Leave for Union and Public Duties. (a) Union Office A limit of one (1) employee elected or selected for a full-time position with the Union, or any body with which the Union is affiliated, or who is elected to public office, shall be granted leave of absence without loss of seniority and without pay by the City, for a period of up to one (1) year. Such leave may be renewed each year on request during his/her term of office. A request must be in writing to the City Manager or designate, and when possible, reasonable notice shall be given.

Leave for Union and Public Duties. (a) An employee who is appointed or elected to a full-time position with the Union or is elected to a full-time position with the Canadian Labour Congress, or a Provincial Federation of Labour, shall be granted leave of absence without pay and without loss of seniority for a period of two (2) years, subject to renewal on application to the Employer for further successive periods of two (2) years each.

(d) Employees involved in community service may be granted leave of absence without pay up to a maximum of three (3) days in any one (1) school year.
