RELIEF FROM NON-TEACHING DUTIES. The Board and the Association agree that a teacher’s primary responsibility is to teach and that his/her energy should be utilized to this end. The Board and the Association recognize that teacher aides and clerical employees are useful and necessary in order to implement this principle. The Association agrees to assist the Board in determining the needs that exist.
RELIEF FROM NON-TEACHING DUTIES. 1. Teachers shall have a duty-free lunch period as long as the students' lunch period. However, classrooms will be open under the supervision of teachers at the first xxxx.
2. The Association acknowledges that, with minor exceptions, the Administrative Policies toward non-teaching duties have been highly satisfactory. The Board and the Association recognize that teaching is a profession and teachers shall not be assigned but may volunteer to assist in the following non- teaching duties:
a. Supervision of playgrounds before and after school.
b. Supervision of the normal loading and unloading of buses.
c. Collecting money from students for non-educational purposes.
d. Preparing form letters to parents and other similar clerical functions.
e. The distribution and inventory of books and supplies except in their classrooms and/or departmental areas.
3. The Association acknowledges that teachers have a responsibility, as they move to and from their classrooms, to regulate the conduct of and protect all students on school property. Under usual circumstances teachers should be available immediately before and after school in or near their classroom to assist students.
4. All teachers and administrators share a responsibility for the movement of students within the building.
5. Substitute teachers are to be employed to replace art, physical education and music teachers who are absent or are removed from regular duties for other school functions.
6. Teachers shall not be expected to perform custodial or maintenance duties.
RELIEF FROM NON-TEACHING DUTIES. The Board and the Union agree that a teacher’s primary responsibility is to teach and that his/her energy should be utilized to this end as much as practical and possible. No teacher shall be required to perform any janitorial tasks or the following tasks:
(1) Gym Fees.
(2) Form 9’s, CA39’s, and CA60’s except on record days.
(3) Health records are to be addressed on record days unless information is needed for WCRESA, state audit, or Xxxxx County Health Department.
RELIEF FROM NON-TEACHING DUTIES. A. The Board and the Association agree that a teacher's primary responsibility is to teach and therefore, the Board shall encourage the administration to carefully review with teachers all such teacher assignments related to the collection of monies and supervision of busses and cafeterias in an attempt to minimize the teacher's responsibilities in these areas; and further agrees to provide adequate clerical and maintenance services.
B. Teachers shall not be required to distribute or inventory books and supplies with the exception of those used in their own classrooms.
C. Whenever standardized tests are administered by teachers to a group of students, said test shall be machine scored whenever such scoring is available.
RELIEF FROM NON-TEACHING DUTIES. A. The Committee and the Association agree that a teacher's primary responsibility is to teach and that every effort possible will be made to utilize their professional talent to this end. The Committee and the Association recognize that teacher aides and part-time clerical employees and others are useful and necessary in order to implement this principle. The parties agree to the following:
1. Teachers shall have a duty-free lunch period as long as the students' lunch period.
2. Health services, such as administering eye or ear examinations and weighing and measuring students, will be performed by appropriate professional personnel.
3. Teachers will not be required to drive students to activities which will take place away from school buildings. Teachers may do so voluntarily, however, in authorized vehicles and with the advanced approval of the Superintendent or their designated supervisor. In no event will the School Committee be responsible for the unauthorized driving of students.
4. Teachers shall be relieved of distribution and inventory of books and supplies except in their own classrooms, of preparing and sending form letters to parents, and other similar clerical functions which do not require the exercise of professional judgment.
5. Teachers shall be relieved of collecting money from students for non-educational purposes. Although teachers may be required to collect and transmit money to be used for educational purposes, they will not be required to tabulate or account for such money.
6. Elementary teachers will not be assigned to supervise lunches or recesses.
B. The parties agree to work toward the following objectives:
1. Teachers shall be relieved of the following assignments: supervision of playgrounds; supervision of cafeterias; supervision of sidewalks and buses.
