Personal Education Leave i) Written requests for personal leaves of absence without pay for educational or personal reasons will be considered on an individual basis by the employee’s Supervisor. Such requests are to be submitted as far in advance as possible with a minimum notice of four (4) weeks, except in cases of emergency, or if the Employer determines that service needs and staffing requirements can accommodate a leave on shorter notice. Approval of the leave is at the Employer's sole discretion and shall be approved subject to the efficient operation of the department/organization and provided that the reasons given are acceptable to the Employer. A written reply will be given within 14 calendar days. Such leave shall not be unreasonably withheld. A leave of absence will not be granted until the equivalent of one year’s seniority has been completed, except in unusual circumstances. A full-time employee, having been granted a personal/education leave of absence, shall continue to be covered for employee benefits and shall continue to accrue vacation provided that the leave of absence is for a period of less than 30 calendar days in duration. ii) For leaves of absence extending beyond thirty (30) calendar days in duration, the employee may continue, upon written request, to be covered for Extended Health and Dental Benefits, subject to any limitations set our by the Insurance Plan(s), provided that the employee pays 100 % of the insurance premiums in advance of the month that they are due.

Personal Education Leave. A leave of absence, without pay, to take further education related to the employee’s work with the Home may be granted upon written application by the employee to their immediate Supervisor. It is further understood and agreed that the Home will, wherever its operational requirements permits, endeavour to arrange the shifts of employees attending courses.
Personal Education Leave. Subject to operational requirements, the Employer will consider requests for an Employee to take an educational leave without pay and without loss of seniority of up to twenty-four (24) months for training or education related to the employee’s employment at the Employer, but not required by the Employer.
Personal Education Leave. An employee may apply for a personal education leave if the employee enrolls in an accredited college or university as a full-time student (12 credit hours or more). The number and duration of education leaves are based upon hospital seniority as follows: A person eligible for more than one leave, based upon hospital seniority, must return to work for a period of 12 months before being eligible to begin another educational leave. However, the Employer may waive the 12-month return to work requirement for employees whose academic program qualifies them for a position that will directly benefit the Employer. A personal education leave of absence will not exceed 9 months from the last active date of work.

  • Paid Education Leave The Company agrees to pay into a special fund effective January 1st, 2013 and each year thereafter, two thousand ($2,000.00) for the purpose of providing Paid Education Leave. Said Paid Education Leave will be for the purpose of upgrading the Dependent Contractor’s skills in all aspects of trade union functions. Such monies will be paid into a trust fund established by the National Union, Unifor and sent by the Company to the following address: Unifor Education Leave Program c/o Unifor 000 Xxxxxx Xxxxx Xxxxxxx, XX X0X 0X0 The Company further agrees that members of the bargaining unit selected by the Union to attend such courses will be granted a Leave of Absence without pay for twenty (20) days class time, plus travel time where necessary, with said Leave of Absence to be intermittent over a twelve (12) month period from the first day of leave. Dependent Contractors on such leave will continue to accrue seniority and benefits during such leave.

  • Education Leave If required by the Hospital, an employee shall be entitled to leave of absence with pay and without loss of seniority and benefits to write examinations to upgrade his or her employment qualifications. Where employees are required by the Hospital to take courses to upgrade or acquire new employment qualifications, the Hospital shall pay the full costs associated with the courses. Subject to operational requirements, the Hospital will make every reasonable effort to grant requests for necessary changes to an employee's schedule to enable attendance at a recognized up-grading course or seminar related to employment with the Hospital."

  • Employment Relations Education Leave Employment Relations Education Leave will be allowed in accordance with the Employment Relations Act.

  • Personal/Carer’s Leave 18.1 Entitlement to paid personal/carer’s leave a) Paid personal leave will be available to an Employee (other than casual Employees) when they are absent due to: (i) personal illness or injury (sick leave); or (ii) for the purposes of caring for an immediate family or household member who is sick and requires the Employee's care and support (carer's leave). b) The amount of personal leave to which an Employee is entitled is as follows: (i) Upon commencement of employment Employees will automatically be credited with 5 days Personal and/or Xxxxx’s leave. After 6 months of employment, the leave will begin to accrue progressively up until it reaches 10 days at the conclusion of 12 months employment. (ii) Once the Employee has completed one year of continuous employment, the Employee shall be credited with a further ten days personal leave entitlement at the beginning of the Employee's second and subsequent year, which subject to clause 18.1(f) hereof, shall commence on the anniversary of engagement. c) In any year unused personal leave accrues. d) An Employee will inform the Company of the Employee's inability to attend for duty, and need to take personal leave, as soon as practicable. e) An Employee shall prove to the Company's satisfaction that the Employee’s Personal/Xxxxx’s leave is/was justified. Such evidence may be a medical practitioner’s certificate, or a statutory declaration. An Employee will not be required to provide such evidence for single days of absence but only where two or more consecutive days of absence are taken. f) If an Employee’s employment is terminated by the Company and is re-engaged within a period of six months, then the Employee's unclaimed balance of sick leave shall continue from the date of re-engagement. In such case the Employee's next year of service will commence after a total of twelve months has been served with that Company excluding the period of interruption in service from the date of commencement of the previous period of employment or the anniversary of the commencement of the previous period of employment, as the case may be. g) Unpaid carer’s leave will be in accordance with the NES. 18.2 Immediate family or household a) The entitlement to use personal leave for the purpose of carer's or compassionate leave is subject to the person being either: (i) a member of the Employee's immediate family; or (ii) a member of the Employees' household. b) The term immediate family includes: (i) a spouse, de facto partner, child, parent, grandparent, grandchild or sibling of the Employee; or (ii) a child, parent, grandparent, grandchild or sibling of a spouse or de facto partner of the Employee.

  • Special Education Teachers Elementary/Secondary Special Education Coordinators shall be compensated for an extended work day in the amount of four thousand dollars ($4,000).

  • Personal Leave With Pay Full-time employees who are eligible to accrue sick leave may use up to a maximum of six days personal leave with pay per year provided that such days shall be charged against the employee's currently accrued sick leave. This leave is non-cumulative.

  • Educational Leave Leave without pay may be granted for educational leave for the duration of actual attendance in an educational program.

  • Personal Leaves 8.11.4.1 As approved by the Board, personal leaves without pay may be granted in cases of exceptional need for up to six (6) months. Any such leave exceeding one (1) semester shall not be counted toward tenure or promotion or for computing salary increments. These leaves may be extended by the PVPAA upon recommendation of the xxxx for up to one (1) year.
