Travel Policies. Current NPS and TPWD policies regarding international travel require a formal approval of a written application, a process that can take more than four weeks to complete. This process effectively precludes spur-of-the-moment travel to Mexico, and limits the ability of managers and their staff to immediately respond to requests for assistance. While one manager indicated that they “change out of their uniforms and take their personal vehicles across the border” rather than negotiate the formal agency approval process, revision of the NPS and TPWD international travel policies could facilitate last-minute travel and eliminate a potential constraint to cooperative management activities

Travel Policies. Travel dates to and from the hosting country are determined by AFS and all participants are requested to abide by these dates. * Travel independently AFS Thailand does not allow participants on all school based program to do the independent travel or travel by his/herself without responsible adults. AFS strongly discourages visits from natural family, relatives, and friends because visits can be very disruptive; visitors not only distract the participants from their commitment to a new life, but also impose new responsibilities on the host families and local support structure. The act also adds tension to other students and host families in the local chapter. The visit from natural family, relatives, and friends without prior consent from the AFS office in the hosting country is not permitted. Travel with your natural family, relatives, or friends from home are only permitted with the permission from host family and AFS Thailand and only during school holiday. Independent travel form should be submitted 1 month before visiting period. * Travelling with the host family is allowed during holidays and never during school time. If travelling with host family more than 3 days, you must give details to the AFS Thailand national office. * Travelling with the school is allowed. You need permission of your host family. This is an optional activity so AFS does not reimburse costs of school trips. If travelling with school, school advisor or coordinator more than 3 days, you must give details to the national office. * Travelling for optional activities (Massage Course, Meditation Camp, and Optional Trip) is allowed only during school holidays and never during school time. The travelling is only permitted with the permission from host family, host school and AFS Thailand. The form asking for optional activities should be submitted 1 months before the activities and Program Waiver (PW) is required while you are doing these activities.
