Professional Development and Continuing Education. The School District shall pay the full enrollment cost for all professional development courses and continuing education courses taken by the Assistant Superintendent during this Agreement; provided that such courses are approved in advance by the Superintendent and subject to repayment by the Assistant Superintendent for any course in which the Assistant Superintendent fails to receive a final passing grade or otherwise successfully complete.
Professional Development and Continuing Education. Beginning September 1, 2023, the Employer will budget $250 per full-time bargaining unit employee each September 1 to be placed in an Employee Continuing Development Fund for use that year (September 1 to August 30). The funds will be available for necessary tuition, registration, transportation, lodging, books, and/or supplies for professional development and continuing education. Unused funds do not roll over to the following year. No later than September 1, 2023, a Professional Development and Continuing Education Committee will be created with two Union representatives and two Employer representatives to review applications and recommend funding of such requests for the year. Recommendations are subject to approval by the Employer.
Professional Development and Continuing Education. 1. The Board encourages the continuing professional growth of the Business Administrator through her participation as she and the Superintendent of Schools might decide, in light of her responsibilities as the Business Administrator, in the following ways:
a. The Business Administrator may be permitted to attend:
i. Informational meetings with other persons whose particular skills or backgrounds would serve to improve the capacity of the Business Administrator to perform her professional responsibilities for the Board;
ii. Visits to other institutions; and
iii. Subject to prior approval of the Board:
1. Conferences, conventions, workshops, programs, and other activities conducted at the local, county, and state levels by recognized educational associations; and
2. Seminars and courses offered by public or private educational institutions.
b. The Business Administrator may be permitted to pursue and seek compensation for graduate school coursework if the coursework culminates in the Business Administrator acquiring a graduate degree conferred by a regionally accredited institution college or university as defined in N.J.A.C. 6A:9-2.1. Courses must be directly related to the duties and responsibilities of the position Business Administrator, and must receive the prior written approval of the Superintendent and Board of Education prior to registration.
2. Payments or reimbursements for all of the above shall not exceed Five Thousand ($5,000) Dollars for the term of the Employment Contract, and shall be made as further outlined herein:
a. Expenses involved with the professional activities under Article 7(c)(ii)(1)(a) in this Contract for meals, lodging, registration, and transportation other than the Business Administrator’s personal vehicle shall be paid for/reimbursed by the Board in accordance with: N.J.S.A. 18A:11-12 and the State of New Jersey Department of the Treasury; Office of Management and Budget Circulars 00-00-XXX xxx 00-00-XXX (XXX Xxxxxxxxx) and any superseding circulars and any additional requirements set forth in N.J.A.C. 6A:23A-7 et seq; Board policy, and upon prior written approval of the Superintendent and the Board. Professional Development and Continuing Education. The Board shall reimburse adjunct faculty for the actual (and receipted) cost of registration for professional meetings, conferences and professional development workshops and seminars pursuant to the following limits:
1) The total maximum amount paid by the Board to the adjunct faculty in Fall or Spring semesters shall be twelve thousand dollars ($12,000). During the winter intersession, Spring semester money or money remaining from the Fall semester shall be used. During the summer session, money remaining from the previous academic year shall be used for reimbursement.
2) In order to receive first tier benefits, the adjunct faculty member must have attained at least the second step in the Per Credit Hour Compensation Schedule (Article 7.A.) for Fall or Spring semesters and be employed during the semester in which professional development or continuing education occurs. For winter intersession reimbursement, the adjunct must have taught in the Fall semester and also have a teaching assignment for the Spring semester. For the summer session reimbursement, an adjunct must be teaching during the summer or have taught during both the previous Fall and Spring semesters and have an assignment for the following Fall semester. In order to receive second tier benefits, the adjunct faculty member must have taught a minimum of 15 semesters and be employed during the semester in which professional development or continuing education occurs. For winter intersession reimbursement, the adjunct must have taught in the Fall semester and also have a teaching assignment for the Spring semester. Professional Development and Continuing Education. Consistent with Board policy and procedures, the Employer shall reimburse the Superintendent for reasonable fees, tuition, travel expenses, and other expenses related to professional development and continuing education. The Employer may reimburse the Superintendent for attendance at other approved state or national development activities or continuing education. The Superintendent's time away from the Employer's principal place of business shall be reasonable, as determined by the Employer.

For the period July 1, 2011 through June 30, 2018, no less than $150 per FTE will be allocated at the unit level proportionate to the number of budgeted full time equivalent positions in the RN levels A-E and RSAM pay grades on July 1 of each year. Decisions on disbursement of funds will be made at the unit level by a committee consisting of a supervisor and three (3) employees selected by the unit staff. Disbursement criteria will be determined at the unit level by the employees and the supervisor. In addition, unit staff will determine criteria for addressing competing requests and equitability.

Professional Development and Continuing Education. The City agrees to budget for and to pay for the Employee’s mandatory State bar dues, registration at the state Annual Judicial Conference and any additional courses, trainings or classes as deemed necessary and pre-approved by the Presiding Judge.
