Preceptor Program. Only employees who are assigned and receive Preceptor differential shall participate in the tutoring of other employees. A differential of fifty ($.50) cents per hour shall be paid to each employee for all time spent functioning as Preceptor.
Preceptor Program. In those instances where employees are assigned as Preceptors, they shall be paid a differential of fifty cents ($0.50) per hour for all time spent tutoring other employees to a department/unit. The Preceptor will work in a "buddy" system on a one-to-one basis, sharing a single work assignment with the employee. The performance of the Preceptor shall be the direct responsibility of the Administrative Director of said department/unit. While tutoring, it shall be the responsibility of the Preceptor to provide the Administrative Director pertinent information regarding the overall performance of the employee; said information to be used in the evaluation of the employee.
Preceptor Program. During the life of this Agreement, the Medical Center will provide a Preceptor program for those Registered Nurses who volunteer, meet Preceptor requirements, and who are designated by the Medical Center in the tutoring of other employees to a unit/department. Such program shall count as time worked. The Preceptor will work in a "buddy" system on a one-to-one basis, sharing a single work assignment with the employee. This Preceptor program and the tutoring of Preceptors shall be the direct responsibility of the Education Department. While in the clinical setting, it shall be the responsibility of the Preceptor to provide the Education Department pertinent information regarding the overall performance of the employee; said information to be used in the evaluation process of this employee. Preceptors shall remain on their regularly assigned shift and shall not rotate. In the absence of an available Preceptor, another employee may volunteer for, and temporarily act as, Preceptor. This volunteer shall receive the Preceptor differential for all time worked in that capacity. A Preceptor differential of one dollar twenty-five cents ($1.25) per hour shall be paid to any employee for all time spent functioning as Preceptor if said employee has completed the Preceptor Course offered by the Medical Center. A differential of fifty ($.50) cents per hour shall be paid to each employee for all time spent functioning as Preceptor if said employee has not completed the Preceptor Course offered by the Medical Center. Other employees may receive the Preceptor differential for all time spent functioning as a Preceptor, once designated by the Medical Center, even though it is not necessary for them to take the formal program. All newly recruited RN Per Diems will be asked and offered to be orientated into the Emergency Department.

Preceptor Program. Explanation and definition: An essential component of the orientation of new staff and newly transferred employees is an experienced co-worker to facilitate the transition from new employee/transferred employee to a contributing member of the staff. The goal of the preceptor program is to facilitate a smooth transition of the new staff/newly transferred technical employee (orientee) into a new environment by recognizing his/her individual needs. The preceptor’s role is to assist the orientee to adjust to the organization, environment, functions, and responsibilities through a planned approach to the unit orientation.
Preceptor Program. 32.1 The Employer shall continue its practice of utilizing preceptors to orient new employees to their unit assignments. The Employer will make all reasonable efforts to assign the orientee to the preceptors’ schedule(s).
32.2 The preceptor shall provide input to the employee’s unit manager regarding the new employee’s clinical performance. The determination of the employee’s completion of orientation shall be the responsibility of the nurse manager.
32.3 Preceptors shall serve on a voluntary basis and will be selected by the Nurse Manager. In order to volunteer the preceptor will successfully complete a preceptor training program.
32.4 The Employer shall continue its practice of utilizing preceptors in the training of students and other care providers in the unit.
