaves. 11.1.7.1 Definition A bereavement leave is a leave to attend the funeral, memorial service, or other ceremony after the death of a family member, as defined in 11.1.2.
Bereavement Leaves. The Medical Center will grant eligible RNs time off, if requested, from scheduled work in the event of the death of a significant person in the family life of the nurse as provided for in the Medical Center’s Bereavement Leave policy.
Bereavement Leaves a) In the event of the death of her spouse or common-law spouse, child or stepchild, mother or father, an employee has the right to a bereavement leave during the working days falling within the five (5) days immediately following that of the death;
b) In the event of the death of any other member of her immediate family, an employee has the right to a bereavement leave during the working days falling within the three (3) days immediately following that of the death;
c) An employee who has completed three (3) consecutive months of continuous employment with the Company and who has the right to a bereavement leave provided for in paragraphs a) or b), has the right to be paid for such leave at her regular hourly rate for her regular scheduled hours of work in her position;
d) The expression "immediate family" means, in relation to the employee, her sisters, brothers, father-in-law, mother-in-law, grand-parents, son-in-law, and daughter-in- law, as well as any relative permanently residing in the employee's household or with whom the employee permanently resides;
e) The Company may require that an employee provide satisfactory proof of death in order to establish her right to be paid for the bereavement leave;
f) An employee may request to extend the time allowed for bereavement leave.
g) In the case where the day of the funeral does not fall within the time periods provided for in (a) and (b) and falls on one of the employee's working days, the employee shall have the right to bereavement leave if he has not been paid for the maximum number of working days applicable as determined in paragraphs (a) or (b), as the case may be.
Bereavement Leaves. 1. In the case of death in the immediate family of a teacher, the teacher is entitled to be absent without loss of compensation for a period extending not more than five (5) school days beyond such death which occurs while said teacher is performing duties as assigned by the school employer under a valid teacher’s contract provided that such death does not occur during the time when said teacher is absent from assigned duties due to leaves of absence or extended sick leaves which may have been previously granted or approved by the school employer. Said teacher may take all five (5) bereavement leave days at the time of death or take three (3) bereavement leave days at the time of death and two (2) bereavement leave days at a later date, provided such days are taken within the ninety (90) day period following the death. (School holidays falling in this period shall be counted as school days.) “School holidays” means any holiday that occurs during the school year. A teacher who has a death in the immediate family during a school holiday will be permitted to take two (2) bereavement leave day following the holiday, provided such days are taken within the ninety (90) day period following the death.
Bereavement Leaves a. Up to five (5) days leave of absence may be granted at any one time in the event of death of an employee’s spouse, child, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, parent, father-in-law, mother-in-law, brother, sister, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, grand-parent, grand-child, and any other member of the immediate household.
b. Employees may be granted up to one (1) day leave of absence in the event of death of an employee’s friend or relative outside the employee’s immediate family as defined above.
c. In the event of the death of an employee or student in the Brigantine School System, the principal of said employee or student may grant to an appropriate number of employees sufficient time off to attend the funeral.
Bereavement Leaves. The teacher may take a maximum of five (5) days per death of the following family members: husband, wife, significant other, mother, father, step- parent, brother, sister, children, step-child, grandchildren, father and mother-in-law, grandparents. Bereavement leaves up to two days may be authorized by the Superintendent for deaths of others significant in the life of the teacher.
