Education Leaves. Employees may request education leave as provided in board policy and regulations for management employees. Upon the recommendation of the Superintendent, the Governing Board may grant bargaining unit employees a leave of absence without pay for the purpose of educational improvement. Such leave shall last not less than one semester or more than one year. An extension of the leave may be granted where completion of the course for advancement requires longer than one year and where the advantage will accrue to the District.
Education Leaves. (i) At the Employer’s discretion, the Employer may grant a leave of absence for an educational leave which may be fully subsidized, partially subsidized, or granted with no financial assistance.
Education Leaves. Education leaves of up to one (1) year, which are directly related to the practice of nursing, may be granted, provided the nurse making the application has completed one year of continuous employment with the Hospital. Nurses may request such leaves in increments of less than one (1) year.
Education Leaves. A. Employees who desire to further their education may request to move from full- time to part-time, or full- time leave status. Half-time leave status is defined as one half of the hourly amount required to designate the employee as full-time. Upon approval the employee may work half time. The employee will request the leave in writing.
Education Leaves. Leaves of absence without pay not exceeding one (1) year may be granted teachers who wish to further their education on a full-time basis provided such academic work entails a minimum of at least eight (8) semester hours per semester or twelve (12) quarter hours per quarter. No teacher shall be eligible for more than one (1) such leave every seven (7) years of consecutive service with the Memphis City Schools.
Education Leaves. The Company will provide up to five (5) days of paid educational leaves in each year for members of the Committee to attend approved courses.
Education Leaves a. Following completion of one (1) year of continuous service, an employee may apply to the Employer for a leave of absence of up to six (6) months for educational purposes provided that (i.) the Employer determines that the education is directly applicable to the employee's current position or another Employer position; and (ii.) the employee produces evidence of acceptance to the qualifying program.

It is recognized that it is desirable that employees improve their professional skills through programs of study which can assist them in their current job or in obtaining a promotion with the Employer; and for this reason educational leaves of absence without pay will be considered by the Employer in accordance with the rules set forth below. Educational leaves of absence shall be limited to a maximum period of one (1) year and Employer is not obligated to return such employee to work at the expiration of such leaves extending beyond sixty (60) days; however, he/she will be offered the next available opening in her job classification or in a part-time classification if he/she reapplies within 30 days at the end of the leave and there is a position available within 360 days of when the leave ends. The Employer may temporarily fill the position during such period of job return rights. Additional leave may be granted on educational leave without loss of seniority if the class or semester is longer than sixty (60) days. It is understood that the employee must return to work when the class is over, or if they drop class before completion. An employee on personal unpaid leave of absence shall accrue seniority for a maximum of ninety (90) days only. An employee on educational unpaid leave of absence shall accrue seniority for a maximum of ninety (90) days only. No benefits are accrued or paid while an employee is on a personal or educational unpaid leave of absence.
