Education Credit. Evaluation of graduate credits and degrees earned (verified by official transcripts) for proper placement at the start of the school year on the salary matrix shall be completed by December 1st. Resultant salary adjustments shall be made retroactive to the beginning of the school year.

LOCAL 3728 The parties, Canadian Blood Services, New Brunswick Centre, Saint Xxxx, New Brunswick, hereinafter called the "Employer", and the C.U.P.E. Local 3728, hereinafter called the "Union", hereby agree on the following:
1. Canadian Blood Services has posted four (4) regular part-time positions with a minimum of sixty-five (65) hours worked on a bi-weekly basis, inclusive of all regular and worked premium hours, not otherwise excluded in the collective agreement.
2. Three (3) regular part-time positions have been posted with a minimum of forty- five (45) hours of work on a biweekly basis, inclusive of all regular and worked premium hours, not otherwise excluded in the collective agreement.
Education Credit. 1. For salary schedule advancement on the MA salary schedules, the only credits that may be used are those earned after the receipt of the Master's Degree for graduate level courses and courses leading to a college degree that are subject-connected or approved by the Superintendent or his/her designee, which approval shall not be unreasonably withheld. However, teachers who, as of September 1976, have received a Master's Degree and have credits earned prior to the Master's Degree but not yet credited toward salary advancement on the Master's schedules, shall be allowed to use such credits for salary advancements. Nothing contained in this provision shall result in a withdrawal of salary schedule advancement already effected, or shall require the District to grant salary credit where such credit was precluded under the previous contract.
2. For in-service credit taken prior to July 1, 1974, salary credit shall be limited to fifteen (15) salary credits and in-service credits in excess of ten (10) must be earned subsequent to July 1, 1970.
3. The courses for which in-service credit will be granted must be subject connected or approved by the Superintendent, which approval shall not unreasonably be withheld, and shall be for courses offered by Regional Curricular Centers (BOCES), the State Education Department, North Shore Schools or an accredited degree-granting college or university. The teacher shall notify the District in writing before enrolling in any in-service course other than one offered by the District. The District shall use the Nassau BOCES protocol for approval of online courses, which protocol is attached hereto as Appendix 8.
4. Credits shall be determined as follows: 15 class hours per semester = 1 credit 30 class hours per semester = 2 credits 45 class hours per semester = 3 credits
5. Each five (5) hour in-service course shall be equal to one-third (1/3) of a credit, it being understood that credit is only given for completed courses (no fractional credit). In-service courses offered by the District shall be scheduled in blocks of five (5) hours (e.g., 5, 10, 15, 20).
6. After presenting evidence of satisfactory completion of an acceptable in- service course, the teacher shall promptly be furnished with a completion certificate by the District.
7. Curriculum work performed outside of the regular hours of work during the school year and approved in advance by the Superintendent or his designee shall be granted one (1) in-service credit for ea...

Employees hired before the 2007-2008 school year will be able to move to Lane 3/MA upon completing 30 credit hours of post-Bachelor Degree classes which may be either non-graduate or graduate level courses. However, any courses taken during or after the 2007-2008 school year in order to obtain the 30 additional credit hours, must be graduate level courses. Also, employees hired before the 2007-2008 school year, with graduate hours that are not related to their Masters Degree, will retain these hours to receive additional credit for a lane change above Lane 3/MA upon completing a Masters Degree. Employees hired during or after the 2007-2008 school year, and upon completing a Masters Degree, will be moved to Lane 3/MA. Any course work completed prior to the completion of the Masters Degree, will not be applied for any additional lane changes at that time. Employees hired during or after the 2007- 2008 school year wishing to move to any lane above Lane 3/MA may only apply graduate hours earned after the completion of a Masters Degree. For the purposes of the Income Tax Act (Canada), each of the Schools (other than the corporate education division owned, operated and administered by the Company and its Subsidiaries) is a "designated educational institution", as that term is defined in subsection 118.6(1) of the Income Tax Act (Canada) and each Tuition and Education Amounts Certificate (Form T2202A) or Education Amounts Certificate (Form T2202), and any equivalent form or certificate issued under the Income Tax Act (Canada) or the legislation of any province or territory in Canada, issued by a School has been issued in respect of a "qualifying educational program", as that term is defined in subsection 118.6(1) of the Income Tax Act (Canada).
