Daily Rest. Period Every worker is entitled to a daily rest period of at least eight consecutive hours. The daily rest period is measured from the time the worker ends work on one day until the time the worker starts work on the next day. 7 Weekly Rest Period Every worker must have two days off every week. A worker may only work on their day off to perform work which must be done without delay and cannot be performed by workers during their ordinary hours of work (“emergency work”). 8
Daily Rest a) Every employee shall benefit from and must take a rest period of at least 8 consecutive hours in any 24-hour period, except when public health and safety are threatened.
Daily Rest. An employee shall have a daily rest period per 24 hours of no less than 11 hours. When the daily rest period is shortened, the employee shall be guar- anteed appropriate compensation. Weekly rest periods One daily rest period shall for every seven-day period be extended by 24 hours to a weekly rest period of 35 hours. This weekly rest period may be shortened to no less than 24 hours. When a weekly rest period is short- ened, the employee shall be guaranteed appropriate compensation. Night work The regular working hours for a night worker shall not exceed an average of eight hours for every 24-hour period on average per annum. Night work means at least three hours of regular working time scheduled between 11 pm and 6 am. Regular weekly working time shall amount to at most 35 hours on average over a 4-week period for permanent night work. Permanent night work means that an employee works only at night and not during the daytime and that the night work is carried out on average five times a week over a 4-week period. Note: Sections 6, 12, 15 and 17 of the Working Hours Act are applicable.
Daily Rest. All employees will be provided with a period of at least 11 consecutive hours free from performing work in each day in accordance with section 18 .1 of the ESA, or eight consecutive hours for Operators (ref regulation 390/05) . For the purposes of this provision, a day is a 24 hour period starting with the commencement of the first piece of work . In order to clarify the application of the act and regulation to employees who are in relief positions, the following will apply: • A minimum of 8 hours off between an Operator assignment (signed or overtime) and an assigned relief assignment; • A minimum of 11 hours off between an assigned relief assignment and an Operator assignment • A minimum of 11 hours off between consecutive relief assignments; • A minimum of 11 hours off between an Operator assignment and an overtime relief assignment Employees will not be permitted to sign work which violates the foregoing except in the following two situations:
Daily Rest. Salaried employees shall be provided with at least 11 hours’ continuous rest per 24-hour period. The rest should be scheduled at night, that is to say the period 00.00–05.00 shall be included. Temporary deviations may be made if caused by particular circumstances not foreseeable by the employer, provided that the salaried employee is compensated with corresponding leave. A deviation may be made by local agreement on the condition that the salaried employee is compensated with leave or is provided with appropriate protection. Comment: Deviations from the daily rest period require the salaried employee to be given extended rest periods that are hour for hour equal to the deviation. The extended rest period shall if possible be scheduled to connect with the same work period as the interrupted rest period. If the employer decides to schedule the corresponding rest period in working hours, no salary deduction shall be made.
Daily Rest. The employee must be given at least 11 hours of continuous daily rest. In exceptional circumstances, other arrangements may be agreed between the employer and the employee.
Daily Rest. 1. If the work is organised as regularly changing shifts longer than six hours, including work referred to in Section 7 of the Working Hours Act, the salaried employee must be granted a rest period of at least half an hour or an opportunity to eat during the working hours.
