SENIOR TEACHERS. 1. The provisions in this Agreement apply in their entirety except where senior teachers who were members of NZEI Te Riu Roa at 24 November 2000 and who had benefits not otherwise provided for under the provisions of this Agreement, including the personal use of an association’s vehicle, shall retain these benefits. The parties agree that such arrangements were made between the employer and employee in good faith and may be changed in accordance with association policy.
2. The following provisions shall not apply to senior teachers: 2.5: Hours of Work
3.1: Salary Scales
SENIOR TEACHERS. This part of the Agreement shall apply to Senior Teachers only
SENIOR TEACHERS a. Where a Principal supervises two (2) or more schools and there is no Vice Principal in the Principal’s base school, there shall be a teacher in the base school designated as the "Senior Teacher". *b. In the absence of the Principal, the Senior Teacher shall:
SENIOR TEACHERS. Senior Teacher levels 1-8 represent discreet promotional salary points within the classification structure of the Schedule.
SENIOR TEACHERS. SENIOR TEACHERS. Appointment to the position of Senior Teacher will result from the employer’s acceptance of an application from the employee for such a position. Principals shall advertise to all teaching staff the process of application for this position annually. SCEA shall ensure that all staff have reasonable access to a copy of the procedure for application. In making an application the teacher is expected to demonstrate performance on the Classroom Practice Continuum at level 5 or 6 for the relevant elements of AITSL Standards 3, 4 and 5. It is recognised that the relevant elements are dependent on opportunity and context. This position will be an appointment for a period of time agreed between the employer and employee but will not last longer than three years. Upon the completion of the term, a fresh application and acceptance of such application will be required for the position to be continued. Senior Teachers will be paid an allowance at the rate of 3.5% of their individual salary step as outlined in Clause 9.1 of this agreement multiplied by the full-time equivalence of their teaching load.
SENIOR TEACHERS. Teachers on salary scale B shall be eligible to apply for appointment as Senior Teachers in accordance with College Policy and shall receive additional remuneration shown in Appendix A to the Agreement. For clarity, all Senior Teachers are to be paid at salary scale point C2 in Appendix A from October 2010.
SENIOR TEACHERS. 14.1 The Parties acknowledge that there is a need to retain competent experienced Teachers in duties directly associated with classroom teaching and learning and to reward the excellent work and professionalism of experienced classroom Teachers who do not wish to move into an administrative role.
14.2 A Teacher may progress to Senior Teacher effective from the first pay period on or after the date on which the Teacher notifies the Department of satisfactory completion of the criteria as prescribed in clause 14.4. Progression will not occur any earlier than the date of notification to the Department.
14.3 Senior Teachers are required to perform duties in addition to those identified in clause 12 – Teachers – Duties, Responsibilities and Attendance Hours of the Award and clause 9 - Teachers – Functions and Responsibilities of this Agreement, such as the following:
(a) providing mentoring, supervision, professional support, counselling and guidance for Teachers (including student Teachers and Graduate Teachers), about classroom performance, curriculum implementation and resource development;
(b) developing pedagogy and contributing to curriculum development;
(c) effectively contributing to the leadership of school development planning and identifying priorities, and to formal school decision-making processes; and
(d) other duties as required by the principal. Allocation of additional duties will be negotiated with the principal and/or administration team and take into consideration workload implications.
14.4 Criteria for Progression to Senior Teacher Classification.
(a) To progress to Senior Teacher classification, Teachers must:
i. complete a minimum of twelve months service performing duties directly associated with classroom teaching and learning at the top increment of automatic progression on the Teacher salary scale; and
ii. undertake relevant professional development as agreed between the Parties; or one unit of relevant study at a university or TAFE college or agreed professional learning.
(b) Professional development will be available within and outside school hours.
(c) Teachers may make application to commence required professional learning within two years prior to reaching the top increment of the automatic progression salary scale.
SENIOR TEACHERS. Salaries for the above mentioned positions shall be the same as for a teacher on the same step and training level, plus a stipend of $2,948 for 2005-2006, $3,081 for 2006-2007, and $3,220 for 2007-2008.
SENIOR TEACHERS.
a) Appointments to the Senior Teacher position will be for a period of two years. The Senior Teacher will be responsible to the Principal to provide assistance in administrative and curriculum related tasks.
b) Where an appointment is deemed necessary by the School’s administration, the School will invite applications for that position from teachers in the relevant Branch and will consider such applications before making an appointment.
c) Appointments to the Senior Teacher position shall be a prerogative of the School’s administration.
d) A Senior Teacher may be removed from this position for cause at any time by the School’s administration.
e) A Senior Teacher will receive a stipend of $ $5,955 per school year, in addition to the normal remuneration paid to teachers.
f) A Senior Teacher will be granted between 1 and 2.5 hours of release time per week, during which no meetings will be scheduled, unless at the preference of the Senior Teacher.
