RELEASE TIME AND SCHEDULING. 1. An employee who has completed the probationary period who wishes to participate in a development program during work time shall request advance approval in accordance with departmental procedures. On completion of the program, the employee may be required to submit verification of successful completion of the program and attendance at the program. Participation in educational or training programs during scheduled work hours must be approved by the University in advance. Such leaves must not interfere with staffing requirements. 2. A non-probationary employee is eligible for up to forty (40) hours of paid release time for job-related training per calendar year, prorated based on appointment rate. Except as described below, such paid release time may not be accumulated or carried over from year to year, and must be scheduled according to staffing requirements. Training courses provided by the University shall be included in the forty (40) hours. Time spent, if any, in career-related training programs shall count against the forty (40) hours. No later than November 1 of any year, an employee may submit a written request in accordance with departmental procedures to carry over paid release time for job-related training. Such requests will be considered on a case by case basis and shall not be unreasonably denied. Any hours approved for carry over must be used within one (1) calendar year. 3. The provisions of Section B do not apply to home study courses. 4. Development Leave Hours may be used for the time spent taking certification exams that are in furtherance of career-related or position related development.

Such requests shall not be unreasonably denied. 2. Professional Development and Educational Leave shall be used for career- enhancing education. Examples of educational opportunities for which Professional Development and Education Leave would be appropriate include, but are not limited to, the following: English as a Second Language, Interviewing Skills, Computer Skills, Resume Writing Skills, and Supervisory/Leadership Skills. 3. The following terms apply to the use of Professional Development and Educational Leave: a. May not be accumulated except as referenced in 4. C below; b. Must be scheduled according to staffing requirements, however, the University shall make reasonable efforts to accommodate requests; c. When used for Continuing Education Units, must be used to take available UC sponsored courses; d. Must be documented with proof of participation. 4. The maximum professional development and educational leave is forty (40) hours per contract year. a. For purposes of this Article, a year is defined as October 1 – September 30. b. In addition, a part-time career employee’s yearly entitlement shall be prorated based on her/his appointment rate. c. Notwithstanding paragraph 4 above, provided an employee has requested using development leave in writing in advance, in accordance with B.1. above, and has been denied by supervision on two separate occasions during the year as defined in 4.a. above, twenty (20) hours of the previous year’s forty (40) hours of unused leave may be carried over to the following year. d. Employees must submit the request no less than ninety (90) calendar days prior to the end of the year as defined in 4.a. above. Under no circumstances may an employee have more than sixty (60) hours of development leave in one year. 5. An employee assigned to the evening and/or night shift, who is scheduled for a continuing education course or a certification examination, shall be scheduled off from the evening or night shift immediately preceding or following the course examination when: a. The unit scheduling policies have been followed; and b. The course is eight hours duration outside scheduled work time; or c. The examination is conducted by a state or nationally recognize...

Utilization of such “study time” shall count against the Fire Fighter’s forty- eight (48) hours of release time. b. Fire Fighters must request approval from the Fire Chief to utilize “study time” hours prior to attending the training. c. The Fire Chief has the sole discretion to approve or deny the “study time” request. 4. The provisions of Section B. do not apply to home study courses.

  • Dispatch and Scheduling 6.1.1 The SPD shall be entirely responsible to schedule its power as per the applicable regulations / requirements / guidelines of CERC / SERC /SLDC / RLDC or any other competent agency and same being recognized by the RLDC/SLDC or any other competent authority / agency as per applicable regulation/ law / direction and maintain compliance to the applicable Codes/ Grid Code requirements and directions, if any, as specified by concerned SLDC/RLDC from time to time. Any deviation from the schedule will attract the provisions of applicable regulation / guidelines / directions and any financial implication on account of this shall be on the account of the SPD. 6.1.2 The SPD shall be responsible for directly coordinating and dealing with the Buying Entity, State Load Dispatch Centres, Regional Power Committees, and other authorities in all respects in regard to declaration of availability, scheduling and dispatch of power and due compliance with deviation and settlement mechanism and the applicable Grid code Regulations, acknowledging that the SPD and Buying Entity are the Grid connected entities and SECI as an Intermediary Procurer/ trading licensee is not a Grid connected entity in respect of the power contracted under this Agreement. 6.1.3 The SPD shall be responsible for any deviation from scheduling and for any resultant liabilities on account of charges for deviation as per applicable regulations. UI charges on this account shall be directly paid by the SPD. 6.1.4 Auxiliary power consumption will be treated as per the concerned Central/State regulations. 6.1.5 Further, in case of any difference in scheduled energy at the interfaces of all the RLDCs concerned for the corridor of the power flow, including the RLDC of the Buying Entity, SECI will make payments corresponding to the lowest of the individual energy values to the SPD, until rectification of the above error.

  • HOURS OF WORK AND SCHEDULING 15.01 The normal hours of work for an employee are not a guarantee of work per day or per week, or a guarantee of days of work per week. The normal hours of work shall be seven and one-half (7-1/2) hours per day, and seventy-five (75) hours in any bi-weekly period. 15.02 The normal daily shift shall consist of seven and one-half (7 ½) consecutive hours, exclusive of a one-half (1/2) hour unpaid meal period. For employees working the night shift, this one-half (1/2) hour will be paid. Employees shall be entitled to a fifteen (15) minute paid break during each half of the normal daily shift, at a time designated by the Employer. An employee may combine her rest periods in order to have one (1) thirty (30) minute break, providing she has prior approval from the Director of Nursing. When a meal period is interrupted requiring an employee to attend to a work related problem, then the balance of the unused meal period will be taken within two (2) hours of the interruption. If the employee is unable to reschedule such time, she shall be paid time and one-half (1½) her regular straight time hourly rate for all time worked in excess of her normal daily hours, in accordance with Article 16.01. 15.03 Employees required for reporting purposes shall remain at work for a period of up to fifteen (15) minutes which shall be unpaid. Should the reporting time extend beyond fifteen (15) minutes however, the entire period shall be considered overtime for the purposes of payment. 15.04 Requests for change in posted work schedules must be submitted in writing and co-signed by the employee willing to exchange days off or shifts and are subject to the discretion of the Administrator or her designate. In any event, it is understood that such a change initiated by the employee and approved by the Employer shall not result in overtime compensation or payment or any other claims on the Employer by any employee under the terms of this Agreement. 15.05 Where there is a change to Daylight Savings from Standard Time or vice-versa, an employee who is scheduled and works a full shift shall be paid for the actual hours worked at her regular straight time hourly rate. 15.06 There shall be no split shifts. (a) There shall be a minimum of sixteen (16) hours off between changes of shift unless mutually agreed otherwise. (b) An employee shall not be required to work more than seven (7) consecutive days without days off, unless mutually agreed to by the employee and the Employer. (a) Any employee who is working a permanent shift as of December 31, 1996 shall not be transferred to another shift without their consent.
