Professional Improvement Activities a. Applicants shall submit a program of academic study for sabbatical leave and shall undertake a full program of at least twelve (12) hours of graduate study per semester. The program shall be designed to increase the teacher’s knowledge in the area of his/her current teaching assignment. b. Applicants who desire to travel must submit a complete statement of the proposed itinerary. Acceptable travel is defined as travel in foreign countries or travel that will enrich the teacher’s experience and understanding of other peoples and other cultures. Such travel shall be for at least twelve (12) hours of graduate study per semester from an accredited university or the Nevada Department of Education re-certification division; or be a part of the total hours earned under the requirements paragraph (a). All requirements of paragraph (a) will need to be completed. c. The purpose of sabbatical leave shall be flexible enough to provide for the needs of the individual and schools. Unusual cases should be given special consideration by the Superintendent and Board of Trustees.

It shall be the responsibility of each individual teacher to maintain licensure through the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education as a condition of employment as well as maintain compliance with all Massachusetts educator licensure laws and regulations including any requirements to maintain a current Individual Professional Development Plan on file with the school.

Professional Improvement Activities. A. A professional improvement activity may be eligible for reimbursement if it is approved by the District and relevant to the curriculum being taught by the Educator requesting it; such activities may include, but are not limited to, coursework, technical training (e.g., on new equipment or processes), and other similar activities. B. To be eligible for reimbursement, an Educator must apply in writing to the Superintendent- Director for approval prior to commencing a professional improvement activity. The District may prescribe procedures for processing such requests and administering them in a fair and equitable manner. The District will communicate the status of such requests within 15 days. C. The District agrees to reimburse professional improvement activity expenses incurred by Educators subject to the following conditions: 1. The reimbursement rate for professional development activities shall be 50% of the tuition and fees for courses and training programs. 2. If there are extraordinary exp~nses (such as travel and lodging) associated with the activity, xxxx~ expenses for WhIChreImbursement is sought must be detailed in a budget to be provIded along with the initial request described in Section B. The reimbursement shall be 50% of the actual expenses, (not to exceed 50% of the initial budget amount). 3. Preference will be given to courses taken from 'a consortium associated with the District courses taken within a degree program and courses taken in order to secure DESE licensure. 4. Educators must achieve a grade ofB or better in a course or achieve successful completion or certification in an activity to qualify for reimbursement.' 5. In order to receive reimbursement, the Educator must be working for the District at the time of payment. 6. Reimbursement shall be made no later than forty-five (45) calendar days after an Educator submits documentation of expenses and proof of grade achieved for coursework. D. Reimbursement for professional improvement activities in the aggregate shall be subject to the District's budget. The District will reserve $40,000 annually to cover the reimbursements provided by this Article, unless extraordinmy circumstances require otherwise. Individual Educators shall be limited to reimbursement in the total amount of $1,000 annually. An educator who reaches the individual cap may request additional reimbursement from 'remaining professional improvement funds, which request may be granted at the District's discretion.

  • PROFESSIONAL IMPROVEMENT The parties’ support the principle of continuing training of teachers, participation by teachers in professional organizations in the areas of their specialization, leaves for work on advanced degrees or special studies, foreign travel and participation in community educational projects.

  • Professional Improvement Leave A teacher may be granted leave to be used for the teacher's professional improvement. Professional improvement days may be approved by the superintendent and used for the purpose of: 1. Visitation to view other instructional techniques or programs. 2. Conferences, workshops, or seminars conducted by colleges, universities, or vocational schools. The teacher planning to use a professional improvement day shall notify the principal at least one week in advance of the proposed absence. The teacher shall be required to file a written report with the principal within one (1) week of attendance at such event. Also, the teacher may/shall be requested to return with materials and/or information to be shared with other teachers. The expense of attending such visitation, conference, workshop, or seminar will be paid by the Board when the proper reimbursement applications are sent to the district office. In cases where attendance at a convention, workshop, seminar, or other educational activity is deemed to be of value only to the individual teacher, leave may be granted for attendance with either no expenses or limited expenses being underwritten by the district. In these cases, no written or verbal reports will be required.

  • PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND EDUCATIONAL IMPROVEMENT A. The Board of Education agrees to pay the actual tuition costs of courses taken by a teacher at accredited colleges or universities up to three courses per two (2) year fiscal periods from July 1, 2006 to June 30, 2008 and July 1, 2008 to June 30, 2010 respectively, except as follows: 1. No teacher may be reimbursed for courses taken during the first year of teaching in Vineland. 2. Teachers taking courses in the second and third years of employment in Vineland will not receive remuneration until tenure has been secured. The remuneration will then be retroactive and will be paid to the teacher in a lump sum within sixty (60) days after the teacher has secured tenure. 3. All courses must be pre-approved by the Superintendent or his designee subject to the following requirements: (a) A teacher must provide official documentation that he/she has obtained a grade of B or better; (b) Reimbursement shall be paid only for courses directly related to teacher’s teaching field which increase the teacher’s content knowledge and are related to the teacher’s current certification, as determined by the Superintendent or his/her designee in his/her sole discretion; no reimbursement shall be paid for courses leading to a post graduate or professional degree in a field other than education or teaching. Further, effective September 1, 2010, all newly hired teachers shall not be eligible for reimbursement until they are tenured, and they shall not be eligible for retroactive reimbursement upon gaining tenure for courses taken prior to being tenured. (c) The maximum total payments to be made by the Board shall not exceed $130,000.00. Courses shall be applied for no earlier than the following dates: Summer Session - April 1 Fall/Winter Session - June 1 Spring Session - October 1 Courses must, as set forth hereinabove in this sub-article 18.A.3, be pre-approved by the Superintendent or his designee, prior to the teacher commencing the course(s); and (d) Teacher taking courses shall sign a contract requiring them to reimburse the Board for all tuition paid for a course if the teacher shall voluntarily leave the employ of the Board within one (1) full school/academic year of completion of said course, except that reimbursement shall not be required when the teacher shall voluntarily leave the employ of the Board due to a significant, documented life change. 4. Tuition reimbursement costs shall be a sum not to exceed the actual cost of college credits charged in an accredited public State college/University of the State of New Jersey. B. When the Superintendent initiates in-service training courses, workshops, conferences and programs designed to improve the quality of instruction, the cooperation of the Vineland Education Association will be solicited. Notwithstanding the above, the initiation of in-service training courses, workshops, conferences and programs shall be determined solely at the discretion of the Board. C. One professional leave day may be granted to a teacher upon request, according to the following guidelines: 1. The professional day may be for attendance at a workshop, seminar or visit to another school for the expressed purpose of self professional improvement for the job. 2. The request shall arrive in the office of the Superintendent of Schools at least ten (10) working days prior to the date requested and shall be reviewed by the immediate supervisor prior to submission. The Board reserves the right to deny a professional leave day before or immediately following a holiday or on a day which by its nature suggests a hardship for providing a substitute. 3. No more than two teachers from any one elementary school or from any one department in the secondary schools may be granted a professional leave for a given day. 4. The teacher may be required to submit a report to the Superintendent of Schools, Assistant Superintendent, supervisor (s), principal and staff regarding the activity of the professional day. 5. Costs incurred by the teacher for the professional day authorized under this Section shall be the teacher’s responsibility. 6. A maximum of 90 professional leave days may be authorized for the school year which shall be apportioned as follows: elementary, 35; grades seven and eight, 20; and high school, 35. D. If the Board initiates a teacher’s attendance at a professional workshop, seminar or visit, the expenses shall be the responsibility of the Board. Further, this day shall not be subtracted from the 90 professional leave days granted to teachers of the Association. E. The Board agrees to pay the full cost of courses taken by secretaries related to skills and knowledge improvement when such courses are required and approved by the Board. F. The Board and the Association agree that it is important to communicate when developing and implementing current and future learning technologies, including but not limited to distance and on-line learning.

