Payment for Holidays Worked. All work performed on a holiday shall be compensated as provided below. Such holiday pay shall be calculated at the employee’s straight time hourly rate in effect when the holiday was worked. The employee’s customary income tax withholding rate shall not be changed by reason of payments for holidays or payment of final compensation owing on termination of employment.

Payment for Holidays Worked. Employees shall receive 6.73% additional compensation per pay period, calculated on their base pay only, in lieu of being allowed to take paid time off or accrue paid time off for a City holiday. Except as provided in this provision, an employee who works on a designated City holiday as part of the employee’s regular schedule will not receive any additional compensation based solely on the day’s designation as a City recognized holiday. Employees working overtime on a designated City holiday shall be paid at their normal overtime rate and will not receive any additional compensation based solely on the day’s designation as a City recognized holiday. Employees who wish to take any day off will be required to use accrued vacation and/or compensatory time.
