LEADHANDS. The Company may designate employees as needed as Leadhands, with the acceptance of the employee, when the Supervisor is absent from the department or unable to attend to his regular duties in the department. A Leadhand acts as a leader of a group or groups of employees carrying out similar or related work. The Leadhand assigns work to employees, works along with and coordinates work among them. He is responsible for the safe and correct completion of work but not for disciplinary action or other personnel matters, which are the responsibility of the Supervisor to whom the Leadhand reports. A designated Leadhand position shall not be subject to the job posting procedure. Employees designated as Leadhands shall, while so designated, be paid as per Appendix “A” of this Collective Agreement.
LEADHANDS.
19.01 Leadhands will assign work as directed by a salaried employee and co-ordinate this work among the crew members. This is a job in which the employee under the direction of a salaried staff member has the combined responsibility of directing the work of a group of employees on other hourly rated production and maintenance jobs and performing some of the same work as that of the group directed unless such work includes operating pit production equipment. The direction generally consists of activities such as required to:
i) Plan work to be performed by the group;
ii) Determine "on-the-job" working procedure in the case of repair and maintenance work;
iii) Arrange for necessary tools, supplies and facilities;
iv) Assign and instruct members of the group; and
v) Inspect, co-ordinate and record the work performed by the group. In recognition of the fact that Leadhands are required to work additional time prior to and after shift start for turnover meetings etc. Leadhands will be paid a premium of three dollars ($3.00) per hour over the highest classification directed for all hours worked, during the period that the employee is acting as a Leadhand. This premium will not apply to any hours spent for pre-shift or post shift activities.
(a) The assignment of a Leadhand to a crew will not impact the number of employees eligible to be off on such crew for any approved leave provided for in the Collective Agreement.
(b) The selection of Leadhands for the purposes of assignments to various crews will be limited to properly trained and qualified employee(s) which have been designated by the Company as Leadhands prior to the assignment.
19.03 Vacancies for Leadhand positions will not be posted. Those wishing consideration may apply to the Employee Relations Department at any time, on the appropriate form.
LEADHANDS. 29.01 The University and the Union agree that it is necessary to utilize leadhands for efficient coordination of workload, and where such leadhand positions are required, the University’s posting procedures shall apply.
29.02 The rate of pay for employees classified as leadhands shall be in accordance with Schedule A - Wage Rates. This leadhand rate shall be added to the job rate for their normal classification.
29.03 The University agrees to provide mandatory training through an accredited program or programs, to leadhands to assist in their efficient functioning in the position. The University may temporarily appoint an interested employee, who meets the qualifications and skills required in the leadhand job description, to a leadhand position during vacations and lengthy illnesses as a means of providing experience, as well as an opportunity for the employee to demonstrate their abilities.
LEADHANDS. In the matter of promotions of leadhands, where two or more applicants have equal standing with respect to exten- sive job knowledge and experience, then job classification seniority shall prevail. Before appointment of a Leadhand, the Supervisor and/or Plant Superintendent will discuss the matter with the Committeeperson for the Zone (District).
LEADHANDS. (a) An employee assigned as a Leadhand will receive additional compensation of seven percent (7%) above the highest job classification of the group he/she leads.
(b) An employee assigned as a Team Leader in the maintenance department will receive additional compensation of 12 percent above the highest job classification of the group he/she leads (excluding the leadhand).
16.02 Leadhands shall report directly to their respective Department Supervisor and in his/her absence to the Plant Production Managers. Leadhands shall be required to have knowledge within the Department of production and product requirements, quality control, machinery operation, health and safety requirements and the general plant Rules and Regulations to enable them to assist the Department Supervisor in the efficient operation of the Department. Leadhands shall have the leadership ability to keep the Department working smoothly and efficiently in the Supervisors' absence. Leadhands shall have the authority to decide and direct necessary work assignments within the Department as is required. Leadhands shall undertake any additional work as is required from time to time by the Company. It is understood that Leadhands will not hire, fire, or undertake disciplinary action.
LEADHANDS. 19.01 Leadhands may be selected by the Company from time to time at the Company's sole discretion.
19.02 A Leadhand primarily acts as a leader of a group or groups of employees working on similar or related work under the direction of a shift xxxxxxx or person above the rank of shift xxxxxxx. Leadhands may also replace a shift xxxxxxx when absent.
19.03 Leadhands will assign work as directed by the shift xxxxxxx or person above the rank of shift xxxxxxx and works along with and/or co-ordinates this work among the employees.
19.04 The leadhand is responsible for the correct completion of work, but not for disciplinary action or other personnel matters.
LEADHANDS. If interest between the parties is expressed to utilize leadhands during the term of the Collective Agreement, the Company and Union shall formally meet to develop appropriate terms and conditions mutually agreeable to both the Company and the Union.
LEADHANDS. Leadhands shall be paid a premium of one dollar ($1.00) per hour.
LEADHANDS. The Company may appoint employees as leadhands in their own departments. These employees may direct the activities, assist or act as leader for two or more employees. Employees classified as leadhands do not have the right to hire, fire, or discipline other employees, and shall not be classified as leadhands for a period of less then seven (7) days. ** LETTER OF UNDERSTANDING JOB ROTATION November 4, 1999 Xx. Xxxxx Xxxxxxxxx Bargaining Chairperson CAW -- CANADA 000 Xxxxx Xxxxxx Xxxxxx, Xxxxxxx X0X 0X0 Dear Xxxxx: During the negotiations the Company and Union discussed and agreed on the practice of job rotation at the St. Marys Plant. The Company has committed to the on going practice of job rotation to maintain flexibility, to reduce the repetitive nature of some jobs and to broaden the job content of assignments. Job rotation will be continued within each department of the Plant in a manner that will ensure maximum safety, quality, productivity and job enrichment. The rotation sequence and timing may vary by and within departments to accommodate mutually acceptable requests of employees and management. Job rotation will occur in every area unless an unusual circumstance prevents the rotation. If there is a requirement to limit the rotation, the circumstances will be discussed with the Committee. Specific assignments as shown in Section 8.01 of this agreement will not normally rotate however alternates will be trained for every one of these assignments. LEADHANDS. The only leadhands within the division will be in Maintenance and Clean Up as agreed by the Union and Local Management.
