Personal/Sick Days. 16.1 Employees shall be provided four (4) days of personal/sick days per year. New hires shall earn one (1) day of sick/personal leave for every two (2) months of service up to a total of four (4) sick days until January 1st. Upon reaching January 1st, and on each successive January 1st, the employee shall be provided four (4) sick/personal days. Employees in the City of Hartford with ten (10) or more years of seniority shall receive five (5) sick/personal days each calendar year on January 1st. Employees wishing to use their personal-sick days as personal days will give their supervisor at least one (1) week notice of the desired day. The Employer will not unreasonably withhold consent. There shall be no carry over of sick/personal days from year to year and accrued sick- personal time shall expire on December 31st each year.

Personal/Sick Days. As of the effective date of this Agreement, the Administrator shall be credited with one hundred (1oo) personal/sick days. Each July 1 the Administrator shall be eligible for an additional allotment of fourteen (14) personal/sick days per school year to be available for use up to a maximum of two hundred forty (240) days. Any days accrued but unused over the maximum shall be deemed lost. Such personal/sick days may be used for absences due to personal or family injury or illness, bereavement, personal business or other matters that can be conducted only during the regular school day. Whenever possible, such personal/sick days shall be scheduled so as not to interfere with the operation of the District, and when used for personal purposes shall be subject to advance approval by the Superintendent. Effective July 1, 2016 the Administrator with ten (10) or more years of full-time continuous service with the Newark Central School District is eligible for retirement and submits a letter of resignation to the Superintendent four (4) months in advance of planned retirement date is eligible to receive payment for each day of unused sick leave as follows: for either days 1-100 the Administrator will receive an amount of one-hundred (100) dollars per day. This amount is not to exceed $10,000. The Administrator shall receive a non-elective employer contribution equal to the dollar value of such accumulated unused sick leave into the retiree’s 403B account within thirty (30) days of retirement.
Personal/Sick Days. The Company will grant full-time employees forty-eight (48) hours (half day per month) paid personal/sick leave time each calendar year. An employee who has not accumulated six (6) full days in his personal/sick leave bank at the time of absence due to sickness will nevertheless receive paid personal/sick leave to a maximum of six (6) days in the calendar year, provided:

If an extra Board driver or extra Board aide has the opportunity to bid onto a regular run, the number of personal/sick days he/she is entitled to will be prorated at the rate of one-half day per pay period, not to exceed the total number of personal/sick days allowed by contract. Any employee having unused sick days at the end of the contract year shall be compensated as follows: 0 through 1 days absent - 100% of normal pay for unused sick days 2 through 4 days absent - 50% of normal pay for unused sick days. This payment will be made within thirty (30) days following the end of the contract year. (normal pay is normal run hours.) An employee who is absent longer than two (2) weeks due to illness will be required to update the Supervisor of Transportation as to his/her status every two weeks. Failure to provide such information may be cause for discipline.
