Labourer. The employer shall provide overalls to a labourer performing underground work and to the operator of a self-propelled mobile or rail-type drilling rig. The employee shall be responsible for the clothes provided to him and shall return them to the employer on his departure or when it is necessary to replace them. The employer shall not have to supply more than 2 pairs of overalls to this employee for each period of 6 months of employment. The employer, however, shall be responsible for the cleaning of these overalls when it considers such to be necessary.
Labourer. An employee engaged to perform manual labour that requires no special skill or training and which will include digging holes for poles, cutting brush, digging trenches for laying ducts, and other unskilled work as assigned. Employees in this classification are designated Unskilled in the wage schedule and shall not be upgraded to a classification designated as Semi Skilled or Skilled. Labourers shall be restricted to driving vehicles not exceeding one ton. The Line Field Representative has a Journey level ticket as either a Power Line Technician or a Cable Splicer. They are required to inspect electrical projects for completion and adherence to BC Hydro standards, administer distribution contracts and maintain liaison with Contractors/Construction Services, to ensure that work, materials, progress and costs meet BC Hydro expectations; resolve related problems and advise contractors of deficiencies and safe work practices; authorize legitimate deviations from contract scope; prepares reports of ongoing project activities and requirements for large and small projects throughout the province. Line Field Representatives may be required to switch and direct others to switch overhead and underground work as qualified and assigned. The job posting for a Line Field Representative may specify a requirement for either a Power Line Technician (PLT) or a Cable Splicer. (Refer to MOU # 42) An employee in the Construction Business Unit qualified to drive and operate the hole digging attachments, pole setting and related equipment on line trucks. Where a Line Truck Operator is utilized on energized work the minimum crew size will be one sub-Xxxxxxx/woman, one Power Line Technician and one line truck operator. A Load Operator is a qualified electrical operator delegated the operation of an assigned portion of the power system. They shall have charge of and be responsible for the operation of distribution circuits, generating stations, substations or portions of substations as assigned by Operating Orders. Their duties shall also include issuing instructions for safe, efficient and proper operation; issuing or authorizing safety protection guarantees; dealing with electrical disturbances and the restoration of service; communications with customers in matters of prearranged or accidental service interruptions. They may also be delegated other related duties which do not interfere with their operating responsibilities.
Labourer. As described in "Appendix B" (Part IV).
Labourer. Hours of Work - Hours of work for a labourer shall be between the hours of 1300 hours to 2400 hours Monday to Friday.
Labourer. Employees working as a labourer perform general work duties such as cleanup and material moving. For clarity, no labourer shall perform any work considered part of the electrical trade.
Labourer. A Labourer shall be physically fit, reliable and capable of performing a good days work as directed by his supervisor.
Labourer. An employee who performs minor repairs and maintenance to Company buildings and equipment (including painting structures), who will also assist the Yard Person with the exception of the driving of any equipment, and who will assist but not replace technicians with equipment repairs.
Labourer. Bricklayer’s labourer, plasters’ labourer, labourer assisting any other tradesperson or assisting any of the above, demolition work (after three (3) months experience), gear hand, jackhammer man, mixer driver (concrete), steel erector, aluminium alloy structural erectors (whether prefabricated or otherwise), gantry hand, crane chaser, cement gun operator, concrete gang including concrete floater, roof layer (malthoid or similar material) dump cart operator, underpinner, concrete form work stripper, driver of motor vehicle having a carrying capacity of under 1.27 tonne. Operator of hand held power or compressed air driven tools. Operator of, or performing duties on, a workboat or barge. The work activities of a ‘xxxxx’ include on-Site cleaning, labouring and other duties as required by the Employer.
Labourer. The normal hours of work may consist of up to forty (40) hours per week. The Employer shall schedule the hours of work per day and the days worked per week. The lunch break for employees working in the landfill shall be a paid lunch period.
Labourer. Climatic protective clothing (New rubber gloves, rubber boots) is to be supplied to the employees by the Employer. Safety items and climatic protective clothing issued to the employee and signed for on the appropriate form, must be returned to the Employer on termination. Rainsuits will be supplied by the Employer for Rodmen. When a project is stopped by the Safety Inspector for an unsafe condition, the Employee affected will be paid to the end of the shift he is working if other work in not available. An Employee absent by reason of illness or accident who wishes to return to work shall be reinstated by the Employer if work is available. Employers are concerned about employee safety as a way of working on and off the job. We recognize that improvements may only be accomplished if every employee is determined to practice safety at all times. Safety is a result of continuous personal education for everyone and the Employers intend to carry out its work in the safest manner possible, backed by good work practices and common sense. An accident is an unplanned and unintended event which disrupts the progress of a work place. All accidents, using this definition, result in loss, due to a job disruption, a delay and possibly time loss due to personal injury, equipment damage or material damage. Our goal is to eliminate accidents and implement safe, healthy policies and procedures. As a result of said policies all labourers working in the construction industry shall have a Certificate in his possession for the following:
a) One day course on the "Introduction to Occupational Health and Safety", for the construction worker. Standard First Aid, and Generic. Confined Space, Level I Fall Arrest
