Emergency Closing Days. Whenever a school is closed by order of the Superintendent for causes beyond the control of the board and such order is relayed to local news media less than one (1) hour prior to the time the teacher is required to be on duty, such day shall be counted as one of the duty days for any affected teacher or the Board may elect to pay such teacher(s) one-half (½) of one day's salary in lieu thereof and no service shall be required by the teacher on such day. The Association president shall be contacted to verify the official time of notification.

Emergency Closing Days. When schools are closed due to emergency conditions, twelve month employees are required to report to work and shall make every reasonable effort to report to work. Employees who are required to report to work and are absent due to emergency conditions will be paid provided the employee has followed the call-in procedure and has made every reasonable effort to report. Employees who report to work will be compensated at their regular rate of pay and then will be given compensatory time on a one-to-one ratio. Such comp-time is to be used with the approval of the employee’s supervisor.
Emergency Closing Days. Drivers and aides shall receive two (2) hours pay at the appropriate rate of pay on those days an emergency closing has caused the stoppage of school bus transportation provided such employee has reported for duty, unless the employer could not contact the employee because of a lack of an operable telephone. Employees should monitor local media stations ; call JTHS Transportation Department; and may sign up for the district text notifications concerning closings or late starts.
Emergency Closing Days. In the event an emergency closing day(s) is declared by the District, there are three (3) options for preschool teachers:
A. An employee unable to work may use PAL emergency closing day/hour via the attendance system.
B. An employee may perform their duties from a location other than their school.
C. An employee may perform their duties at their school.
Emergency Closing Days. Administrators shall not report to school when schools are not in session due to severe weather conditions or similar emergency closings unless teachers and/or staff are directed to report to work.
Emergency Closing Days. In the event the schools, or at times a school, are closed due to snow, inclement weather, or for any other emergency reason, the following personnel are expected to report for work: ● Central Office Administrators ● Principal/Assistant Principal all levels ● All two hundred sixty (260) day certified and support employees ● Administrative Secretaries ● General Secretaries - two hundred sixty (260) day plus GS who conclude work on June 30th ● Maintenance and custodial personnel In the event the District is closed, due to snow, inclement weather, or for any other emergency reason, the select Operations personnel may be required to report for work. ● Operations staff will receive double time pay for reporting to work. Emergency Closing Days. On emergency closing days, administrators shall either work from home or charge leave accruals for the day. An administrator who elects to work from home shall be required to be available by email or phone during the administrator’s normal work day. Administrators shall not be required to charge accruals or work from home if the Superintendent of Schools closes the district for all staff.
Emergency Closing Days. Beginning September 1, 2008, the District will pay unit members their regular daily wage for the first three (3) emergency closings in a school year. Emergency closings shall not include give back days, unpaid Superintendent Conference days or other District granted unpaid days off.

Members will not report to work when schools are not in session due to severe weather conditions or similar emergency closings, unless teachers and/or staff are directed to report to work. When school is delayed opening for any reason (e.g. 1 hour, 2 hours, etc.), members do not have to report to work at their normal time, unless teachers and/or staff are directed to report at their normal time. Unless the superintendent of the District directs all District employees not to report for work, any employee who fails to report will be charged with a Personal Business Leave Day for failing to physically report for work on said "day." In the event that said employee has no Personal Business Days remaining, s/he will not be paid for said "day." If an employee is ill on an emergency closing day s/he should follow standard practice for any work day in order to utilize sick leave. On days when school(s) is/are dismissed early because of severe weather conditions or similar emergency conditions, the superintendent of schools or his/her authorized designee shall determine when said building office personnel may be permitted to leave early. When the Superintendent or his/her authorized designee permits or directs Employees to leave early, the Employees who report to work, shall suffer no loss of pay, sick leave, or personal leave for this early departure.
