Rest Periods and Lunch Periods. (a) Computer Centre - all employees shall have three (3) fifteen (15) minute paid rest periods per shift.
(b) Claims Centres and all other operations (Head Office, Branch Offices, Resident Locations) - all employees except those covered by Article 12.03(b) and (c) shall be permitted a paid rest period of fifteen (15) consecutive minutes in the first and second half of a shift.
(c) Lunch Periods - except as otherwise provided in this Agreement, employees may select lunch periods from thirty (30) minutes to ninety (90) minutes at or near the mid-point of the shift, subject to adequate coverage being provided in all areas during business hours or hours of operation and to other operating requirements.
Rest Periods and Lunch Periods. A. All eight (8) hour employees shall be given a fifteen (15) minute rest period during the first half of their workday and a fifteen (15) minute rest period during the second half of their work day.
B. Employees shall be completely relieved of all duties and responsibilities during the period assigned for lunch, except in those cases where they are required to remain on the premises during their lunch period. When employees are required to remain on the premises, the lunch period shall be considered a part of their work shift and shall be for a period of thirty (30) minutes.
Rest Periods and Lunch Periods. (a) Every employee will be allowed one (1) paid rest period of fifteen (15) minutes during each one-half (1/2) shift. Rest periods will be arranged as near the mid-point of each one-half (1/2) shift as possible. Every employee shall be granted, and the Company shall arrange, a lunch period one-half (1/2) hour to be scheduled to commence near the mid-point of each shift. Such rest and lunch periods shall be from the time the employee leaves his job to the time he returns to the job.
(b) Any change in the rest and lunch periods presently existing for employees working in Brewhouse, Cellars and Operating Engineers shall be mutually agreed upon between the Company and the Union, in writing.
Rest Periods and Lunch Periods. AFSCME Police employees who are required to remain in a status of continuous response shall be compensated for a shift that includes breaks and lunch periods. Other employees are governed by Article 12, Section 3 of the Agreement.

Effective 2017 June 12: All employees of the City shall be granted a ten (10) minute paid rest period in the first half and second half of each full working shift (e.g. seven (7) or eight (8) hours). Wherever possible, employees who work less than a full working shift but for no less than four (4) hours shall be granted one ten (10) minute paid rest period. Employees working longer than five (5) consecutive hours shall be entitled to an unpaid lunch period.

Rest Periods and Lunch Periods. SECTION 1: The Employer agrees to provide to all Employees rest periods of ten (10) minutes duration at or near the middle of each half shift.
SECTION 2: An unpaid lunch period will be provided of between thirty (30) and sixty (60) minutes duration at or near the middle of each shift. Employees who remain on duty during lunch periods shall have a paid lunch.
Rest Periods and Lunch Periods. All employees shall be entitled to a fifteen (15) minute paid rest period for each four (4) consecutive hours worked. However, two (2) paid rest periods shall be provided whenever an employee is required to work seven (7) or more hours in a day. Employees shall also be allowed a one-half (1/2) hour unpaid and un-interrupted meal period scheduled as near as possible to the middle of the employee’s shift but no later than the 5th hour in the event the shift is seven (7) hours or longer. Rest periods for the individual employees shall be scheduled by the Employer so as not to interfere with the Employer’s operation. Rest periods and meal periods may be interrupted in case of emergency. If there are interruptions, employees will take their full break or lunch after the emergency has ended. With approval from management, an employee may work through their breaks and lunch. The Employer will then pay one additional hour of straight time to the employee.
