PROMOTIONAL PROCEDURES. The State shall consult with the Association before making any changes in the promotional procedures used for selecting Corporals and Sergeants. Such consultation shall cover the nature of any changes under consideration and the timing of the implementation of any changes finally adopted. An employee may refuse two (2) appointments from a promotional register. If the employee refuses three (3) appointments from a promotional register, his/her name shall be removed from the register. Positions assigned to the training unit for the Maine State Police shall be allowed to utilize a Physical Assessment Test (PAT) as part of the selection process for Academy-based assignments.
PROMOTIONAL PROCEDURES.
17.1 The District reserves the right to make the final determination regarding the rating and ranking of applicants for promotional positions and to post notices of promotional vacancies both within and without the District in the manner permitted by law. All applicants shall meet the stated qualifications for the promotional vacancy.
PROMOTIONAL PROCEDURES. 25.1 Subject to the eligibility provisions contained in subsection 2, all police officers up to and including the rank of Staff Sergeant and Detective/Sergeant are eligible to apply to write a qualifying examination for promotion to a higher rank.
25.2 No constable shall be eligible to write a qualifying examination for promotion until such time as he has been classified by the Board as a first class constable, has satisfactorily completed his eighteen (18) months probationary period and has at least three (3) years service as a police officer with the York Regional Police.
25.3 Qualifying examinations for promotion will be held once a year at the discretion of the Chief of Police.
25.4 The actual selection of promotional examination questions will be the responsibility of the Chief of Police and shall include those designed and approved by the Ontario Police College for promotional examination purposes so long as such are available from the Ontario Police College.
25.5 Where the promotional examination involves the writing of one (1) examination paper a mark of sixty-five (65) percent must be obtained in order for the member to qualify for promotion. Where the promotional examination involves the writing of more than one (1) examination paper the member must obtain a mark of not less than fifty (50) percent in each paper written and an average mark of sixty-five (65) percent in all papers written in order for the member to qualify for promotion. The member shall be given his marks by the Chief of Police as soon as they are available.
25.6 Examinations for promotion to ranks above Inspector are at the discretion of the Board.
25.7 There shall be a Promotion Selection Committee who shall interview each member who is qualified for promotion.
25.8 The Promotion Selection Committee shall be comprised of the Deputy Chief of Police and the Unit Commander of the District or Unit to which the member to be interviewed is attached. For the purpose of paragraph 25.7, the Deputy Chief may appoint a Senior Uniform Officer as his designate on the Promotion Selection Committee.
25.9 When a vacancy occurs in any rank up to and including the rank of Inspector, the Promotion Selection Committee shall submit to the Chief of Police the names of the members who have qualified for promotion and who have been interviewed by that Committee, together with a recommendation which will contain the name or names of the qualifying member or members who, in the opinion of the Promotion ...
PROMOTIONAL PROCEDURES. A. The Board shall announce promotional examinations at least 30 days in advance of the application deadline. The Board shall provide a list of reference material and resource material from which the examination will be produced. Eligibility to apply for a promotion shall be based on the employees status on the date of the application deadline. In addition, an employee must not have any record of discipline in the employees personnel file relating to serious job related incidents within the previous six months.
B. The Board shall fill promotional vacancies prior to the expiration of an existing eligibility list; however, this provision may be waived in the event of budgetary constraints.
C. The Board shall continue to have the right to affect revisions in promotional examination procedures and criteria. The Board will meet with representatives of the FOP in conjunction with the promotional examination announcement for the purpose of discussing the testing procedures and scoring methodology to be utilized in the upcoming promotional examination process. Additionally, either party may request a meeting at any time to discuss this subject matter.
D. Promotion lists for sergeants and lieutenants will be in effect for two years. Assessments will be completed and new promotional lists will be established to replace the expired lists.
PROMOTIONAL PROCEDURES. Section 1. Promotional Process For Lieutenant Position. This policy applies to all promotions to the rank of Lieutenant. General minimum requirements as of the date of application are as follows: -All applicants must meet entrance level requirements and must currently hold the rank of Sergeant. Prior to actually receiving a Lieutenant position, each otherwise qualified applicant must also meet any specific minimum qualifications for the particular position being filled, including any certifications and licenses required by the Sheriff's Office or by law, such as State Certification for Corrections and M.C.O.L.E.S. Certification for Law Enforcement and have successfully completed the promotional probation period. The following steps shall apply to the promotion process and become effective after the current (1994) promotional roster expires:
1. By November 15th of every other year, the Xxxxxx County Personnel Department will post the date of the written exam and will list the materials to be tested. All interested persons must apply for the position(s) at the County Personnel Office and complete all required application forms and submit required information. Applicants may be required to be interviewed by the Personnel Department. Failure to complete the application process as outlined shall automatically disqualify the person from consideration.
