CHECK-IN AND CHECK-OUT. 8.11.1 Specific check-in information will be provided to all Resident students via the Residential Life website (xxxxx://xxxxxxx.xxxxx.xxx). A resident planning to check-in after the stated arrival period, must notify Residential Life prior to the stated check-in time. 8.11.2 Each Resident is given a room key or card access to the apartment/room, and electronic card access to the building through their ID card or a key to the outside/foyer door. Residents may receive additional keys within specific areas of campus, such as mailbox keys. Residents who lose their room or mailbox key, or fail to return keys upon vacating the room, will be charged accordingly.

CHECK-IN AND CHECK-OUT a. Resident agrees to follow all Check-In, Check-Out, and cancellation processes set forth in this Contract and in the Housing Handbook. Failure to follow procedures may result in additional charges or fines being assessed to Resident’s student account. b. A Resident who cancels this Contract prior to the end of the Contract Term agrees to pay any applicable cancellation fees and submit a Contract Cancellation Form with the UHRL Office prior to check out. Failure to submit a Contract Cancellation form will result in a $100 improper Check-Out charge. c. Resident must follow the Check-Out procedures outlined in the Housing Handbook and return all UHRL- issued keys upon Check-Out. Xxxx must be returned by the resident to the Xxxxxxxxxx Service Desk during desk hours or to a UHRL drop-box when the Xxxxxxxxxx Service Desk is closed. UHRL will charge Residents who do not follow Check-Out procedures a $100 improper checkout fee and up to $130 for a lock change/key replacement charge. d. Items left in rooms or common areas following Check-Out or any Contract cancellation will immediately be considered abandoned property. Abandoned items will be thrown away, resold, or donated, at the University’s discretion. Residents will be charged for removal of trash and abandoned items as published in the UHRL Rate Sheet.
CHECK-IN AND CHECK-OUT. Each resident is considered checked-in when she/he obtains the room key. When moving into the assigned room, the resident shall complete, sign and turn in a Room/Apartment Condition report. When vacating the assigned room/apartment, the resident must check out with the Hall Director or his/her designee. Each resident agrees to follow the proper check-out procedures when vacating the premises or relocating within the hall. Failure to follow established check-out procedures may result in improper check-out charges as determined by the University.

An inventory form must be completed and returned to University's office within forty eight (48) hours of official check in. Failure to do so may result in administrative sanctions and/or charges for cleaning, damages and improper check in/out. When moving into the assigned room, the resident shall complete, sign and turn in a Room Inventory Form within forty eight (48) hours of official check in. Failure to do so may result in administrative sanctions and/or charges for cleaning, damages and improper check in/out. When vacating the assigned room, the resident must check out with the staff. The Room Inventory Form and an inspection by designated Housing & Residential Education staff will serve as the basis for check-out charges, if any, that are assessed. Each resident agrees to follow the proper check-out procedures when vacating thepremises or relocating within the system. This includes but is not limited to removing personally owned furniture and equipment, removing all waste and debris, and leaving the room in the same condition as when accepted, normal wear and tear excepted. The resident will be responsible for anycleaning charges if personal items or trash is not removed at check-out as described in the immediately preceding sentence. Maintenance or repair required to return the premises to the same condition as it was at move- in will be performed by University personnel and will be billed to the student. Failure to check-in or check-outwill not release the student from these requirements or any other provision of these Terms & Conditions. Where two or more eligible occupants occupy the same room, suite or apartment and the responsibility for damage, loss or any other charges cannot be ascertained by the University, the cost of the damage, loss or charges will be allocated and assessed equally to all occupants of the room, suite or apartment. Students are responsible for individual and community damages collectively. The eligible occupant will be allowed to remove university owned room furnishings from their room and store them in an off campus location. The Resident will be fully responsible for the condition and safekeeping of the furniture.

Provided their request for early arrival is granted, Student check in may occur prior to the first day of the Contract, and will result in additional nightly fees for early arrival. Cancellation terms (See Section Q below) are effective upon Student check in. Student will not be considered officially checked out of their room until all personal possessions are removed and room keys are returned. Student agrees to follow the current check-out policy when moving out of the residence hall. (See the Illinois Tech Office of Residence Life Handbook for the most current version of the checkout policy and associated fees.) Illinois Tech reserves the right to assess a $150 fee to a student who does not follow check out procedures. Other fees that may be incurred include, but are not limited to, cleaning fees, damage fees, and a nightly fee for each additional day past the contract end date.

When vacating the room/apartment, resident must check-out and report any changes online either with Express Check-Out or by completing a check-out with a staff member, which will serve as the basis for charges or refunds if appropriate. Resident agrees to follow the proper check-out procedures when vacating the premises, which include removing waste and debris and leaving the room/apartment in an acceptable, clean condition. Failure to officially check-in, complete a Room Condition Report, check-out, and/or report changes in the Room Condition Report, will result in a $50 charge. Should extra cleaning by Residence Life personnel be required because of poor housekeeping, a cleaning charge will be assessed.

CHECK-IN AND CHECK-OUT a. Specific check-in information is provided to students prior to the corresponding opening day. If a student will be checking into a residential complex after the stated opening day, they must notify Housing & Residence Life staff. The University is not obligated to hold an assigned room beyond 6:00 p.m. on the first day of classes. b. Residents are required to vacate and remove all personal belongings from their assigned room upon termination of the Housing & Dining Agreement. This is expected to be done within 24 hours of the student’s last examination or 72 hours from their withdrawal from the University. When a student moves from a residential complex or when a room change is made, keys must be returned directly to staff members, and all check- out procedures must be followed. c. Each Resident is given an access card and key (which accesses the corresponding room and mail box). If the Resident loses their key, or fails to return the key upon vacating the room, they will be charged accordingly for a lock change. d. Upon occupation of an assigned space, the University and Resident shall complete and accept electronically an inventory of the number and condition of furnishings, and the condition of the premises assigned to the student. This inventory will be completed again at the end of the Resident’s occupancy, and will serve as the basis for determining billable damages to the room and furnishings. e. If a Resident fails to remove all belongings and trash, or fails to leave the room in satisfactory order, fees will be charged for removing belongings, trash, and/or cleaning. f. If a Resident fails to check out of their room according to published procedures an improper check-out fee will be charged.
