Shift Duration. (a) In the event that an existing shift duration
(i) does not result in the provision of satisfactory service to the public; or
(ii) is operationally impractical for other reasons; the Employer will consult with the Union, with the view to minimizing any adverse effects that a change to existing shift duration may have on Employees.
(b) The Employer will give the Employees sixty (60) calendar days advance notice of the shift requirement; and invite expressions of interest.
(c) The expression of interest notice shall include the required:
(i) number of Employees;
(ii) classification;
(iii) abilities, experience, qualifications, special skills and physical fitness, where applicable, reflecting the functions of the job concerned; and
(iv) shift duration.
(d) If there are more qualified volunteers than required, preference in filling the positions shall be given to the Employees with the greatest length of seniority.
(e) If there are fewer qualified volunteers than required, the Employer shall staff the shifts with qualified Employees, in reverse order of seniority.
(f) Nothing in this Article precludes the Employer from:
(i) maintaining any and all shift arrangements in effect prior to the signing of this Agreement;
(ii) hiring Employees to staff a specific shift duration;
(iii) continuously assigning an Employee to a specific shift duration at the Employee’s request, where such continuing assignment is acceptable to the Employer.
Shift Duration. (a) Ordinary time shifts must be continuous and limited in duration to a minimum of 5 and a maximum of 10 ordinary hours. The parties agree to a commitment to review part-time and full- time shifts less than 6 hours, with a view to increasing the minimum shift lengths where practical, taking into account operational requirements.
(b) Notwithstanding Clause 24.2(a), by agreement between Trident and the majority of Employees concerned in a particular work group, or site, ordinary working hours exceeding 10 but not exceeding 12 hours per shift may be introduced subject to:
(i) proper health monitoring procedures being introduced;
(ii) suitable roster arrangements being made;
(iii) proper supervision being provided;
(iv) adequate breaks being provided; and
(v) an adequate trial or review process being implemented where 12 hour shifts are being introduced for the first time.
(c) Employees are entitled to be represented by the Union, or other representative of their choice, for the purposes of negotiating such an agreement. Once agreement is reached it must be reduced to writing and kept as a time and wages record.
(d) Clause 24.2(b) is not intended to prevent Trident implementing 12 hour rosters through the use of regular rostered overtime (subject to the requirements in the section 62 of the Act in relation to the right of Trident to require reasonable overtime) or individual flexibility arrangements made pursuant to Clause 8.

(b) The minimum number of ordinary hours that an employee may be rostered to work on a shift is: i For a full-time employee; 7.6 ordinary hours; ii For a part-time employee; 20% of the agreed weekly ordinary hours, or four ordinary hours, whichever is the greater; and iii For a casual employee; 4 ordinary hours.
(c) Hours of work on a shift are continuous, except for rest breaks and meal breaks as specified within this Agreement.
(d) However, an employee may be rostered to work ordinary hours in broken shifts, that is, in up to two periods of duty, exclusive of meal breaks.
(e) An employee who works broken shifts is entitled to be paid for at least three hours for each period of duty on a broken shift, even if the employee works for a shorter time. An employee will be entitled to a broken shift allowance, as set out in this Agreement.
Shift Duration. 13.3.1 The minimum number of ordinary hours that an Employee may be rostered to work on a shift is four hours.
13.3.2 The maximum number of ordinary hours that an Employee may be rostered to work on a shift is 12.
13.3.3 Hours of work on a shift are continuous, except for rest breaks and meal breaks as specified in clause 14.
13.3.4 However, an Employee may be rostered to work ordinary hours in broken shifts, that is, in up to 2 periods of duty, exclusive of rest breaks.
13.3.5 An Employee who works broken shifts is entitled to be paid for at least 3 hours for each period of duty on a broken shift even if the Employee works for a shorter time.
Shift Duration. Alert may be of varying duration; however, Alert will be at least eight

Shift Duration. Shift schedules of four (4) weeks duration will be posted ten (10) days in advance, one (1) Union xxxxxxx may take a copy of the schedule at the time of posting. Should the Home change the shift duration provided for in this Article, then it shall pay to each employee affected by such change at the rate of one and one-half (1½) times their regular pay for the first shift worked by them under the amended shift schedule. Employee’s requests for specific days off must be submitted to the Executive Director or designate fourteen (14) days in advance of the posting of the schedule.
