Short Term Plan. The Employer will provide, at no cost to the employee, a Short Term Income Protection Plan. Benefits would only be payable beginning with the fourth day of disability unless the employee is hospitalized, in which case, the employee would be eligible for benefits immediately. An employee who is admitted for Day Surgery and has to remain off work for any time due to such surgery shall be considered to be hospitalized for the purposes of the Short Term Plan. Such absence shall be verified by a medical certificate acceptable to the Employer.

(a) No later than the end of the first full week of each calendar month of the NXP Calendar, Trident shall provide to NXP Semiconductors its non-binding short-term plan (“STP”) for the following 12 (twelve) months; provided that any STP provided by Trident during the third quarter of a calendar year shall include Trident’s non-binding short-term plan for the full subsequent calendar year.

When a full-time employee is off on Short Term Disability and a Statutory Holiday occurs, the staff member does not lose a sick day; however, they do lose a Statutory day for the holiday. No Statutory Holidays are accumulated when on Short Term Disability. If any full-time employee is on Short Term Disability at December of any year, that employee would not revert to full pay as of January but would continue on at their current rate of pay until a total of thirteen (13) weeks of continuous absence has occurred; at which point application for Long Term Disability benefits should be made. A statement showing the balance of one hundred percent (100%)and two- thirds of salary shall be issued to each full-time employee within thirty (30) days of their return to employment from Short Term Disability by their Department Head.
