Pre-Adoption Leave. An Employee seeking to adopt a child is entitled to take unpaid leave for the purpose of attending any compulsory interviews or examinations as are necessary as part of the adoption procedure. The Employee and the Employer should agree on the length of the unpaid leave. Where agreement cannot be reached, the Employee is entitled to take up to two days’ unpaid leave. Where paid leave is available to the Employee, the Employer may require the Employee to take such leave instead.

Pre-Adoption Leave. (a) This clause applies if an employee is seeking to obtain approval to adopt an eligible child. (b) The employee is entitled to a period of up to 2 days unpaid leave (pre-adoption leave) to attend any interviews or examinations required to obtain the approval. (c) However, the employee is not entitled to take a period of pre-adoption leave if: (i) the employee could take other authorised leave instead for the same period; and (ii) the employer directs the employee to take such leave for the period. (d) An employee who is entitled to a period of pre-adoption leave is entitled to take the leave as: (i) a single, unbroken, period of up to 2 days; or (ii) any separate periods to which the employee and the employer agree.
Pre-Adoption Leave the Employee is entitled to take up to 2 days unpaid Pre-Adoption Leave to attend interviews or examination in connection with the adoption of an eligible child. This leave may be take at the same time as the Employee’s partner.

(c) Any Casual Employee may access unpaid leave for the purpose of attending any compulsory interviews or examinations as are necessary as part of the adoption procedure. (d) The Employer may require the Employee to provide satisfactory evidence supporting the leave.
Pre-Adoption Leave i) A staff member is entitled to up to two (2) days unpaid pre-adoption leave to attend any interviews or examinations required in order to obtain approval for the staff member’s adoption of a child. ii) A staff member is not entitled to take a period of unpaid pre-adoption leave if:  The staff member could instead take some other form of leave; and  The University directs the staff member to take that other form of leave.

Pre-Adoption Leave. (a) In addition to the adoption leave provisions above, an employee who will be the primary care giver and who presents a letter from the Director-General of the relevant Queensland Government department administering adoptions, confirming the employee’s status as a prospective adopter, will have access to paid leave up to a total of either 36.25 or 38 hours (based on the average number of ordinary hours worked in a week) per adoption to attend related interviews prior to the adoption of a child/children. (b) An employee who will be the secondary care giver at the time of placement and who presents a letter from the Director-General of the relevant Queensland Government department administering adoptions confirming that the employee is a prospective adopter, will have access to paid leave up to a total of either 7.25 or 7.6 hours (based on the average number of ordinary hours worked in a day) per adoption to attend related interviews prior to the adoption of a child/children. (c) A written application shall be submitted for every absence for which pre-adoption leave is sought. Applications shall be supported by evidence to the satisfaction of the chief executive. (d) The work unit should be flexible enough to allow such employees the ability to leave work and return on the same day. (e) An employee cannot be deemed to be both the primary and secondary care giver and therefore cannot access both entitlements to pre-adoption leave (i.e. 1 week and 1 day).
Pre-Adoption Leave. 47.6.1 In addition to any other leave entitlements afforded to employees in this Agreement, an employee, other than a casual employee, who presents evidence to satisfy the Employer CLC that they are in the process of adopting a child or securing permanent guardianship, is entitled to take up to 15.2 hours paid leave to attend any interviews or examinations required to obtain approval of the adoption or guardianship. The Employer CLC reserves the right to request any evidence from an employee in relation to each absence.

An Interviewer, including a casual Interviewer who receives a loading in lieu of leave, is entitled to up to two days of unpaid pre-adoption leave to attend any interviews or examinations required in order to obtain approval for the adoption of an eligible adoptive child. An Interviewer is not entitled to take a period of unpaid pre-adoption leave if: (a) they could instead take some other form of leave; and (b) the ABS directs them to take some other form of leave.
