If an employee provides the Board of Education with a minimum of 100 days notice of a retirement effective July 1, at the end of a school year, the employee shall be eligible for an additional $10 per day for each accumulated sick leave day up to a maximum of 200 days [$6,000 pay-out maximum]. 6. Payment for unused sick leave shall be made in two equal installments: the first on the first regular pay day within thirty (30) days of actual retirement; and the second on the first regular pay day one (1) year from the date of the first payment. 7. If an employee presents an unconditional letter of retirement and, subsequent to Board approval of that letter, the employee passes away, payment for unused sick leave shall be made to the employee’s estate pursuant to the aforementioned payment plan.

Upon retirement from the school district, with a minimum of ten (10) years with the district, certified employees shall be compensated for accumulated sick leave up to 50 days at the following rate: • $70 per day for employees with 10-19 years in the district • $80 per day for employees with 20-29 years in the district • $90 per day for employees with 30+ years in the district. 2. This benefit is eligible to be paid as a one-time payment following submission of OTRS paperwork and letter of resignation. 3. The payment is not applicable to days used for the purpose of an additional year of experience and will be made prior to June 30 of the year of retirement. 4. This benefit is contingent upon availability of funds and will be subject to annual renewal by the Board of Education.
Payment for Unused Sick Leave at Retirement. 29.1 All full-time support staff in this bargaining unit who resign during the life of this contract for retirement purposes to receive immediate pension payments, will receive $30.00 (thirty dollars) per day for each unused sick day, up to a maximum of one hundred (100) days or $3,000.00 (three thousand dollars). 29.2 All full-time support staff in this bargaining unit will have the option at the end of each school year, during the life of this contract, to sell back his/her sick days at a cost of $25.00 (twenty-five dollars) per sick day. Previous school year sick days cannot be sold at this cost. Once the year is completed, the days can be carried forth or used, as described in Article XIX-19.5.

The cap on any amount payable under this article, for the remainder of this contract, shall be the following: A. Application and approval of the courses to be taken must be obtained from the Superintendent of Schools prior to starting the course. B. Courses will not be approved unless they are a part of a planned program leading to a definite educational objective related to the assigned position of the applicant, or the courses must be directly related to the individual’s professional needs as determined by his assigned position. C. All courses eligible for tuition reimbursement must be successfully completed with a grade of “B” or better. All grades must be submitted to the Superintendent by September of the new school year so that reimbursement may be made in a timely fashion. It is understood that no tuition shall be reimbursed by the Board if the applicant is being reimbursed by any other source or agency. Tuition reimbursement will not be higher than the lowest New Jersey State College rate. D. Course programs approved by the Superintendent from July 1, through June 30, will be eligible for reimbursement in September provided the teacher has not resigned their employment in the district. The appropriate state and federal taxes will be withheld as per state and federal regulations. Teachers completing all program requirements will advance in September to the appropriate advanced degree column of the guide upon receipt of the appropriate documentation. E. Beginning on July 1, tuition reimbursement money will be capped at $24,141 for the length of this contract. To assure the equitable distribution of funding, this money shall be divided into equal amounts per credit hour for those teachers who successfully fulfill the requirements (grade of “B” or better).
