Promotional Positions. Promotional positions are those positions, whether permanent or temporary (more than 12 months), which carry a rank greater than that of Corporal.
Promotional Positions. A. In filling any vacancy, the position shall be filled by the District with the best qualified candidate. In making its determination, the District shall consider the employee’s qualifications and seniority with the District, along with other relevant factors.
B. Employees promoted to a higher classification shall be placed on the step in the higher classification pay range that is not less than their current rate of pay and provides an increase of at least 5% on the salary schedule. This provision shall not be retroactive.
Promotional Positions. All promotional police appointments shall be subject to a probationary period of twelve (12) months. The probationary period for police promotional positions shall not be extended.
Promotional Positions a. Employees who elect to return to former positions based on Paragraph 4, above, or are unable to hold a promotional position after two (2) attempts will not be eligible for another promotion for a period of twelve (12) months from the last action taken.
b. Employees who work beyond the ten (10) working days outlined in Paragraph 4, above, and are unable to hold the promotional position will be placed in any open position, at the pay rate for the open position until their seniority will allow them a new position.
Promotional Positions. Whenever any vacancy in a promotional position occurs during the school year, it will be adequately publicized by the Superintendent by email to all unit members work email addresses. The qualifications for the position, its duties, rate of compensation, and the due date of applications will be clearly set forth. The qualifications set for a particular position which is or will be vacant will not be changed unless the Association has been given due notice of such changes.
16.2.1 Promotional positions are defined as positions on the administrative supervisory level including Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent, Director of Finance & Technology, Director of Student Services, Assistant Director of Student Services, 6-12 Guidance Directors, Principals, Assistant Principals, Administrative Assistants, Department Heads/Leadership Team Members, Supervisors and System-Wide Directors.
16.2.2 The District shall have the right to fill any vacancy which occurs in an existing administrative supervisory position by reason of transfer, resignation, dismissal, death, or incapacity with any other person then in the employ of the District in an administrative supervisory position without the need or requirement to post the position as herein before required. The filling of any such position which results in the employment of a person not serving in an administrative supervisory position at the time the position is to be filled, will be posted as hereinbefore required.
16.2.3 All qualified teachers will be given adequate opportunity to make application for such positions, and the District agrees to give due weight to the professional background and attainments of all applicants, the length of time each has been in the school system and other relevant factors. In filling such vacancies, consideration will be given to qualified teachers already employed by the District, and each teacher applicant not selected will, upon request, receive an explanation from the Superintendent or their designee. Appointments will be made as soon as practicable after the due date of the application.
16.2.4 By June 15th or as soon thereafter as such positions become known, the Superintendent will inform the Association of positions expected to be available in the Swansea School System the following year.
Promotional Positions. An existing employee will be offered appointment to a position of Driver Trainer or Driver Coordinator subject to completion of a three (3) month probationary period from the date of commencement in the positon.

Promotional Positions. All vacancies in promotional positions, including specialists and/or special projects, teachers, pupil personnel workers and positions in programs funded by the federal government shall be adequately publicized by the Superintendent.
Promotional Positions. 11.05.1 Permanent and probationary employees may apply for vacant promotional positions. The determination of promotional eligibility for probationary employees making such applications shall be based upon having completed their 5th month (110 scheduled workdays including paid holidays) of probation and having at least two satisfactory evaluations on file.
11.05.2 Qualified applicant(s) from within the District shall be interviewed first and in accordance with Article 11.
