Shift LeaveCaseload midwives shall qualify for the full entitlement of shift leave (5 days) specified in clause 13.2 of the MECA.
Shift Leave a. Core midwives who work rotating shift patterns or those who work qualifying shifts shall be granted, on completion of 12 months employment on shift work, up to an additional 5 days annual leave, based on the number of qualifying shifts worked. The entitlement will be calculated on the annual leave anniversary date. b. Shift LeaveAn employee whose normal hours of duty fall between 8pm and 6am shall be entitled to Shift Leave. Shift Leave entitlements are based on the number of qualifying hours worked between the above hours (excluding overtime) as set out below and within a 12 month period. For those employed prior to 1 May 2007, the 12 month period is 1 May to 30 April each year. For those employed after 1 May 2007, the 12 month period is aligned with the start date anniversary. Employees must make an application to take Shift Leave by submitting a Leave Request at least 14 days prior to the intended leave date. MercyAscot will endeavour to meet individual requirements wherever possible, however final determination as to when Shift Leave is taken rests with MercyAscot.
Shift LeaveExtra shift leave is for shift workers on rostered and rotating shifts. This refers to Employees who are available as required by the Manager to work through the roster as it applies to the department or work area. Employees who qualify as shift workers under this definition may, on completion of 12 months employment on shift work be granted 1 day’s additional leave per annum for each 20 qualifying shifts worked. A qualifying shift is a shift that involves 2 or more hours of work that fall outside of the core hours of work. Employees may be granted up to a maximum of 5 days additional leave per annum.
Shift Leave. In recognition of the requirement to work rotating standard hours of work over a 24 hour day/ 7 day week period employees appointed to the above positions who meet this criteria shall be granted one additional week (being recognised as 40 hours) of annual leave.
Shift Leave. Shift employees shall be entitled to an additional week’s leave per year, provided that employees working more than one month but less than twelve months on shift shall receive a pro rata proportion of the extra week’s leave.
Shift Leave. 18.1 On the completion of 30 night shifts within a 12-month period a nurse may apply for one days leave to be taken within 30 days of the completion of the 30th nights shift worked. 18.2 This leave entitlement is paid at T1.0, is not transferable and not payable in cash.