2. Applicants meeting minimum requirements shall be referred to the Sheriff for further processing.
3. The actual date of the test will be scheduled between January 10th and February 10th of each year.
4. A written examination will be required for all eligible applicants. A minimum score of 70% correct must be achieved on the written exam in order to continue with the promotional process. The written exam will count toward 50% of the points earned in the overall process.
5. Eligible applicants (those achieving a score on the written exam of 70% or above) shall be scheduled and required to appear for an Oral Board Examination. The Oral Board Exam will count toward 50% of the points earned in the overall process. The Oral Board will be selected by the Sheriff, and consists of two members appointed from within the Sheriff's Office, and two members appointed from an outside agency. All members shall hold a position equal to or above the position being applied for, and have experience or expertise in the appropriate field being applied for.

PROMOTIONAL PROCEDURES. 24.1 When a vacancy occurs in any rank above that of Inspector up to and including the rank of Staff Superintendent and, where in the opinion of the Chief of Police a qualified member exists within the Force to fill that vacancy, the Chief of Police, after giving consideration to every member qualified to fill that position, shall submit a report to the Board which will contain the name of the person he recommends to fill that position. Where, in the opinion of the Chief of Police after having considered all possible candidates, a qualified member does not exist within the Force to fill a vacancy in any rank above that of an Inspector up to an including the rank of Staff Superintendent, the Chief of Police shall submit a report to the Board to that effect.
PROMOTIONAL PROCEDURES. The following promotional procedure shall be followed for all members up to and including the rank of Captain. This procedure shall not apply to promotions above the rank of Captain.
PROMOTIONAL PROCEDURES. 9.1: Employees seeking promotional positions within the Bargaining Unit shall be examined and appointed in accordance with the Civil Service System of the City of Hollywood.
9.2: Procedures for the administration of exams:
a) Promotional examinations will be administered once every two years in September, on the Friday following Labor Day;
b) Announcements of the examinations will be posted by May 1st of the calendar year of the examination;
c) Cut-off date to meet minimum eligibility requirements will be the September 1st immediately preceding the test date.
d) The effective date of the eligibility list resulting from the examination will be the October 1st immediately following the test administration;
a) The eligibility list will expire on the last day in September, two years following the test administration.
9.3: Education and seniority bonus points as outlined below will remain in effect for the duration of this Agreement:
PROMOTIONAL PROCEDURES. A promotion is a non-lateral move by a unit member into a higher classification.
A. At any time during the work year, unit members may apply for a position which becomes available and which would constitute a promotion. When a position opens, the employer shall notify in writing via district email or shared electronic drive to all employees and the union. Such notification shall include:
1. The job title
2. A description of the duties and the position
3. The qualifications
4. The assigned work site
5. Hours per day, days per year and months per year
6. The salary range and dollar amount
7. Deadline for filing for the vacancy
B. The district shall consider each person's skills, experience, and qualifications. District employees shall have priority consideration consistent with the district's affirmative action policy.
C. Unit members interested in a promotion (except those whose most recent evaluation is rated "unsatisfactory" or "needs improvement") are eligible to apply by submitting an application.
1. The Associate Superintendent of Human Resources or designee shall paper screen all applications and select those who meet the minimum job requirements to be eligible for testing at step 2 .
2. All applicants remaining after step 1 shall be given the opportunity to take a thorough and rigorous content matter and/or performance test
3. All test-takers who score above the cut score for the administered test(s) shall be interviewed.
4. If fewer than three (3) unit members pass the test at step 2, all such internal applicants and external candidates who have passed the test shall be interviewed by the selection committee and/or supervisor or administrator.
5. The most qualified applicant will be offered the position, including consideration of skill, experience, qualifications, seniority, and interview performance.
D. The employer will notify all unit members who are not accepted.
X. XXXX only- Schools with Site–based Management may elect to have a school committee serve as the selection committee.
F. Vacant positions to be filled will be posted within five (5) days of governing board acceptance of the separation.