32.5 RNs designated as preceptors will be paid an additional $2.00/hour for time spent while precepting.
Preceptor Program. A preceptor is an employee experienced in their respective department and/or job classification who has completed a Preceptor Training Program. A preceptor is responsible for planning, organizing, and evaluating the new skill development of new employees assigned to them. EvergreenHealth Monroe will develop and maintain a Preceptor Training Program for the purpose of training current employees to precept new employees. The Precepting Training Program will include, but not be limited to, adult learning principals and training methods. Current employees may apply to be a preceptor for their department. Managers may select current employees to complete the preceptor-training module. Employees who have successfully completed the preceptor-training module will be eligible to be assigned by their manager to precept new employees in their department. Employees assigned precepting duties will be paid and additional fifty ($0.50) per hour for all hours spent precepting new employees. Preceptor pay will not be paid in addition to lead pay. Additionally, preceptors will be assigned less than a full workload for those hours that they are Precepting new employees. New employees may be assigned a preceptor at the department manager's discretion at any time during the employee's probationary period. Preceptorships will be time-limited at the discretion of the department manager. The need for departmental preceptors is at the discretion of the department manager. Preceptors may precept employees in the same job classification who are hired in other departments, i.e., a Health Unit Coordinator in one department may precept a HUC for another department, at the discretion of both department managers. It is understood that employees in the ordinary course of their general responsibilities will be expected to participate in the orientation process of new employees and this general orientation process is not a preceptor assignment. These orientation responsibilities will include such things as providing informational assistance, support and guidance to new employees.
Preceptor Program. Section 1: The Employer shall establish a Preceptor Program. The purpose of the Preceptor Program will be to have “preceptors” provide individualized assistance and attention to newly hired Staff Nurses in order to facilitate their transition into the organization.
Section 2: Preceptors will be selected by the Employer based upon such factors as clinical competency, communication and interpersonal skills, and a minimum of six (6) months with the Employer. Each Preceptor will receive appropriate formal training prior to beginning work as a preceptor.
Section 3: The Employer shall have the right to remove someone as a preceptor provided the preceptor receives progressive discipline relating to her/his failure to appropriately function as a preceptor. Any preceptor may withdraw from preceptor status at any time by providing written notice to the Employer. In addition, the Employer may provide orientation for newly hired staff nurses through other means and methods but not to replace the role and work of the preceptors. Removal of the Preceptor designation shall not be arbitrable.
Section 4: Preceptors shall be paid a differential of two dollars ($2.00) per hour for all hours paid during the time the employee holds the “preceptor” designation.
Section 5: Preceptors shall have a reduced case load while they are precepting.
Preceptor Program. The preceptor is a person who teaches, counsels, and supports the growth and development of an individual for a fixed length of time. The pairing of the new employee with an experienced RN provides an environment of nourishment and growth for the new employee or new graduate. Utilization of preceptors is one approach to fulfilling the orientation needs of G.N.'s or newly hired employees. A preceptor will be chosen by the Staff Development Coordinator based on an established criteria that includes clinical competency, good communication skills and interpersonal skills. Once the selected staff member agrees to serve as a preceptor he/she shall attend a full day of training provided by the Staff Development Coordinator. The training will include communication skills, adult learning theory, motivation, coaching, stress management, performance evaluation and the role of the preceptor. Preceptors will be compensated for their services at the rate of Seventy Five ($75.00) Dollars for each experienced new employee when they precept, and One Hundred Fifty ($150.00) Dollars for each newly hired graduate without previous work experience when they precept.
Preceptor Program. The Hospital shall maintain a Preceptor Program designed to support graduate nurses, summer clinical assistants, and personnel on such nursing units as the SVP/CNO shall designate. Nurses may volunteer to become a preceptor and if accepted into the program shall successfully complete the preceptor training program and the preceptor update annually. Registered Nurses becoming preceptors shall accept preceptees for a minimum of six (6) months from completion of their training. A preceptor shall be responsible for one preceptee, however, may take more than one preceptee upon agreement between the Nurse Manager and the preceptor. The preceptor will be protected and indemnified as specified under the Professional Liability Program of the Hospital. The Preceptor may agree to accept charge responsibilities and receive appropriate premiums, shall inform the Nurse Manager of preceptee’s progress and shall complete designated documentation. The Nurse Manager shall evaluate the preceptee with input from the preceptor and staff development personnel. The preceptor shall be paid a premium of $1.00 per hour for each preceptee under his/her direction.
