HOURS OF WORK, OVERTIME AND PREMIUMS. 13:01 Overtime will be distributed fairly and equitably among the employees who are qualified and capable of performing the work required.
13:02 Overtime as authorized by the Company shall be paid for at the premium rates, as follows:
a) Two (2) times an employee’s regular basic wage rate will be paid for hours worked in excess of eight (8) hours in a day as determined by the work schedule.
b) Two (2) times an employee’s regular basic wage rate will be paid for hours worked on a scheduled day off, and on a statutory holiday in addition to the holiday pay as per Article 12 of this agreement. There will be no doubling up or pyramiding of premium rates. Any hour or hours which have been paid for once at a premium rate shall not be counted again as hours worked for the calculation of premium pay.
13:03 Shifts
HOURS OF WORK, OVERTIME AND PREMIUMS.
20.01 (a) The following is intended to define the normal hours of work for full-time and part-time employees but shall not be interpreted as a guarantee of hours of work per day or per week or days of work per week.

(a) Each party to this agreement understands the success of the business is dependent upon satis- fying customer needs for products and services. In order to meet the normal customer require- ments for products and services, the core hours of work will be 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. each day of the week. In addition, the Company and its employees must be prepared to provide service when necessary on a twenty-four (24) hour basis.
(b) These employees will have either a one-half hour or one hour unpaid lunch period as indicated on the posted work schedule. The Company will endeavour to allocate the meal period four (4) hours after the commencement of the employee’s starting time. However, except in the event of an emergency such employees will have their meal not later than five (5) hours from their scheduled starting time. The parties may agree locally to hours of work other than those set out herein.
13.03 Work schedules indicating the employee’s days and hours of work, lunch periods, and days off, will be de- termined locally by mutual agreement of management and the employees in an effort to accommodate the employees’ wishes while still meeting the needs of the
13.04 Insofar as possible shift work shall be kept to a min- imum; however, it is understood and agreed that em- ployees shall be required to work on a shift basis to complete assigned work which they are qualified to do.
13.05 The Company will provide two (2) fifteen (15) minute coffee breaks during each work day, one (1) in the morning and one (1) in the afternoon.
13.06 It is understood and agreed that the Company’s oper- ations must be maintained and that employees are required, by the Company, to respond to reasonable requests to work overtime for this purpose.
(a) One and one-half (1½) times the regular hourly rate for hours worked on a statutory holiday.
(b) One and one-half (1½) times an employee’s regular hourly rate for all hours worked in excess of forty (44) hours in a regular scheduled week.
(c) For hours worked on call between midnight to 7:00 a.m., for each call out, employees shall be paid one and one-half (1½) times for hours worked

HOURS OF WORK, OVERTIME AND PREMIUMS. 28.01 The normal work week begins on Sunday at 07H00 AM.
28.02 The average annual normal work week is forty (40) hours. The work schedules include normal workdays divided into day, evening and night shifts, and are established by the management.
28.03 The University will endeavour to maintain stability and consistency within each employee’s schedule. The work schedules may be changed occasionally, with the agreement of the employee concerned, to meet the operational needs. In such instances, it is important to comply with the total annual number of hours of work scheduled for the position. The schedules of work will be determined by the University and may be amended from time to time to meet various needs of the University campus. When here is a permanent assignment change between teams, unless the employee and the manager agree to a sooner agreement, the employee shall be provided four (4) weeks’ written notice of the change. Pre-approved vacation or other leave for employees who are required by the Employer to change Teams will be honoured.

HOURS OF WORK, OVERTIME AND PREMIUMS. 8.01 It is understood and agreed that the provisions of this Article are intended only to provide a basis for calculating time worked for all employees and shall not be considered a guarantee of hours of work per day or week, the days of work per week, or a guarantee of working schedules.
8.02 Due to the irregular nature of the business, employees may be required to work in excess of eight (8) hours per day and forty-eight (48) hours per week. The Union agrees on behalf of all employees to execute any necessary consent required for the Employer to make any permit applications required to work the maximum permissible hours under the Employment Standards Act.
8.03 Overtime will be paid at the rate of time and one-half the base hourly rate as follows:
a. Work performed in excess of forty-four (44) hours per week. For clarity, a week is defined as Monday through Sunday;
b. Work performed on a Statutory Holiday as set out in Article 10.04;
c. There shall be no pyramiding of hours worked for this or any other purpose under the Agreement. For clarity, employees shall not be entitled to claim daily overtime and weekly overtime in the same week;

21.1 The regular annual hours of work for a regular full-time employee shall be one thousand nine hundred and fifty (1950) hours. The regular daily hours of a regular full-time employee shall be 7.5 hours.
21.2 It is recognized that the Employer may implement alternative schedules based on modified weeks for employees covered by an overtime averaging permit under the Employment Standards Act and other employees who work a modified work week.
(a) Regular hours of work for regular full-time employees on an modified work week shall be:
i. These alternative schedules shall provide for more scheduled days off compared to the 7.5 hour schedule;
ii. Weekly hours will not exceed an average of 37.5 hours over the rotation cycle of the schedule and annual hours of work shall not exceed one thousand nine hundred and fifty (1950) one thousand nine hundred and fifty-two (1952) hours.
iii. The number of consecutive shift days of work shall be no more than seven (7) days.
(b) The Employer shall post a schedule no less than fourteen (14) calendar days in advance to run for at least two (2) biweekly pay periods.
(c) It is recognized that both parties are required to sign the overtime averaging permit upon the renewal of the Collective Agreement, or annually when the Agreement is expired, in order for employees to continue working on a modified work week.
(d) Where the parties wish to continue modified work weeks, both the Union and the Employer agree to sign the renewed averaging permit at least 30 days before the expiration of the previous averaging permit, provided that the employer has not changed the period over which the hours are averaged.
(e) A party is required to provide the other party with at least 30 days’ notice, before the expiration of the averaging permit if they will not be signing the renewed averaging permit.
21.3 Em ployees sha ll be e ntitled to a fifteen (15) m inute rest break in the first half and in the second half of the ir regu la r daily hours of work. The Em p lo yer agrees to continue providing a staff room for use during breaks.
21.4 If an employee is required to work in excess of the regular hours of work in Article 20.1, including the regular hours of work for a scheduleunder 21.02, the employee shall be paid one and one-half times (1-1/2 x) their straight-time rate for the overtime hours worked.
