Extension of Probation. The probationary period shall be regarded as part of the testing process and shall be utilized for closely observing the employee's work, for securing the most effective adjustment of an employee to a new position, and for rejecting any probationary employee whose performance does not meet the required standards of work. The Fire Chief may recommend, and the City Manager may extend, an employee's normal probationary period by a maximum of six months in two-month increments.
Extension of Probation. 1. When the Department Executive to which any affected employees are assigned reasonably concludes that extension of the employee's probationary period will improve the performance of the employee, the Department Executive may recommend extension of the employee's probationary period for up to six (6) months in two-month increments.
2. If the employees have successfully completed probation except for obtaining a special required certificate or license needed to perform the work, the Department Executive may extend the probation period, solely for the purpose of allowing the employees to obtain this certificate or license. When such license or certificate is obtained by the employees, they shall automatically pass probation. Extensions shall not exceed 12 months.
Extension of Probation. Should any probationary employee be absent from the job for an approved leave without pay, the probationary period will be extended to enable the employee to complete their full probationary period.
Extension of Probation. 9.4.3.1 The review process for the first three (3) years of a five-year probationary period is primarily a formative process to provide feedback on the Member’s progress towards Tenure.
9.4.3.2 By September 1 of the third year of probation, the Member will submit a dossier, as outlined in Article 10.1.8, that provides evidence of performance in assigned workload, over the initial probationary period, sufficient to warrant Extension of Probation.
9.4.3.3 During the interval from October 1 to December 15 of the third year of probation, Extension of Probation must be considered by a Tenure and Promotion Committee.
9.4.3.4 In its deliberations, the Committee will consider the following motion: “That the quality and quantity of the Member’s academic work, relative to the criteria in Article 10 and the Member’s workload, warrants Extension of Probation.”
9.4.3.5 The Committee will vote by ballot if a ballot is requested by at least one (1) member of the Committee.
9.4.3.6 Passage of the motion constitutes a recommendation to the Xxxx that probation be extended. Failure of the motion to carry constitutes a recommendation to the Xxxx that the Member’s appointment be terminated on June 30 of the current Academic Year.
9.4.3.7 Within fifteen (15) working days of receiving this recommendation, the Xxxx will make a recommendation to the Xxxxxxx and include with it the recommendation of the Tenure and Promotion Committee. The Xxxx will share with the Committee the recommendation made to the Xxxxxxx, and the Member will be notified of the recommendations.
9.4.3.8 Within fifteen (15) working days of receiving the recommendations from the Xxxx, the Xxxxxxx will forward a written decision regarding Extension of Probation to the Member, to the Xxxx, to the Chair of the Academic Unit, and to the Association.
9.4.3.9 If Extension of Probation is granted, the Xxxx will provide the Member a written assessment of the Member’s performance during the initial period of probation, as well as a statement of expectation for the Member’s performance during the remaining period of probation.
Extension of Probation with written notice and reasons in advance to the Union and the affected employee, the probation period may be extended for up to two calendar months.
Extension of Probation. Probationary periods may be extended for a period agreed upon by the Employer and the Union. However, the extension period will not exceed a term equivalent to the original probationary period for the position.
