Political Leave of Absence Sample Clauses

Political Leave of Absence. To enable a College employee to contest a Federal, Provincial, Municipal, or other local election, a political leave of absence, without pay, may be granted by the Board, on the recommendation of the President, for a period of up to six (6) weeks for a Federal or Provincial election and up to two (2) weeks for a Municipal or other local election, except when the campaign period coincides with a normal vacation period. The leaves will be subject to the following conditions:

Political Leave of Absence. The Board recognizes that Employees ought to be as free as are members of any profession to participate in public life. It shall, therefore, upon written request, grant leaves of absence to Employees who are candidates in a federal or provincial election, but subject to the following conditions.
Political Leave of Absence. An unpaid leave of absence may be granted for an employee who is a candidate for public office for the duration of the election campaign and for the term of office (if applicable), upon timely application and for a reasonable period of time. Such leave shall be processed in accordance with Article 17.51 and shall not count as probationary service unless otherwise agreed to. Temporary employees are not eligible for a political leave of absence. Alternatively, the employee may, with their supervisor’s approval, flex their work schedule in accordance with Article 10.25 in lieu of using accrued leave.
