Parental Leave (Maternity). 1.7.1 An employee who becomes the natural mother of a child is eligible for parental leave without pay.
1.7.2 Employees must submit an application in writing for parental leave at least four (4) weeks before the date specified in the application as the day the leave is to commence.
1.7.3 Employees taking parental leave in addition to maternity leave must commence the parental leave immediately on expiry of the maternity leave without a return to work after expiry of the maternity leave and before the commencement of the parental leave.
1.7.4 Parental leave shall consist of a period not exceeding thirty-seven (37) consecutive weeks.
1.7.5 An employee who gives less notice than specified in 1.7.2 shall be eligible for a period of parental leave of thirty seven consecutive weeks less the number of days by which the notice given is less than four weeks.
1.7.6 An employee may terminate the parental leave earlier than the date set out in 1.7.4 or 1.7.5 by giving written notice not less than one pay period prior to the day the employee wishes the leave to terminate.

Parental Leave (Maternity). Upon request, an employee shall be entitled to take parental/maternity leave without pay as per the provisions under the Employment Standards code in effect on the signing of this collective agreement and as amended from time to time.
Parental Leave (Maternity) for the birth and care of a child Is a birth mother having continuous service with the University of: • at least 24 months; Leave for a continuous period of 52 weeks comprising 14 weeks’ leave at 100% pay (to conclude no later than 14 weeks following the date of delivery) and 38 weeks’ leave at 60% pay. A staff member may request a further period of 52 weeks’ unpaid parental leave to commence immediately following the conclusion of the initial period of 52 weeks’ parental leave. The University will consider each staff member's request on a case by case basis and in accordance with the relevant legislation and the University’s operational requirements. A staff member is not entitled to extend the period of parental (maternity) leave beyond 24 months after the date of birth of the child. • 12-24 months; Leave for a continuous period of 52 weeks comprising 14 weeks’ leave at 100% pay (to conclude no later than 14 weeks following the date of delivery) and leave at 60% pay at the rate of 3.16 weeks for each completed month of service for the first 12 months, plus unpaid leave for any remainder of the continuous 52-week period. A staff member may request a further period of 52 weeks’ unpaid parental leave to commence immediately following the conclusion of the initial period of 52 weeks’ parental leave. The University will consider each staff member's request on a case by case basis and in accordance with the relevant legislation and the University’s operational requirements. A staff member is not entitled to extend the period of parental (maternity) leave beyond 24 months after the date of birth of the child. • less than 12 months Leave for a continuous period of 52 weeks (to conclude no later than 52 weeks following the date of delivery) comprising leave at 100% pay at the rate of 1.16 weeks for each completed month of service (to conclude no later than 14 weeks following the date of delivery) plus unpaid leave for the remainder of the continuous 52-week period.
Parental Leave (Maternity). Child-Rearing/Adoption) This leave is generally for teachers who have exhausted paid sick/FMLA leave benefits, or who are not eligible for such benefits.
Parental Leave (Maternity). A full time County Employee who has been employed by Vanderburgh County for six (6) consecutive months may request and receive up to four (4) weeks of paid leave, upon one of the following events:
1. The birth of the employee’s child;
2. The birth of a child to the employee’s spouse; or
3. The placement of a child for adoption with the employee.
Parental Leave (Maternity). Upon request, an employee shall be entitled to take maternity leave of seventeen (17) weeks and parental leave of up to thirty-seven (37) weeks without pay subject to the following conditions: An employee must have completed twenty-six (26) weeks continuous employment as of the intended date of the leave unless otherwise agreed by the Centre. A written request must be submitted not later than the end of the twenty-second week of pregnancy, indicating length of time required. In cases where an earlier leave is required, a written request must be submitted not later than four (4) weeks before the intended date of leave, indicating length of time requested. In the interest of job performance or employee health, as verified by a qualified medical practitioner, the Centre will have the right to place the employee on maternity leave. Where an employee takes parental leave in addition to maternity leave, the employee must commence the parental leave immediately upon the expiry of the maternity leave without a return to work.
Parental Leave (Maternity). An employee who qualifies for Maternity Leave may apply for such leave in accordance with Maternity Leave “Plan A” or Maternity Leave “Plan B” but not both.
