Teacher Observations Clause Samples

The Teacher Observations clause establishes the right of school administrators or designated personnel to observe teachers during classroom instruction. Typically, this clause outlines the frequency, notice requirements, and procedures for conducting such observations, which may be formal or informal and can be used for performance evaluations or professional development. Its core function is to ensure that teaching standards are maintained and to provide a structured process for feedback and improvement, thereby supporting educational quality and accountability.
Teacher Observations. A teacher shall be given a copy of written teacher observation reports. Either the teacher or administration may request a conference to discuss the report after it has been given to the teacher. If such a conference is requested, it shall be held prior to placing the evaluation report in the teacher’s file. A joint committee shall be formulated to review observation/evaluation procedures. The committee shall be comprised of three teachers appointed by the Association, three individuals appointed by the Board, the Superintendent of Schools, and the Association President. The committee shall have authority to make recommendations subject to the approval of the Association and the Board.
Teacher Observations. Probationary and tenured teachersobservations and evaluations are addressed and detailed in the District document, “Annual Professional Performance Review”. This document governs the process and contents to be used in determining a teacher’s performance. This document is revised to reflect that it governs only Section 9.01.1 of this collective bargaining agreement, and that teacher evaluations will be conducted by the designated certified administrator and/or other certified administrators.
Teacher Observations. The District shall not view teachers’ livestreamed classes as a substitute for the completion of in-person classroom observations by District administrative staff; assuming, sufficient reasonable opportunities exist during the school year for District administrators to complete classroom observations in person. If District schools are closed due to the pandemic for a considerable time period or if a teacher is instructing solely in an online platform, the District administration may observe livestreamed classes in order to complete classroom observations, if all of the following requirements are met: a. the District shall notify the Association that school closures necessitates that in-person teacher classroom observations by the administration cannot reasonably occur; b. the District administration notifies a teacher at least 3 days in advance that a classroom observation will occur; c. no negative inferences shall be drawn regarding a teacher’s classroom performance as a result of technology issues or problems that are not reasonably within the teacher’s control; and d. applicable District policies and rules regarding teacher observations shall be followed to the greatest extent practical.
Teacher Observations. A. Teacher observations will be handled in accordance with the Annual Professional Performance Review (APPR) plan. Unit members supervision and evaluation shall be governed by the processes and procedures described in the District and Bargaining Unit agreed upon and approved APPR plan. B. Each teacher will be notified one week in advance of the date and class period to be observed. Observation is to be conducted using forms agreed upon by the Superintendent and the Organization. Within fifteen (15) school days of the observation, there will be a post-observation meeting where the teacher will receive a written evaluation of the observation. The teacher and the observer will sign all copies in the teacher’s personnel file. The teacher has the right to offer a written response to the evaluation within ten (10) days of receipt by the teacher. C. For those teachers who are in their final year of probation, at least sixty (60) days prior to the end of the probation period, the Superintendent of Schools will notify the probationary teacher, in writing, that an affirmative recommendation for appointment on tenure will or will not be made. D. There will be no observation leading to formal evaluations during the first or last ten
Teacher Observations. An evaluation rating shall be assessed based upon the following evaluation interactions: The Parties agree that once each year a teacher or the evaluation team may request an additional formal observation, with the understanding that priority is given to teachers at risk of or in the process of discipline or performance management. 1. At IHSCA, the formal observations shall be conducted only by the official school evaluator(s) as defined above. New teachers and probationary teachers will have formal observations at least two (2) times per school year, once per semester. All other IHSCA teachers will receive at least one formal observation per school year. 2. At IJLA, all teachers will have formal observations at least two (2) times per school year, once per semester.
