Non-Standard Work Day. An employee working a non-standard work day (of less than seven (7) hours) or work week (of less than thirty-five (35) hours) shall be paid at the straight time rate for all hours in excess of her approved work day or work week which do not qualify for overtime payment.

Non-Standard Work Day. Where the nature of a Department, Division of a Department or occupation requires daily hours of work other than the standard work day set out in paragraph 13.01, the normal work day, unless otherwise expressly stated for certain positions set forth in the Schedules for Regular, Probationary, and Part‐Time Employees in such operations, shall be any seven (7) or eight (8) consecutive hours of work exclusive of a one‐half (½) or one (1) hour lunch period. This provision shall apply to those positions set out in the Schedules and any additions agreed to subsequently by mutual consent of the Employer and the Union.

The hours of work shall be consecutive, exclusive of lunch. It being expressly provided that such variation must be effective for a minimum period of one (1) week. (iii) Employees classified as Watchman - Works Yard shall work non-standard daily and weekly hours, Monday to Sunday inclusive, without overtime rates being applicable in accordance with an agreement dated January 21, 1993. (iv) Employees who are required to perform or supervise duties related to chemical spraying may have their daily hours of work varied between 6:00 a.m. and 10:00

Non-Standard Work Day. Work Week (1) by mutual agreement between the employee and their supervisor; (2) with seven (7) calendar daysnotice to the employee but only in the case of working outside of the standard work day range, (i.e., moving the seven (7) working hours outside of between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. day to a maximum of five (5) occurrences per month not to exceed twenty-six (26) occurrences per year. Effective 2018 April 17: Extended hours may be implemented for any employee for the purpose of staffing City-planned community events by mutual agreement between the employee and the employee’s supervisor and with seven (7) calendar days notification to the union prior to the event. Should the appropriate notice not be provided then the overtime provisions of Article 9 Section 3 shall apply. It is understood that this provision shall not be used to effect a permanent change to an employee’s shift.

The normal work week for part-time employees in such shall be Monday to Sunday inclusive. The will notify the Union at least seven days in advance of any additional positions or position classes to be included the provisions of a day or week other than those positions agreed to as set out in Schedule and shall advise the Union of the pay rates and working hours for such positions. Pay rates shall be subject to collective bargaining.
Non-Standard Work Day. The following three subsections apply to work that cannot be performed during a standard workday. Unless modified below, all work rules and other provisions of this collective bargaining agreement shall apply when such work is being performed. (a) Where in any locality existing traffic conditions, job conditions, or weather conditions render it desirable to start the day shift at an earlier or later hour, such starting may with the mutual consent of the individual Employer and the Union be earlier or later without requiring payment of overtime rates by reason of the changed starting time. In that event, the starting time agreed to must continue for the duration of the job or until changed by mutual consent. (b) For emergency work in the public interest, i.e., snow removal, natural disaster, etc.; starting time will begin when employee starts to work with all work over eight (8) hours to be at the overtime rate. The overtime rate shall be paid for all hours worked between midnight Friday and midnight Sunday or from midnight to midnight on Holidays with a guarantee of two (2) hours show up, four (4) hours if employee begins work, and eight (8) hours if employee works more than four (4) hours.
