Death Leave.
27.1 Up to three days shall be allowed an officer without deduction in pay by reason of the death of a member of the officer’s immediate family. With the approval of the Chief of Police or his/herthe Chief’s designee, an additional three days leave with no deduction in pay may be allowed for necessary funeral travel time. If the death is of the officer’s spouse or child, the Chief shall have the discretion to approve up to a total of thirty (30) days of paid death leave, including the leave described elsewhere in this article. The Chief’s decision shall be final, and shall not be subject to the grievance procedure.
27.2 As used in this Agreement, an officer’s immediate family includes, the officer’s spouse, parents, step- parents, children, step-children, brother, step-brother, sister, step-sister, grandparents, step-grandparents, grandchildren, father-in-law, mother-in-law, sister-in-law, brother-in-law, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, and grandparents-in-law. The word “spouse” shall include “domestic partners” and “in-laws” shall include a domestic partner’s father, mother, sister, brother, son, daughter, and grandparent.
27.3 Subject to the reasonable staffing needs of the City, officers in the same Reporting Unit as a member who dies shall be allowed four (4) hours of funeral leave to attend the funeral or memorial service held for the deceased member.
Death Leave. A maximum of five (5) days per school year will be allowed for death in the immediate family. Immediate family to be interpreted as husband, wife, children, mother, father, sister, brother, mother-in-law, father-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, grandparents, grandchildren, step- parents, son-in-law, and daughter-in-law. In the event of a death which is not defined above, a leave of absence may be granted, upon request, by the Superintendent at his discretion.
Death Leave. Absence due to the death of a member of the immediate family, for a period not to exceed five (5) working days.

Subd. 3 Up to three (3) days per occurrence will be allowed in the case of the death of the employee's spouse's father, mother, sister, brother, grandparent and of the employee’s grandparent.
Subd. 4 Up to one (1) day per occurrence will be allowed in the case of death of other relative or close friend. Additional leave may be requested and deducted from accrued basic leave under this Section at the discretion of the Employer, and if so authorized in writing.
Death Leave. 1. A maximum of five (5) school days of death leave will be granted for absence due to a death in the immediate family. The five (5) school days shall include the day of the funeral. However, death leave days do not carry over to school days from vacations and breaks if the leave days normally would have been used if school was in session.
2. Exceptions may be approved by the Superintendent based on individual circumstances.
3. In the case of the death of any other relative, the teacher shall be eligible for one (1) day of leave on the day of the funeral.

Definition of immediate family, husband, wife, son, daughter, mother, father, sister, brother, mother-in-law, father-in-law, step children, grandchildren, and grandparents. Additional days may be granted upon request to the Superintendent. The Superintendent may grant this leave for the death of other persons where such leave is justifiable.

In accordance with the Human Resource Administrative Rule 6.08-Funeral and Xxxxxxxxxxx Leave up to (3) three days shall be allowed a commanding officer without deduction in pay by reason of the death of a relative. A relative includes their spouse, domestic partner, parents, children, xxxxxx children, children under legal guardianship, sister, brothers, grandparents, grandchildren, father-in-law, mother-in-law, sister in-law, brother in-law, daughter in-law, son in-law, grandparents in-law, step-children, step-brother, step-sister, step-parents, step-grandchildren, step-grandparents, and the equivalent relatives of an employee with a domestic partner, or chosen family, or for pregnancy loss. With the approval of the Chief of Police or their designee, an additional three (3) days leave with no deduction in pay may be allowed for necessary funeral travel time. If the death is of the commanding officer’s spouse or child, the Chief shall have the discretion to approve up to a total of thirty (30) days of paid death leave, including the leave described elsewhere in this article. The Chief’s decision shall be final, and shall not be subject to the grievance procedure.
Death Leave. Leave of a maximum of four (4) calendar days per occurrence shall be granted in case of death in the immediate family, and this shall not be deducted from accrued leave time. Immediate family shall be defined as mother, father, stepfather, stepmother, mother-in-law, father-in-law, brothers, sisters, husband or wife, children of employee, step-children, grandparents, grandchildren, brothers-in-law, and sisters-in-law. Days off must be within consecutive working days, provided, however, that one such day shall be the day of the funeral and it is established that the employee attended the funeral. Advance notification of the leave must be provided to the superintendent. Requests for additional family members may be granted by the Superintendent.
Death Leave. When death occurs in the immediate family of an employee, such employee shall be granted two (2) days leave without loss of pay during his standard work schedule to attend the funeral. There will be no benefits paid on death leave. An employee's immediate family shall be considered as: husband, wife, son, daughter, mother, father, sister, brother ,grandmother, grandfather, father-in-law, mother-in-law, brother-in-law, or sister-in-law. There shall be no future additions or deletions from this list.
Death Leave. Absence due to death of a member of the immediate family may be charged to sick leave to the extent of one to five scheduled working days as necessary for each death.
