Hiring Rates. The hiring rates of pay for new employees shall be at the minimum of the appropriate range as outlined in Appendix "A", except where there is agreement between the Employer and the Union to hire above the minimum.

Hiring Rates. (a) New employees will be hired at the minimum rate for the job, except that the Employer may hire up to the midpoint of the salary range, at its option, to recognize related experience. New employees may be hired above the midpoint of the salary range in exceptional cases, provided agreement is reached with the Union. Such agreement shall not be unreasonably withheld. (b) If a temporary employee is successful in obtaining an appointment to a regular job other than the one in which he/she is employed, his/her salary will be determined as though he/she were a new hire, except that consideration will be given to his/her experience, as set out in the previous paragraph.
Hiring Rates. (a) Employees, including those from other unions within the company, will normally be hired at the minimum rate of their job group, except that the Employer may hire an employee at any step in the salary range for that job group having regard to work experience and/or attraction challenges. The Employer will advise the Union of such exceptions and will obtain the Union’s agreement for hires at Step 3 and beyond. Hiring Rates. Employees new to state government will typically be hired at the entry for the occupation. In determining a new employee's hiring rate above entry, the Supervisor, or designee, shall consider criteria such as: the employee's job-related qualifications and competencies; existing salary relationships within the job class, band and work unit; department affordability; and the competitive labor market.
Hiring Rates. In hiring a new Employee from outside the Employer to a job covered by the Job Evaluation Plan, there is sometimes inadequate evidence as to appropriate experience or other qualifications. In such cases a hiring rate, less than the salary range for the job may apply. Such hiring rates shall be selected from the salary range immediately below the salary range for the job for which the person is hired. Unless it is clearly evident that a person being hired does not possess the experience or qualifications required, the hiring rate shall be applied. A hiring rate may apply for a maximum of six (6) months. However, in no case shall an Employee be paid a hiring rate after the date on which permanent status has been granted. When the hiring rate ceases to be applicable the Employee shall be paid the first step of the salary group for the job for which he/she was hired. In determining the Employee's increment date, the period of time during which he/she was paid a hiring rate shall be counted.
Hiring Rates. (a) All new employees hired by the Company shall be hired at a trainee rate. Such rate shall be three-quarters (¾) of the normal starting rate for a maximum total training period of six (6) weeks. Upon successful completion of the training period, the employee shall move to the rate for the position. Hiring Rates. A new employee shall normally be hired at the minimum of the salary range for the position, provided however, that the Village may approve a higher rate within the range where the selected applicant possesses education and/or experience which exceed the minimum requirements for the position. In such event, the Village will advise the Union and the employees in the same class of the action and the reasons therefore, in writing, and any employee with equivalent qualifications in the same class who is being paid lower in the range may request a review of his/her qualifications and salary. If the case is substantiated the appropriate salary adjustment shall be effected.