2. Teachers shall be relieved of duplicating instructional and other materials, cumulative record cards, and other similar functions.
RELIEF FROM NON-TEACHING DUTIES. Teachers shall not be required to perform any of the following:
A. Any work in the roll book, including related Forms 1, 1A and 3.
B. Duty on buses carrying children between home and school.
C. School-wide detention.
D. Duties as to impact aid forms, except distribution and collection and completion of the related membership form.
E. Duty on buses carrying children to and from school activities other than:
1. activities initiated by the teacher;
2. activities beginning during the school day; and,
3. class projects.
F. Clerical work as to health records on the secondary level.
G. Initial clerical entries on health records on the elementary level.
H. Initial clerical entries on cumulative records.
I. Clerical entries on permanent records in the senior high schools and career development centers.
J. Regularly scheduled lavatory duties, except on the elementary level where teachers shall continue to escort their classes to and from the lavatory during the health period.
K. Clerical duties with respect to questionnaires from non-DCPS sources.
L. Scoring citywide tests.
M. Collection of money:
1. in the junior or senior high schools for any purpose;
2. in the career development centers for any purpose other than for shop work; and,
3. in the elementary schools for any purpose other than to collect insurance envelopes, and except in each case of teacher-initiated activities.
N. Clerical duties as to roster cards. O. Clerical duties as to student schedule cards.
RELIEF FROM NON-TEACHING DUTIES. 1. Preparation time of no less than ninety (90) minutes for elementary school teachers will be guaranteed per week with the possibility of additional preparation time being available. Substitutes shall be hired for music, art, and physical education teachers in the event of their absence to fulfill preparation time requirements. It is the option of the classroom teacher to remain in the classroom during preparation time. Effective September 1, 2007, preparation time of no less than three (3) forty (40) minute periods will be guaranteed to elementary school teachers per week. Preparation periods will not be scheduled on the same day. The possibility of additional preparation time may be available. Substitutes shall be hired for music, art, physical education, library media, technology, science, creative learning, social studies, and math teachers in the event of their absence to fulfill preparation, time requirements. It is the option of the classroom teacher to remain in the classroom during preparation time.
2. A committee comprised of three (3) members appointed by the Union and three (3) members appointed by the Administration shall convene no later than October 15, 2007. The committee will examine the feasibility of increasing elementary preparation time. If the committee concludes by majority vote that available time already exists or additional time could be made available without impacting the School Department budget, then said additional preparation time will be provided. The School Business Manager will certify that there will be no financial impact on the budget. All preparation time is defined as unassigned individual work time.
3. Teachers are not responsible for the collection of monies associated with commercial ventures.
RELIEF FROM NON-TEACHING DUTIES. 8.1 The Committee and the Association acknowledge that a teacher’s primary responsibility is to teach and that his or her energies should, to the extent possible, be utilized to this end. It is recognized, however, that to teach effectively, a proper educational atmosphere must be provided. Such an atmosphere can only be obtained when the teacher’s responsibilities to pupils extend to areas beyond the academic.
8.2 Teachers will not be required to collect money for non-educational purposes except in the following cases: A) Lunch money on a regular basis; B) Collecting money for pupil insurance annually. C) Collecting money for school-sponsored fundraisers provided that the money is in a sealed envelope with the student’s name on it and the total amount of money inside.
8.3 Efforts will be made by the Committee and the Association to improve present practices of maintaining registers and preparing report cards.
8.4 The Committee will investigate means by which teachers may be relieved of recess duty
8.5 The Association President and Vice President, or two co-Presidents, shall be relieved of any non- teaching duties.
8.6 The administration will endeavor to schedule the President and Vice President (or two Co- Presidents) in such a way as to facilitate joint meetings with the administration when necessary.

20.1. Teachers shall not be required to perform any of the following:

26.02 if the District continues the practice of designating grade-level coordinators in the english Department, any teacher so designated will receive no other building assignment.
