PATERNITY AND ADOPTION LEAVE. 1. The following leaves of absence shall apply:
a. One (1) day without loss of pay on the day of birth; plus
b. One (1) day without loss of pay if needed within thirty (30) days of the birth.
c. On the adoption of a child or in the case of legal guardianship, one parent will be granted leave of absence without loss of pay to a maximum of three (3) days. The length of such leave will be dependent on the circumstances and the distances involved. If both parents are employees and both are required at the adoption of the same child, leave of absence for the second parent will be granted for one (1) day without loss of pay, if needed, within thirty (30) days of the adoption.

PATERNITY AND ADOPTION LEAVE. One (1) day of leave with full pay will be granted to a father upon birth of his child or one (1) day of leave with full pay on the day when the mother or child leave the hospital. (Maximum of one [1] day of leave with full pay.) One (1) day of leave with full pay will be granted to either parent to make final arrangements to adopt a child.
PATERNITY AND ADOPTION LEAVE. A. Upon advance written request, a total of no more than ten (10) days of paid sick leave will be granted for the birth or adoption of the Member’s child. The number of days will be determined by the Superintendent or his/her designee.
B. Upon advance written request, a total of no more than five (5) days per contract year of paid sick leave will be granted for the birth of the Member’s grandchildren. The number of days will be determined by the Superintendent or his/her designee.
PATERNITY AND ADOPTION LEAVE. A teacher who adopts, or whose spouse gives birth to, a child shall be granted a leave without pay for purposes of caring for the child. The teacher's anticipated date of departure shall be selected in relation to the anticipated due date and/or date the teacher receives the adopted child, and the teacher shall make written application as far in advance as is practicable. This leave may continue until the beginning of the next school year or the beginning of the following school year. In either case the teacher must inform the principal in writing of the expected return date at the beginning of the leave. The provisions of Article 15.7(E) also apply. Upon the written request of the teacher, the leave may be renewed at the discretion of the Principal for an additional school year beyond the original request.
PATERNITY AND ADOPTION LEAVE. During the first 6 weeks after the birth or adoption of a child, an employee may be granted up to two weeks paternity or adoption leave. This leave may be deducted from their accrued sick leave. Paternity or adoption leave is not intended for use in conjunction with any other paid leave.
PATERNITY AND ADOPTION LEAVE. Any full-time employee who legally adopts a child, upon written request, shall be granted leave consistent with the Family and Medical Leave Act. During this period, the employee will continue to receive health and welfare benefits. A father or mother may take two (2) shifts of paid parental leave at time of birth of his/her child. In addition, a father/spouse/partner may use up to ten (10) days of their accumulated sick leave immediately upon the birth of his/her child(ren), and a unit member may use up to ten (10) days of their accumulated sick leave immediately upon the adoption of his/her child(ren) or to attend to matters related to the adoption of his/her child(ren). This leave is in addition to the annual allotment of days for personal business.
PATERNITY AND ADOPTION LEAVE. Fathers of newborns and employees who are adopting a child, may use sick leave in accordance with the provisions in Article 36 (B) (3) and (6). Annual leave and Leave without Pay (including LWOP under the Family and Medical Leave Act - FAMLA) may also be used for the purpose of caring for the new child. Employees may initially request leave for these purposes for a period of up to five (5) months. If circumstances require it, additional requests for leave may be submitted.
PATERNITY AND ADOPTION LEAVE. 1. A partner who is an employee shall be allowed one day of absence with full pay for childbirth purposes, and such leave shall not be deducted from sick leave.
2. A father and/or mother shall be allowed one day of absence for adoption purposes with full pay, and such leave shall not be deducted from sick leave.
3. Where additional time is needed for paternity, additional days may be granted under the Personal Necessity Leave provision.
4. Following childbirth, upon employee request, additional leave (unpaid) may be granted under the Child Care Leave provisions of this Agreement.
