Catastrophic Illness. A catastrophic illness is a severe illness requiring prolonged hospitalization or recovery. Examples would include coma, cancer, leukemia, heart attack or stroke. (Definition reference: xxxxx://xx.xxxxxxxxx.xxx/wiki/Catastrophic_illness)
Catastrophic Illness a. Tenured Teachers who: a) have a catastrophic illness, b) have exhausted all of their current and accumulated sick leave and, c) had at least thirty-one (31) days of unused sick leave at the start of the catastrophic illness shall be granted the greater of thirty (30) additional sick leave days or thirty percent (30%) of the total number of sick days the tenured Teacher had accumulated at the start of the catastrophic illness. Catastrophic illness shall be defined as an extended illness, injury, or surgery which results in an absence that continues for at least thirty-one (31) consecutive workdays.
b. Upon return to service, any unused catastrophic illness days will be credited to the Teacher’s accumulated sick leave.
c. The parties acknowledge that there may be occasions for which a Teacher has exhausted all available sick and personal leave days for use in connection with the Teacher’s personal disability due to a catastrophic illness as defined in Article XVII.A.2.a. above. In such instance, an assessment shall be made by the CTC, in consultation with the Teacher or authorized Teacher representative, of how many sick leave days would be necessary until the disability will cease or until the end of the school term, whichever is less. Once determined, the CTC may request that other Teachers donate a maximum of four (4) sick leave days toward the total number of days needed (one day donation at a time). Such donated days must be used in the school year donated. No later than one (1) week after the use of such donated days, the CTC shall submit the total number of days donated with a complete list of Teachers in order of seniority (Appendix H-2).
d. Upon return to service, a Teacher may continue to use donated sick days, if available, until the conclusion of the school year in which the days were donated.
Catastrophic Illness. Donated leave may be used by a recipient only for “catastrophic illness.” Catastrophic illness means any illness or injury to an employee that is diagnosed by a physician and certified by a physician as rendering the employee unable to work for a period greater than six calendar weeks.
Catastrophic Illness. 14 1. MESPA members may donate to a member in need after the individual has 15 exhausted their personal time and the allowable sick leave bank time. This is not limited 16 to MESPA members it could be to Faculty and Non-Affiliated. A donation will be made 17 through the Xxxx of Business Services office.
18 2. The maximum number of days that a member can collect is 80 days in a one year 19 time period.

Catastrophic Illness. Any employee who has an accumulated sick leave balance of at least ninety (90) days and who, as a result of suffering a single catastrophic illness or injury, has a continuous absence, certified by a physician, that brings his/her sick leave balance below thirty (30) days, shall be treated as a new employee for purposes of calculating wage continuation rates for not more than three (3) years subsequent to the date of his/her return to work.
Catastrophic Illness. Contributions Employees may contribute accrued annual leave to benefit another state employee for catastrophic illnesses of the employee or an immediate family member. Annual leave shall be donated in no less than one (1) hour increments. The contributing employee must identify the specific amount of time donated and the name of the recipient of the donated annual leave on forms provided by the Employer for this purpose. Annual leave used by another state employee pursuant to this provision shall be irrevocably credited to the recipient’s donated leave account.
Catastrophic Illness or Injury is defined as any illness or injury that is expected to incapacitate a unit member for a period of twenty (20) or more consecutive working days.
Catastrophic Illness. During the period commencing 3 years prior to the 464 employee’s normal retirement date as defined by sec. 40.02(42(a)), Wis. Stats., if 465 the employee is injured or ill for more than 50 consecutive calendar days, but 466 less than 6 calendar months, there will be no reduction from the employee’s sick 467 leave accumulation. In order to receive this benefit, the employee must have 468 reached (95 days of sick leave for line personnel, 135 days of sick leave for day 469 personnel) at some point in their career. The employee shall perform alternative 470 duty if it is available and the employee is capable of performing same.
Catastrophic Illness. A. Upon complete exhaustion of paid illness allowance, personal leave, and vacation provisions of this Agreement, a unit member with a minimum of one (1) year continuous employment may request from the Superintendent of Schools a catastrophic illness leave. The Superintendent shall convene a joint committee chaired by the Chief of Human Capital Initiatives to review the request. If the joint committee recommends and the Superintendent approves, a unit member may receive up to ninety-five (95) paid illness days.
B. Upon exhaustion of such paid catastrophic illness leave, the employee may reapply for an additional paid illness leave of up to ninety-five (95) days. The granting of such additional leave is discretionary on the part of the Superintendent and is contingent upon the unit member applying for a disability retirement at the time of their application for an additional ninety-five (95) paid illness days and their resigning from employment with the City School District at the end of such leave if their disability retirement has been approved. No seniority shall accrue during catastrophic illness leave.
Catastrophic Illness. During the period 3-years prior to the employee’s normal retirement date (attainment of 53rd birthday), if the employee is injured or ill for more than 50- consecutive calendar days but less than 6-calendar months, there will be no reduction from the employee’s sick leave accumulation. In order to be eligible for this benefit the employee must have reached 135 accumulated sick leave days at some point in his/her career, and the employee shall perform alternative duty if it is available and if the employee is capable of performing same.
