Personal Reasons Leave. Bargaining unit members shall be granted up to six (6) days leave each school year for personal reasons. However, such absences for personal reasons shall be charged only to accrued sick leave, and leave for personal reasons shall be noncumulative. Unit members shall not be required to give reasons for personal reasons leave, except that the leave is for "personal reasons."
1. Notification of intent to use personal reasons leave shall be submitted to the administrator no later than twenty-four (24) hours prior to the day the employee wishes to have off, except for an emergency, as determined by the principal.
2. Personal reasons leave shall not be granted on the day preceding or following a holiday, the week prior to or during FSA Testing, nor during the first or last week of school, except in emergency situations. This may only be waived by mutual agreement between the affected employee and the principal. Employees leave requests during these excluded periods shall not be unreasonably denied.

If a member of the unit with a five-hour or more daily assignment finds it necessary to be absent for personal reasons, he/she may secure time off by applying to the immediate supervisor if he/she desires to be absent for a period of time of three (3) hours or less. Such leave is without loss of salary and is granted only when a valid reason for the absence exists. The reason for the leave must be based upon unavoidable personal reasons which cannot be scheduled during non-duty hours. Frequent requests for such absences are to be avoided. Such leave may be approved only when the supervisor is certain the unit member's duty assignment can be adequately covered without the employment of a substitute.

This may only be waived by mutual agreement between the affected employee and the Food and Nutrition Services Director or designee. Personal Reasons leave in excess of three (3) consecutive work days shall not be granted unless approved by the Food and Nutrition Services Director/Designee. Written requests to use personal reasons leave the day preceding or following a holiday or scheduled day off shall be submitted a minimum of seven (7) workdays in advance of the date requested.
Personal Reasons Leave. Employees may apply for and be granted a leave of absence without pay for such reasons as vacations, continuation of absence not covered by the Family and Medical Leave Act, or other matters not specifically covered by the Agreement. Employees shall give four (4) weeks’ written notice of their request for such leave of absence, except in cases of emergency. All such Personal Reasons Leaves of Absence require specific approval and shall not exceed twelve (12) months in duration from the last day worked.

Personal Reasons Leave. 1. Leaves of absence without pay may be granted by the District Administration provided such leave does not seriously inconvenience the District.
2. Except in cases of verifiable emergency, the request for personal reasons leave shall be made in sufficient time for consideration and approval, as well as that reasonably necessary to secure a substitute or suitable replacement for the employee.
3. Leaves of up to ten (10) working days may be granted permanent employees. There shall be a full salary deduction for such leave.
4. After three (3) years of continuous satisfactory service of half time or more, an employee is eligible to request of the District Administration a leave of absence for reasons not listed herein for a period of not more than one (1) year. No salary or employee benefits shall be paid for this leave. The unit member may continue any health and welfare benefits at their own expense during this leave.
5. An employee on leave must advise the District by March 15, in writing, of their intent to return to their full position effective July 1 of the new school year; otherwise the employee will be presumed to have resigned his/her position. The unit member on leave shall receive a written reminder from the District no less than thirty (30) days prior to the March 15 deadline.
