HOURS OF WORK & WORKING CONDITIONS. WAGE RATES
9.01 Attached hereto and forming part of this Agreement are the following schedules:
HOURS OF WORK & WORKING CONDITIONS. 14.01 Eight (8) hours shall constitute a working day, and forty (40) hours a working week from Monday to Friday inclusive, scheduled between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. All time worked in excess of this shall constitute overtime and shall be paid as provided for in 14.04 and 14.05 herein.
14.02 Where it is necessary to work two (2) or more shifts of work within twenty-four (24) hours, work performed between the hours of 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. shall be paid for at the rate of straight time plus fifteen percent (15%). The fifteen percent (15%) premium will only be paid on hours worked, i.e. no pyramiding. Any employee working beyond their shift of eight (8) hours shall receive double (2x) time. A mutually agreed meeting between the Association(s) and the Business Manager or International Union Representative shall be held to discuss such shift work.
14.03 No employee will be permitted to work more than one (1) shift in twenty-four (24) hours unless overtime rates are paid.
14.04 Overtime rates, exclusive of the above, shall be paid for at the rate of time and one-half (1-½x) for the first four (4) hours beyond an eight (8) hour shift, and double time (2x) thereafter.
14.05 Workers shall not be required to report to contractor's shop or yard for the purpose of loading or driving loaded equipment for work prior to thirty (30) minutes before regular starting time. Should their services be required before this time, the mechanic will be paid for the time they report to shop or yard in accordance with 14.01.
14.06 No work shall be performed on New Year's Day, Heritage Day, Good Friday, Victoria Day, Canada Day, Civic Holiday, Remembrance Day, Labour Day, Thanksgiving Day or Christmas Day. However, if any emergency should arise and work must be done on any of these days, prior notice shall be given to the Union and double time (2x) shall be paid. The Union will be notified of the names and number of mechanics required and if there are any changes, the Union will be notified as soon as possible.
14.07 For all work covered by this collective agreement it is agreed that the employer and the union may agree on different rates, provisions and hours than those contained herein so as to increase the competitive position of unionized employers except that the employer shall make all Health & Welfare and Pension Fund contributions set forth in Article 7 – Employer Contributions on behalf of employees.

14:02 Normal hours of work are as follows: One Shift - Monday to Friday 6:30a.m.--3:00 Two Shifts - Days 6:30a.m. - 3:00 p.m. -Afternoons 3:00p.m. – 11:30 p.m. Four Shifts - Timken shift schedule. Appendix “A” 14:03 Any shift work over one (1) shift per day will rotate according to a two (2) week basis. Shift rotation while on the Timken schedule will be on a one (1) week basis. See Appendix “A”
(a) The day on which a shift starts shall be deemed to be the regular working day for that shift. It is agreed that the Monday shift may start at 11:00 p.m. Sunday and shall be paid at straight-time rate for all hours worked on a three (3) shift operation.
(b) If the Company requires an Employee to switch from afternoons to days midweek, the Employee may leave at 9 p.m. and be paid for the remainder of the shift. This does not apply when one of the shifts is an overtime shift or when the change is at the Employee’s request.
HOURS OF WORK & WORKING CONDITIONS. (a) The hours of work shall be thirty‐five (35) hours per week with the work schedule to be determined by the Fire Chief or designate.
(b) All other working conditions including Statutory Holidays and overtime requirements shall remain, unless otherwise agreed to between the parties.

HOURS OF WORK & WORKING CONDITIONS. Section 4-1: Hours of Work
A. This Article is intended to define the normal hours of work and to provide the basis for calculation and payment of overtime pursuant to Article 3, Section 3-2.
B. The work week shall only consist of a schedule of consecutive work days in a seven (7) calendar day pre-established work period, except in the Equipment Management Division of Public Works Department. Any changes to the consecutive workday schedule will be made by mutual agreement between AFSCME 2384 and the City on the 4 day, 10 hour work shift.
C. Within a five (5) day work schedule, the work day will consist of eight (8) hours of work within any twenty-four (24) hours in a pre-established work schedule, excluding relief positions. Within a four (4) day work schedule, the work day will consist of ten (10) hours of work within any twenty-four (24) hours in a pre- established work schedule, excluding relief positions. The City and the Union recognize that no regularly scheduled shift lengths, other than those outlined in Article 4, shall be observed in Field Unit II.
HOURS OF WORK & WORKING CONDITIONS. 9.1 a. Five days shall constitute a week’s work, Monday through Friday or four ten (10) hour days, Monday–Thursday or Tuesday–Friday. If circumstances warrant, with the consent of the Employer and the employee, Saturday may be used as a make-up day at the straight time rate to insure a forty (40) hour work week.
HOURS OF WORK & WORKING CONDITIONS. The hours of work shall be scheduled by the Employer at each location not later than Thursday 5:00 p.m. two (2) weeks prior to the work week. Such schedules may be changed by mutual agreement. However, changes may be made by the Employer to cover emergency situations.
