Personal Leave Accrual. All employees shall accrue personal leave at the rate of one and twenty-three hundredths (1.23) hours for each eighty (80) hours in active pay status, excluding overtime hours, not to exceed a total of thirty-two (32) hours accrued in one year.

Personal Leave Accrual. Employees shall be entitled to five (5) personal leave days of eight (8) hours apiece each year. Ten (10) hours of personal leave shall be credited to each employee in the first earnings statement which the employee receives after the first day of January, April, July and October of each year. Employees hired after the start of a calendar quarter shall be credited with personal leave on a prorated basis. Proration shall be based upon a formula of .0192 hours per hour of non-overtime paid. Part-time employees also shall accrue personal leave on the basis of that formula.

Personal Leave Accrual. Employees shall be entitled to four (4) personal leave days each year. Eight hours of personal leave shall be credited to each employee at the end of the pay period which includes the first day of January, April, July and October of each year. Full-time employees who are hired after the start of a calendar quarter shall be credited with personal leave on a prorated basis. Part-time employees shall accrue personal leave on a prorated basis. Proration shall be based upon a formula of .015 hours per hour of non-overtime work. This method of accrual shall take effect April 1, 1992. Prior to that time, employees will continue to accrue personal leave pursuant to the provisions of the 1989 Agreement. Personal Leave Accrual. 20.3.1. Upon hire, full-time faculty under contract for three (3) quarters will be credited with seventy (70) hours of Personal Leave; provided, this initial allocation will be prorated for full-time faculty who begin during an Academic Year, or who are contracted to work a reduced schedule. After completion of an initial contract, full-time faculty accrue Personal Leave at a rate of seven (7) hours for each month in which they are under contract (seventy (70) hours for faculty teaching only during the Academic Year; eighty-four (84) hours for those who teach during the Academic Year and Summer Quarter). Accruals will be prorated for full-time faculty members working a reduced schedule. 20.3.2. Full-time faculty who are not under contract to teach during the summer quarter will accrue fourteen (14) hours of Non-Compensable Leave. 20.3.3. Adjunct faculty hired at the start of quarter will be credited with an initial allocation of Personal Leave hours equivalent to eighteen (18) times their FTEF; adjunct faculty who begin during a quarter will receive an initial allocation of Personal Leave days prorated to reflect the amount of time remaining in the quarter. After the initial quarter of employment, adjunct faculty accrue Personal Leave days at the rate of six (6) times their scheduled FTEF for each calendar month they are in paid status, to a maximum of seventy-two (72) hours per calendar year. 20.3.4. Full-time faculty and adjunct faculty teaching in the academic divisions may accumulate Personal Leave without limit. The College will maintain a faculty member’s accumulated Personal Leave (and if applicable, Non-Compensable Leave) balance for three (3) years following the last quarter in which the faculty member accrued leave, except where the leave has been cashed out as provided in Section 20.5.2 below. 20.3.5. Adjunct faculty teaching in the Continuing Education program will accrue Personal Leave during a quarter in which they are teaching, but may not carry forward accrued leave from one quarter to the next.

Personal leave will be pro-rated for employees who work at least fifty (50%) percent or 1,040 hours annually. For the fiscal year in which new employees begin employment, the number of personal leave days will be prorated. Personal leave may be used for any reason at the employee's discretion. In most cases, personal leave use does not require prior approval but does require that the employee notify his/her supervisor within fifteen (15) minutes of the employee's normal reporting/starting time. Personal leave must be taken in at least two (2)-hour increments, but a smaller amount may be approved by the supervisor for emergency situations, such requests shall not be unreasonably denied. Unused personal leave may be carried forward at the end of the fiscal year as annual leave if the total hours do not exceed the cap.
