Professional Teacher Status. For the purposes of this section, a teacher, school librarian, school adjustment counselor, school nurse, school social worker or school psychologist who has served in the public schools of a school district for the three previous consecutive school years shall be considered a teacher, and shall be entitled to professional teacher status as provided in section forty-two. The superintendent of said district, upon the recommendation of the principal, may award such status to any teacher who has served in the principal's school for not less than one year or to a teacher who has obtained such status in any other public school district in the commonwealth. A teacher without professional teacher status shall be notified in writing on or before June fifteenth whenever such person is not to be employed for the following school year. Unless such notice is given as herein provided, a teacher without such status shall be deemed to be appointed for the following school year. School principals, by whatever title their position may be known, shall not be represented in collective bargaining, but each principal, upon the written request of the principal, shall meet and discuss the terms and conditions of the principal's employment in the principal's school district with the district's superintendent or the superintendent's designee, at a time to be determined by the superintendent and may be represented by an attorney or other representative. School principals shall enter into individual employment contracts with their employing districts concerning the terms and conditions of employment. The initial contract with each individual school district shall be for not less than 1 year nor more than 3 years. The second and subsequent contracts shall be for not less than 3 nor more than 5 years unless: (i) said contract is a 1 year contract based on the failure of the superintendent to notify the principal of the proposed nonrenewal of his contract pursuant to this section; or (ii) both parties agree to a shorter term of employment. Notwithstanding the past employment conditions of a school principal, the conditions established by this paragraph shall apply to the initial contract of each school principal. Failure of the superintendent to notify a principal of the proposed nonrenewal of his contract at least sixty days prior to the expiration date of such contract shall automatically renew the contract for an additional one year period. Professional Teacher Status. Professional Teacher Status (PTS) is earned after three years of service in the Stoneham Public Schools under a required Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) license. All teachers are required by the DESE to maintain their DESE license to remain a teacher in the Stoneham Public Schools. The period of time a teacher is on a “license waiver” is not counted towards the three year requirement for PTS. PTS maybe granted in less than three (3) years at the discretion of the Superintendent and under DESE guidelines.
Professional Teacher Status. The status of a teacher who meets the requirements under M.G.L. c. 71, § 41.
Professional Teacher Status. A teacher who has served in FRCS for the three previous consecutive school years who has met the required evaluation standards and has been granted professional teacher status by the administration on day one (1) of their fourth year of teaching excepting teachers who have completed 3 or 4 years by the beginning of the 2024-2025 school year. Professional Teacher Status. In order to attain Professional Status, the Educator should achieve ratings of proficient or exemplary on each Performance Standard and overall. The principal’s decision is subject to review and approval by the Superintendent.
Professional Teacher Status. This agreement is not meant to affect or alter the way an educator earns Professional Teacher Status in the Chicopee Public Schools. The 2019-2020 school year will count as a full year toward PTS. Any non-PTS educator can be non-renewed and will be notified by June 15, 2020.

The Executive Director, upon recommendation of the appropriate supervisor, may award such status to a teacher who has served in the school for not less than one year or a teacher who has obtained such status in any other public school district in the Commonwealth when awarded such status by the Executive Director. Notification to a teacher not being reappointed must be made by June 15 or at an earlier date in that school year. A teacher who attains professional teacher status will have continuous employment in the service of the school system, subject to the school’s possession of a valid certificate to operate from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education and available funding for that position. Nothing in these provisions will be considered as restricting the Executive Director/designee from changing teaching assignments or altering or abolishing supervisory assignments except that, by law, no teacher may be assigned to a position for which he/she is not legally qualified. Discipline of employees shall be in accordance with, and follows the procedures, contained in M.G.L., c. 71, s. 42 and 42D.

  • Professional Qualifications It shall be a condition of continued professional employment that employees must apply for enrolment in their appropriate professional licensing body by the thirtieth day of continuous service.

  • RELATIONSHIP WITH DIRECTORS Directors, officers and employees of the Advisor or an Affiliate of the Advisor may serve as Directors, officers or employees of the Company, except that no director, officer or employee of the Advisor or its Affiliates who also is a Director shall receive any compensation from the Company for serving as a Director other than reasonable reimbursement for travel and related expenses incurred in attending meetings of the Board.

  • PROFESSORS AND TEACHERS A professor or teacher who makes a temporary visit to a Contracting State for a period not exceeding two years for the purpose of teaching or conducting research at a university, college, school or other educational institution, and who is, or immediately before such visit was, a resident of the other Contracting State shall be exempt from tax in the first-mentioned Contracting State in respect of remuneration for such teaching or research.

  • Professional Development Program (a) The parties agree to continue a Professional Development Program for the maintenance and development of the faculty members' professional competence and effectiveness. It is agreed that maintenance of currency of subject knowledge, the improvement of performance of faculty duties, and the maintenance and improvement of professional competence, including instructional skills, are the primary professional development activities of faculty members. (b) Information collected as part of this program shall be the sole property of the faculty member. This information or any judgments arising from this program shall not be used to determine non-renewal or termination of a faculty member's contract, suspension or dismissal of a faculty member, denial of advancement on the salary scale, nor affect any other administrative decisions pertaining to the promotion or employment status of the faculty member. (c) A joint advisory committee consisting of three regular faculty members who shall be elected by and are P.D. Committee Chairpersons and three administrators shall make recommendations for the operation, financing and management of the Professional Development Program.

  • Professional and Education Leaves (a) Leave of absence with pay or without pay may be granted to employees to attend professional and educational meetings, courses, or other events which may be judged beneficial to the employee's professional development, especially as it relates to her responsibilities with the Employer.

  • Student Teachers A. The term "student teacher" as used hereinafter shall refer to student teachers, intern teachers and all other such programs. Agreement to become a supervising teacher of a student teacher shall be strictly voluntary and is recognized not to result in such bargaining unit members becoming supervisors within the meaning of the Public Employment Relations Act (PERA). Probationary teachers are prohibited from accepting student teachers. B. It is expressly agreed that the Association may refuse to permit a bargaining unit member from supervising or directing the activities of a student teacher in the event: 1. The student teacher would displace instructional aides, para- professionals, or other current employees then employed. 2. The use of such student teacher would be used by the Employer as a basis for not hiring additional bargaining unit personnel. C. The Board shall disclose all terms of any agreement between it and any student placing institution. The terms and conditions of placement of student teachers shall be consistent with this agreement, unless otherwise agreed to by the Association. D. The supervising teacher shall have the right to accept an honorarium or other such token of appreciation as may be offered by the student/intern placing institution. E. Prior to acceptance of a student teacher, there shall be a meeting between the teacher, prospective student teacher, principal, president of the Association or an executive committee member of the Association. Following this interview, the teacher shall then have the right to accept or reject the student teacher. F. Any terms or conditions of this section not previously specified in this agreement shall be negotiated between the Board and the Association prior to implementation of future programs.
