EDUCATION AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT. F7.01 In order to maintain, enhance and improve professional standards and expertise, employees may be granted the opportunity, where operational and financial circumstances permit, to engage in professional development activities either on pay or on leave with or without pay.
EDUCATION AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT. All full time Employees shall be entitled to three (3) days paid study / examination / conference leave per calendar year for the purposes of attending courses, conferences and/or undertaking or preparing for examinations in a relevant course of study relevant to their work at the facility and which is conducted by a recognised institution. Part time Employees who work not less than four (4) shifts per fortnight shall be entitled to leave under this clause, on a pro rata basis.

EDUCATION AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT. Purpose. To establish procedures for reimbursement of unit employees for 12 the costs associated with continuing education through voluntary participation 13 in job related courses.
EDUCATION AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT. 44.1 All full time Employees shall be entitled to three (3) days paid study / examination / conference leave per annum for the purposes of attending courses, conferences and/or undertaking or preparing for examinations in a relevant course of study relevant to their work at the residence and is conducted by a recognised institution or training organisation. Part time Employees who work not less than four (4) shifts per fortnight shall be entitled to leave under this clause, on a pro rata basis. 44.2 Leave entitlements pursuant to this clause shall not accumulate from year to year. 44.3 Study Leave shall be taken at a time that is mutually agreed between the Employer and the Employee. The Employer shall not unreasonably withhold approval for such leave. 45.1 Fire Drills Any employee required to work outside the ordinary hours of work in satisfaction of the requirements for compulsory fire safety practices (e.g. fire drill and evacuation procedures) will be entitled to receive payment at the Ordinary Rate for the actual time spent in attendance at such meetings. Such time spent in attendance shall not be viewed as overtime for the purposes of this Agreement. 45.2 Work Health and Safety Committee and/or Board of Management Meetings Any employee required to attend Work Health and Safety Committee and/or Board of Management meetings in the capacity of employee representative shall, if such meetings are held outside the ordinary hours of work, be entitled to receive payment at the Ordinary Rate for the actual time spent in attendance at such meetings. Such time spent in attendance shall not be viewed as overtime for the purposes of this Agreement.

EDUCATION AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT. 42 EDUCATION AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT 42.1 All full time Employees shall be entitled to three (3) days paid study / examination / conference leave per annum for the purposes of attending courses, conferences and/or undertaking or preparing for examinations in a relevant course of study relevant to their work at the facility and is conducted by a recognised institution or training organisation. Part time Employees who work not less than four (4) shifts per fortnight shall be entitled to leave under this clause, on a pro rata basis. A ‘day’ of leave for the purposes of this clause is the shift length that the employee foregoes in order to undertake the training/CPD. 42.2 Leave entitlements pursuant to this clause shall not accumulate from year to year. 42.3 Study Leave shall be taken at a time that is mutually agreed between the Employer and the Employee. The Employer shall not unreasonably withhold approval for such leave. 42.4 Registered Nurses are entitled to a further three days of examination or assessment leave per year where they are undertaking studies relevant to their work and/or career progression. This leave may also be taken as professional development, study or conference leave. Enrolled Nurses and Personal Care Workers are also entitled to use this additional examination leave but only when they undertake assessment in a course that leads to registration as an Enrolled Nurse or Registered Nurse. The three days leave pursuant to this clause shall: (a) Not accumulate from year to year. (b) Be available to full and part time Employees who are employed to work on average for three shifts or 24 hours per week over the previous year. (c) Be subject to the Employee having been employed by the facility or network for eighteen months immediately prior to the taking of leave. (d) Be available in a block or as single days to prepare for examinations or assessment or undertake such exams or assessment. (e) Be granted for studies which are related to the classification duties in the Nurses Award, relevant to advancement through the career structure and to employment at the establishment and would normally be undertaken in a tertiary or TAFE Institute or similar institution. For the avoidance of doubt this includes an Enrolled Nurse or Personal Care Worker undertaking degree or diploma studies in nursing.
EDUCATION AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT. A. Professional Education - A regular and ongoing in-service education program shall be maintained and made available to all shifts and to all personnel. The function of in-service education shall be: 1. To promote the professional care of patients. 2. To develop staff potential. 3. To create an environment that stimulates learning, creativity and personal satisfaction. Topics to be offered will be determined by discussion between employees and nursing management. The objectives of this discussion shall be: 1. To review the philosophy, objectives, and functions of in- service education in light of needs of personnel, nursing department, and nursing care. 2. To provide ongoing education programs which will enhance patient care. 3. To review current care trends. Mandatory education/meetings, including electronic education, will be posted one (1) calendar month in advance of the scheduled event and/or completion date of the training or educational program. Examples include: ▪ A notice given on March 15 will have a completion date of April 15. ▪ A notice given on January 30 will have a completion date of March 1. If unable to provide this one-month notice, then other options will be presented for staff who were unable to attend. When educational programs are posted, the Hospital will indicate if attendance is mandatory. Employees required to attend mandatory education during off duty hours will be paid at the applicable rate of pay.
