Dispensers. Current Dispensers will not see a major change to their current duties and responsibilities under the proposal. Importantly, Dispensers have now been mapped explicitly against level 3 of the Award which will make the payment of higher duties easier to access when performing tasks and duties that are greater than what is outlined in the classifications for their level. Further, there has been greater clarification on the supervisory responsibilities. Dispensers will only be required to provide guidance and assistance to lower-level employees when they themselves have supervision from a Leading Dispenser or Store Manager. If there is no Leading Dispenser or Store Manager on shift, one Dispenser on shift will need to be paid higher duties of a Leading Dispenser. This is a considerable win which ensures that those who are tasked with managerial responsibilities on shifts are paid at the appropriate higher rate. Leading Dispensers will now be pegged against level 6 of the Award instead of level 4, which will see a significant increase to the minimum hourly rate. This movement will see a formalisation of some management duties which are already undertaken by Leading Dispensers, including training and guidance of lower-level employees. The full proposed classification structure can be found in ‘Attachment B – Classification Descriptions’ of the proposed Agreement.