  • Development Activities The Development activities referred to in item “b” of paragraph 3.1 include: studies and projects of implementation of the Production facilities; drilling and completion of the Producing and injection xxxxx; and installation of equipment and vessels for extraction, collection, Treatment, storage, and transfer of Oil and Gas. The installation referred to in item “c” includes, but is not limited to, offshore platforms, pipelines, Oil and Gas Treatment plants, equipment and facilities for measurement of the inspected Production, wellhead equipment, production pipes, flow lines, tanks, and other facilities exclusively intended for extraction, as well as oil and gas pipelines for Production Outflow and their respective compressor and pumping stations.

  • Additional Improvements Common Area Operating Expenses shall not include Real Property Taxes specified in the tax assessor's records and work sheets as being caused by additional improvements placed upon the Industrial Center by other lessees or by Lessor for the exclusive enjoyment of such other lessees.   • Independent Activities 14.1 Except as expressly provided herein, each party shall have the free and unrestricted right to independently engage in and receive the full benefit of any and all business endeavours of any sort whatsoever, whether or not competitive with the endeavours contemplated herein without consulting the other or inviting or allowing the other to participate therein. No party shall be under any fiduciary or other duty to the other which will prevent it from engaging in or enjoying the benefits of competing endeavours within the general scope of the endeavours contemplated herein. In particular, without limiting the foregoing, no party shall have any obligation to any other party as to: (a) any opportunity to acquire, explore and develop any mining property, interest or right presently owned by it or offered to it outside of the Property at any time; and (b) the erection of any mining plant, mill, smelter or refinery, whether or not such mining plant, mill, smelter or refinery treats ores or concentrates from the Property.

  • Professional Activities The Superintendent/Principal shall be encouraged to attend appropriate professional meetings at the local, state, and national levels. Within budget constraints, such costs of attendance shall be paid by the Board. The Superintendent/Principal’s attendance at professional meetings at the national level must have prior approval of the Board.

  • School Improvement 1. The Board and the Association agree that employee participation in decision making is effective in providing positive results for education. 2. The provisions contained in this section shall apply to all school improvement plans, programs or processes set forth by school improvement committees established in the Xxxxxxx-Xxxxxx School District as a result of Section 1277 of the Revised School Code. 3. It is understood that participation on school improvement committees is voluntary. Further, employees who participate, or are non-participants, in such activities shall not be negatively evaluated for any conduct relative to such committees. 4. In the event that any provision(s) of a school improvement plan, program or process or application thereof violates, contradicts, or is inconsistent with this Collective Bargaining Agreement, the Collective Bargaining Agreement shall prevail.

  • Initial Improvements Subtenant may, at its option and subject to the provisions of the Prime Lease, including, without limitation, Article 8 thereof, complete certain initial improvements to prepare the Demised Premises for Subtenant’s occupancy thereof as described in the Work Letter Agreement attached hereto and made a part hereof as Exhibit B (the “Initial Improvements”), at Subtenant’s sole cost and expense without any contribution or improvement allowance from Sublandlord described in the Work Letter Agreement attached hereto and made a part hereof as Exhibit B); provided, however, Subtenant shall not make or permit anyone to make any Initial Improvements without the prior written consent of Sublandlord, which shall not be unreasonably withheld or delayed, and of Prime Landlord in accordance with the Prime Lease. In connection with the foregoing, Subtenant shall submit to Sublandlord, for prior written approval by Sublandlord, which shall not be unreasonably withheld or delayed, and Prime Landlord, complete plans and specifications for any and all Initial Improvements; including, without limitation, schematic designs and work drawings. Any and all costs and expenses associated with the acquisition of cabling, equipment, furniture, security systems, or other personal property for Subtenant or the Demised Premises or the installation or placement of any of the foregoing within the Demised Premises or with the project management for the performance of the Initial Improvements (collectively, “Subtenant’s Personal Property and Services”), shall be paid for by and be the sole responsibility of Subtenant. Sublandlord acknowledges and agrees that Subtenant shall not be required to remove any Initial Improvements upon the expiration or earlier termination of this Sublease unless the removal is required by Prime Landlord or Sublandlord is otherwise obligated to pay Prime Landlord the costs of any removal of any Initial Improvements pursuant to Section 8(e) of the Prime Lease.
