Column Movement i. An administrator whose qualifications have been determined to qualify him/her to move from one level of preparation to the next higher level (e.g. B-M, M-M+30, etc.) shall be placed on the higher salary scale at the step he/she would have been on as if he/she was initially placed on that preparation level, upon presentation to the Superintendent of satisfactory evidence that the teacher is entitled to the change and upon approval by the Superintendent. Column movement will be implemented following receipt by the Superintendent of such documentation and shall be retroactive to the date that the institution states the work was completed, or retroactive up to 30 days from receipt of such documentation by the Superintendent, whichever is later. Such change may be made at any time if the teacher has notified the Superintendent in writing (or via e-mail) by January 15th of the preceding school year of the expected change and date thereof; otherwise, such change shall be made at the commencement of the next school year. ii. The Status of Master’s Degree + 30 is awarded to any teacher who has completed 30 semester hours of graduate work approved in advance by the Superintendent of Schools. No equivalents are permitted. The Status of Master’s Degree + 45 is awarded to any teacher who has completed 45 semester hours of graduate work approved in advance by the Superintendent of Schools. No equivalents are permitted. The employee must obtain a final grade of a “B” or better in a graduate-level course(s) from an accredited college and/or university, which would count for graduate degree credit at such institution and which has been pre- approved by the Superintendent or his/her designee as acceptable toward the semester hours for movement from the Master’s degree lane to the Master’s Degree + 30 lane and/or the Master’s Degree + 45 lane or from the Master’s Degree + 30 lane to the Master’s Degree + 45 lane. Graduate-level courses taken on-line from an accredited college and/or university which would count for graduate degree credit at such institution and which have been pre-approved by the Superintendent or his/her designee as acceptable toward the semester hours for lane movement shall be treated the same as other graduate-level courses provided the employee has earned a grade of B or better in the course. Column Movement. A. Lower division units will be allowed for salary credit only if prior approval for such courses has been obtained from the District. B. Continuing Education Units that relate to a unit member’s assignment shall be allowed. Continuing Education Units not related to a member’s assignment may be authorized by the District. Any course work activities on District time or paid for by the District do not qualify for salary credit. C. Credit will be allowed only if a grade of “C” or better was achieved in the course. Where no letter grade is given, “pass” or “credit” are acceptable. D. As a standard formula for non-college unit coursework, ten (10) hours of work equals one (1) semester unit of salary credit. E. A record from the accrediting institution must be submitted to the Human Resources Office upon satisfactory completion of the work. If the unit member is unable to receive a grade card or transcript, a letter of verification on the institution’s letterhead from the instructor or college will be accepted until such time as the member can obtain a grade card or transcript. F. When a bargaining unit member becomes eligible for advancement to a higher column on the salary schedule, it is the unit member’s responsibility to submit all transcripts or grade cards to the Human Resources Office by the last working day of October. All unit members shall be paid for column advancement retroactive to July 1.
Column Movement. ● Column movement shall be provided to bargaining unit members provided they have met the criteria as of January 31, 2017. ● The B+12 and B+24 columns represent credits taken after the credits required to possess a teaching certificate. ● The M+15, M+30 and M+45 columns represent credits taken after the confirmation of a Masters degree.

By December 1 of the school year preceding the effective date of column movement on the salary guide, each employee shall notify in writing the Superintendent of anticipated column movement for the following school year. Proof of eligibility for column movement, including official transcripts, must be presented to the Superintendent on forms provided by the Board no later than September 30 of the school year said adjustment is to become effective. Under such circumstances any column movement shall be retroactive to September 1. 2. Certificated staff that work over the summer and are eligible for a column movement must submit all documentation by May 30th for salary adjustment to be effective July 1. 3. Salary guide credit will be given for continuing education units (CEU's) with ten CEU's equaling one graduate credit. Staff members are responsible for documentation of continuing education units (CEUs) and reporting such to the administration on an annual basis. 4. All new certificated staff employed for the 1996-97 school year and thereafter shall successfully complete six (6) graduate credits or equivalent CEU’s within 5 years. If new certificated staff is employed with a Master’s Degree, a combination of 3 graduate credits or equivalent CEU’s will be successfully completed within 5 years. Non-compliance with this requirement will cause increment to be withheld. All certificated staff having a Master’s Degree + 30 credits may voluntarily continue to earn more graduate credits.
Column Movement. Horizontal movement across the salary schedule shall be limited to one (1) column every school year. This provision shall only be applicable to teachers who have already obtained a Master’s degree.
Column Movement a. Adjustment of column placement for an earned masters or masters equivalency shall occur at any time during the school year. Upon receipt of official transcripts, payment shall be made retroactive to the date on which the degree was conferred or on the date that the equivalency was issued. b. Adjustment of placement for all other columns shall occur at the beginning of the fall semester. The employee shall provide the business office written notification of intent to advance a column no later than the first day of April preceding the contract year in which the adjustment is to occur. The employee shall also provide the business office with the pertinent course pre-approval forms by the same date. Adjustment shall be made only for courses which are completed prior to August 31st of the school year for which the movement shall take place Upon receipt of documentation, column adjustment shall be made retroactive to the first teacher work day of the fall semester. c. Column movement shall be limited to two column movements per year.

Column Movement. (a) Movement from one salary column to another due to attainment of educational requirements set forth above will be accorded no more than once annually and on the basis of requirements met prior to the first pay day in September.
