Educational Leave Without Pay. 25.1.1 A full-time covered employee who has completed two (2) years of continuous employment and has satisfactory job performance in his/her current position is eligible to apply for an educational leave without pay. Such application shall be made in accordance with CCSNH policies and procedures. Approval of educational leave without pay shall not be unreasonably denied. 25.1.2 An educational leave without pay shall not be granted for more than 12 consecutive months and shall be granted only at a time when it will not disrupt the operations or teaching programs of the Community College System or its colleges. 25.1.3 During an approved educational leave without pay no annual leave, sick leave, or personal days shall be accumulated and the employee’s increment, and seniority dates shall be adjusted based on the total number of calendar days without pay. The continuation of health, dental, retirement, and other voluntary benefits shall be processed in accordance with federal laws, the provisions of this Agreement, and human resources policies and procedures.

Educational Leave Without Pay. Educational leave without pay may be granted on request of the employee and with approval of the appointing authority and Commissioner of Human Resources. (a) Annual leave for full time leave may be cashed in at the employee’s option or retained for use on return from leave. (b) An employee who does not return to work within thirty (30) days of completion of the authorized course of studies may be terminated from State service.
Educational Leave Without Pay. An employee granted educational leave without pay shall be required to sign a statement to the effect that on completion of the training, he/she will remain in the service of Northern Lights College for a period equivalent to the leave granted or refund any financial assistance granted under this section on a pro rata basis.
Educational Leave Without Pay. After completing twelve (12) months of employment, an employee, upon request, may be granted leave of absence without pay for educational purposes at an accredited school when it is related to his/her employment. The period of such leave shall not exceed one year, but it may be renewed or extended with approval of the appointing authority at the request of the employee when necessary.
Educational Leave Without Pay. An appointing authority may grant a leave without pay to regular Employees for any of the following reasons: 1. To pursue a course of instruction which is related to the Employee's field of work; 2. To engage in research which has a beneficial effect on the skills or knowledge required in the Employee's field of work; or, 3. To improve the Employee's ability and increase the Employee's fitness for public employment. The duration of the educational leave without pay shall be for no more than twelve (12) months. For good cause, as determined by the appointing authority, educational leave without pay may be extended an additional twelve (12) months. The Employee shall have return rights as provided in paragraph I.
Educational Leave Without Pay. 1. After three (3) or more years of employment with the School District, on application, a teacher shall be eligible for educational leave. 2. Leave will normally be granted for up to one (1) year at a time. If the program of studies being undertaken is of a longer duration than one (1) year, the leave will be granted for up to two (2) years to complete the program of studies. 3. Written application must be made prior to March 15. 4. Vacancies created by leaves will be posted as temporary. On return from leave the Board will make every reasonable effort to reinstate a teacher to a position comparable to that held prior to the leave.

Leave of absence without pay may be granted for the purpose of further educational studies or other professional development on the following basis: a. such leave shall be not less than four (4) months or more than two (2) years in length; b. three (3) years prior satisfactory service within the District shall be required; c. requests for leave must be received at least three (3) teaching months prior to the expected commencement of leave. 2. Documentary support of the applicant's intentions must be provided to the Superintendent of Schools upon application for leave under this section. 3. Notification of the teacher's intention to return shall be required at least three (3) months prior to the expected return. 4. Upon return to the District, the employee may be assigned to any position within the District, and is expected to remain a District employee for a period of at least two (2) years. 5. The number of teachers allowed leave under this Article, at any one time, will be determined by the Board.

The Director or his designee, may authorize educational leave without pay to allow the employee to complete formal undergraduate or advanced degree requirements, if: 1. Such education will be of benefit to the Municipality; 2. The employee has been employed by the Municipality for at least two (2) years; 3. The employee has exhausted all but forty (40) hours of his or her annual leave and converted the maximum permissible amount of sick leave to annual leave; 4. The agency head has certified that employee's absence is unlikely to have a serious effect upon the agency's performance; and 5. No educational assistance shall be provided to an employee on educational leave without pay, B. A maximum of one (I) year may be granted for educational leave without pay.
Educational Leave Without Pay a. A teacher may be granted educational leave without pay for one school year. A teacher granted such leave shall undertake to return and stay in the service of the Board for a period of not less than one school year. b. Should a teacher fail to fulfill this undertaking the teacher shall refund the cost of any benefits paid by the Board while the teacher was on leave. c. A teacher wishing to take educational leave without pay during the next school year must apply in writing to the Superintendent not later than April 30 of the current school year so the Board may notify the teacher of its decision by May 20 of the same year.
