OCCASIONAL TEACHER ROSTER. (a) To be eligible for inclusion on the Occasional Teacher Roster, an Occasional Teacher must have an Ontario Teaching Certificate and remain a member in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers and the Union. (b) The Board shall distribute information packages to all Occasional Teachers newly added to the Roster. One package will be supplied by the Union. The other package will be the Board’s current New Teacher Orientation package with suitable modifications for Occasional Teachers. (c) The Board shall provide each Occasional Teacher on the Roster with the current school directory and a pay schedule by September 30th for the upcoming year or immediately upon being newly accepted on the Roster. (d) Within five (5) days of their request, each Occasional Teacher shall be provided with confirmation of their SmartFind profile as entered in the system. (e) Occasional Teachers who are included on the Roster shall make themselves available for assignment or shall provide reasonable grounds for refusing such assignment. (a) The maximum number of Occasional Teachers in Level 1 shall be 51% of the number of FTE Elementary Teachers employed by the Board as of September 1st of each school year. (b) For the purpose of determining the maximum numbers permitted under Clause L10.2(a), those in Long-Term Occasional assignments or permanent contract assignments that are 50% FTE or more and six (6) months or longer in duration or those on a full year leave or those that are determined to be unavailable shall not be included in the count. Furthermore, a retired teacher shall be included in the count as 0.5. (c) The implementation of Clause L10.2 (a) shall not result in the removal of the name of any person on the Occasional Teacher Roster. This protection includes anyone on a leave under Article L12.00. (d) The Board may request of the Union that the number of names on the Roster be increased to maintain a sufficient pool of names for casual assignments. Pursuant to such a request, the number of names on the Roster may be increased, but only with the written consent of the Union, and only to the extent that the Union permits. (e) The Union has the right to stipulate that, as of a date of its choosing, no names may be added until the number of names on the Roster falls below the maximum number specified in L10.2 (a). OCCASIONAL TEACHER ROSTER. 49.3.1 The Federation shall be notified when the Board advertizes for external additions to the Occasional Teacher Roster. 49.3.2 Any external candidate who wishes to become an Occasional Teacher may apply by submitting to the Board a resume, Certificate of Qualification and Registration from the Ontario College of Teachers, Criminal Background Check, including Vulnerable Sector Check, and any other documentation required in accordance with the Board policy. 49.3.3 A current or retiring teacher may request to be added to the Occasional Teacher List. Requests shall be submitted in writing for consideration to Human Resources no later than 15 July for Semester I and 15 January for Semester II. 49.3.4 The Board shall provide to the Federation a complete Occasional Teachers’ Roster by the end of the second week of classes. Updates including additions or deletions to the Roster will be provided by Human Resources as they occur. 49.3.5 All Occasional Teachers shall be entered into SmartFind Express which will include demographic data, qualifications, and preferred locations. This information shall be provided to the Federation by the end of the second week of classes. 49.3.6 An emergency Occasional Teachers’ List will be maintained at each school. 49.3.7 Notwithstanding Article 49.3.4, qualified Teachers may apply at any time to become Occasional Teachers with this Board but they shall not be used by the schools until such time as the Bargaining Unit receives confirmation of the Teacher’s inclusion on the list. 49.3.8 No Occasional Teacher shall be removed from the OT Roster unless they request to be removed from the OT Roster or unless they are removed by the Board for just cause. 49.3.9 The Board agrees that when an Occasional Teacher is employed only a qualified Occasional Teacher shall replace a regular Teacher who is absent; unless no qualified Occasional Teacher is available. A reasonable effort will be made to contact qualified (with respect to subject qualifications) Occasional Teachers. 49.3.10 Occasional Teachers shall notify Human Resources Services of the Board and the Federation, in writing, of any change of qualifications, address and/or telephone number required by the Board to contact the Occasional Teacher regarding teaching assignments.
OCCASIONAL TEACHER ROSTER as outlined in Article L11, means a list of all occasional teachers who have been accepted by the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board to teach as occasional teachers in the secondary panel of the Board.

OCCASIONAL TEACHER ROSTER a) The Occasional Teacher Roster is maintained by the Board, and is a list of all qualified Teachers who have been hired by the Board to teach as Occasional Teachers in the Secondary Panel. OCCASIONAL TEACHER ROSTER. 9.01 The Occasional Teacher Roster shall be broken down by elementary school and shall provide the following information for each Occasional Teacher: i) name, ii) address, iii) telephone number, iv) subjects/ divisions that the Occasional Teacher is qualified to teach, v) preferred grade levels, and vi) availability. 9.02 The Board agrees to amend from time to time the composition of the Occasional Teacher Roster so that it reflects those actively seeking occasional teaching assignments. 9.03 The Board shall publish and provide the current Occasional Teacher Roster including names, addresses, and schools requested to the Union Local President by the 30th of each month, upon request. 9.04 Occasional Teachers shall notify the Human Resources Department of the Board as soon as practicable, in writing, of any changes of address and/or telephone number required by the Board to contact the Occasional Teacher regarding teaching assignments.
